  • Snow Removal Operation in Montreal. 2022
    Huge layers of snow, as you can see there not much space around to move the snow, they had to work hard. Two passes allowed to make it clean for a car to park, but it take more resources.
    WARNING: There a huge amount of trash under the snow, the crew did their best to avoid them but sadly there was few trash that finish on the pile. You don't see the after, but the team cleared what was possible, and then they started the blower operation.
    - The operation was filmed in Montreal, Ville-Marie, winter 2022.

    After watching Montreal and other cities for several years digging out, this was the first time I recall seeing the big machines squeezing into alleyways to clean them out too. Going fwd was cool, but backing back up was nuts! lol. Respect to all these men!

      It almost makes me want to plan a trip up there before a snowstorm to watch them work, but I think I'll stick to the comfort of my home office!

    Those graders sure scrape the pavement well! The snow removal crew puts on a good show!

      Yep, Montreal always did a great job at scraping the pavement well, leaving no snow. I lived there from 1968-1998.

    Definitely always have a big respect for the plowers

    the big problem with loaders with a blade is the lack of weight for the plow to really scrape,its why they use the graders,the loaders only push the snow.

      Exactly. The guys on the sidewalk machines do good work. The twin auger loader is lots of fun.

    The road network of the city of Montreal includes 4,100 km of traffic lanes, 6,550 kilometers of sidewalks, 450 km of bike paths, and 200 km of highways. To be able to clear all of that in a matter of days it's pretty impressive.

    I've watched a few of these videos now, and it seems like alot of the movements are redundant or in some instances counter-productive. A grader windrowing to the center of the road, followed by the snowblower aiming at the windrow and a truck driving in the path the grader cleared would eliminate alot of the double handling. a loader with a U blade could follow inbetween the trucks to catch the crumbs and shovel em infront of the snow blower between trucks.

    hope the city takes care of the operators with pay and rest that's not easy work you can really do some damage if your not paying attention to your surroundings

      It's a lot. It happens. Especially when you have hundreds of streets to clear.

    The D series is loader mounted but works the same as the T series, which is a self propelled unit and is the modern version of the original Sicard snow blower, another great invention from Quebec.

    Question from the back of the room: I can safely presume that the dump trucks are contractors, but is the snow removal equipment owned by the city?

    • @zacaryrobichaud9888
      @zacaryrobichaud9888 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      From what I've seen since I was young, it looks like the city is divided between city service teams and contractors. So you could have city plows and snowblowers loading contractor dump trucks or contrator snowblowers loading contractor dump truck. I rarely saw city dump trucks being used for this job.

    I assume the CANBEC is the contractor or heavy equip. dealer?

    Why is it so common for you to use wheelloaders for literally anything? Like Snowplowing and for the snowblower? Where I live you mostly see tractors using those implements.

    • @edgeprod7368
      @edgeprod7368 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I think it's mostly because they can use the loaders for construction projects in the summer, so they get used throughout the year.

      The sheer amount of strength that those things have allow them to move very large amounts of snow , and once they gather up the snow they can detach the plow and hook up a bucket then move a snow bank if a snow thrower isn't able to handle it.

    • @msterpeter1
      @msterpeter1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Durability,power and the fact you can put a lot more implements on a loader for this type of work and if one breaks down they can use the other loader to take its place.on the big snowblowers they used to have the Larue type but when ti broke down they had nothing to do ithe work now its just an impliment either loader or blower can break they can use others and cost also,many of these equipment are rentals for winter use.

    The driver of wheeled bulldozers raked 2 garbage cans along with the snow, it was necessary to put them aside to an empty place where there is no snow.

    Get ready for special design truck which can disllove ice into water.
    Machine will be costly but not
    costly processing charge.
    I have seen one truck which convert ice into water but I don't know how much it charge for processing ice into water.
    We have to work for converting ice into water at minimum cost.
