Close the street when it needs to be cleared, put snow in a line along one edge, use more trucks. Great video.

Yes, clearly they were short on trucks. I think they were sharing operations with another team a few streets over and just didn't have the carrying capacity they needed. In later snows this season they've had more trucks on demand and the road's been cleared in about a third of the time!
They do seem to like to keep the roads open as much as possible; Norwegian drivers are expected to be sensible and aware enough to predictably navigate through works like this without the city needing to close the road down.
It's been the same with the renovations to the pedestrianised streets in the city centre this winter, with the public able to walk through the construction site while trucks and equipment operators are working slowly with care and attention.
It must be a cultural thing here, you're just trusted to be sensible. Cheers from Tromsø.

Despite all the traffic, Bydrift did an amazing job! I hope they can more easily close streets in the future, to make this go more efficiently.

Living here in West Seneca NY we use the high lifts with buckets attached to fill dump trucks that are waiting in line to be filled like a assembly line of sorts. Here it looks like they are monkeying around taking fooooreeever 😂

I was about to comment same. I am Austrian living in Canada, worked in Norway and noticed quite a bit akwardness in general in Norway.

They can call in plenty additional trucks and use high lifts if they need/wish, but with the relative little amount of snow here they just use to equipment the city got at hand themself, and get the job done within the time frame they need here. This city sees heavy snow falls every year, they got their budgets, they have found their way of doing things.

when you need to get rid of all the snow from a city center this is usually the best way, its quite fast and leaves the area clean with no leftover snow drifts that u couldnt get into the bucket

one wheeloader less ...and the wheeloader with the snow-blower drives uphill on the other side - to much diesel waste
