- I couldn't let the starling page go without trying to capture the beautiful colours. So I've stitched a close up portrait using some black stranded cotton for the base, all finished off with single strands of silk thread. It will make a double page spread with my previous starling embroidery.

What a beautiful Starling. They do shine in the sun. You captured its glistening feathers perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talents with us all.🎉❤
You've made a MASTERPIECE--you must just be thrilled! I'm going to have to watch this one again to try and absorb more of your techniques. STUNNING creation!!!
😂 Thanks for that.. He did come out a treat... I've had an idea for how to fix the puckered fabric too. So 🤞 I'll show how it all ends up.
I love your starling portrait and the blouse you made. Please keep stitching in your garden when you can. It is so perfect there!
It's so lovely to stitch or knit outside. Unfortunately the weather has started to change now. It's actually pouring down today 😏🌧️🌧️🌧️
Another amazing piece of work ❤❤❤ I don't think there is anything you can't do, it is a real pleasure to watch your video's xx
Thanks for that Gillian. I'm afraid I do like doing a whole lot of different things 🤣
It's not even winter yet... which for me means knitting season......💕
I love when you can work in your garden. Lovely, peaceful, love the bird singing.
He is truly spectacular! The starling is a fabulous bird and you’ve really done him justice. Your work is so intuitive, Marion. It’s an absolute joy to watch and listen to your thought processes as you work. ❤
💐 there were hours of stitching that went into this starling...🪡🧵
@@marionsworld24 ...but so, so worth it, I think ❤️
Thank you Marion for another lovely video. Gosh he’s handsome and stunning with all the lovely colours in his feathers. It will be lovely to see how you decide to place him on his page ❤
I think I've just worked out how I'm going to do it! I'll post the fix once I've done it 😊
Another stunning piece of work. Thank you for sharing your thought process, and for the little tips and hints along the way.
Thank you too. It's nice to get feedback that lets me know I'm on the right track with what I'm doing. 💐
Absolutely stunning. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
💐
Loved watching your beautiful stitching!! ♥️
With your love of colour it seems like the Starling is made to measure for you to recreate. Lovely work !
Your stitching fluency is so inspiring to me, a beginner. I try to do just a bit every day, hoping that in a decade or two I'll have a fraction of your talent!
Thanks Virginia. That's all you need to do really. A little bit every day and all of a sudden you realise that you can create all sorts of things. I've sewn since I was so young I can't even imagine how amazing it must be to be learning about the wonderful world of embroidery as an adult! I hope you enjoy all your stitching, whatever you're creating!
Oh my !!! So much work & it’s just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
Love Starlings, used to love to hear them in the winter as they flew around the roof tops in the city centre, where I worked. An impressive piece of work again Marion 🙂
Thank you so much 🐦⬛🧵🪡
Wow your starling is incredible Marion! The colours are stunning against the black, it looks like fibre optics !! I’m enjoying your posts so much. And hope you continue to enjoy doing them! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome talent!
Thank you 🐦
I am in awe of your beautiful stitching Marion. What a clever lady you are.
So kind Gina. Thank you 💐
Beautiful stitching Marion! A perfect starling portrait.
💕🐦⬛
He is a superb little starling! Lovely work Marion and as soon as the video started I was curious about your blouse!!! Nice recycling!!!
You really brought out the beauty I think so many people miss when they look at a humble starling. A lot of people just see a black bird and miss all the subtle coloring. Good job!
Thank you so much 💐🐦⬛🧵🪡
❤ TFS! Beautiful !
Another lovely video, love your blouse xx
This is fantastic Marion thanks for sharing. Those metallic threads really do look wonderful against your stitches.
Thank you. I hadn't even realised that my sister had them either! She'd bought a lot of colours and only ended up using one or two of them. 🧵🪡
Love the starling Marion, layering all those stitches was a lot of work but well worth it. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.
💐
So beautiful
I was so relieved when you said you'd been stitching for 6 hours straight, because I was watching thinking how incredibly fast you stitch! 🤣This is just fabulous work, Marion. Love your gift of recreating beautiful images with thread - magical. 😍
Thanks Leanne. Altogether it took me nearly 8 hours of stitching over two days. It was so lovely to have that sunny day outside to work on it...
You are very talented Marion. I so enjoy all” of your videos. 😊
Beautiful job stitching. He looks iridescent just like a real starling.
🐦⬛
Absolutely stunning - you are so talented !
You're so kind. Thank you 💐
This is going to be a fabulous video to watch all the way through but I just thought I'd pop in a comment now to say I would love to buy one of your bags so I look forward to hearing more from you on this when you've got things sorted 😊
Thanks Helen. It's a bit to sort out but I'm on it 😊
A darling starling!💖👍😎🙂
I pulled up a similar image of a starling to look at while you stitched. You nailed it! I was especially impressed with the colors on the beak. I’m glad to hear you’re looking to sell some of your art. I wish you great luck with that! Thank you for another absorbing video. I enjoy hearing your voice, listening to your needle poking through the fabric and hearing the thread make your stitches. I feel I’m there with you in the sunshine. 🌞 It’s lovely camaraderie. 💜💜💜
Thanks so much Mara. It all feels a bit daunting to be working out. But I feel it's also the way I can move forward into earning something too. I just wish there was someone else to do all that so I could just carry on making things! 😅
Outstanding work!! Absolutely beautiful😍😍. I have watched this video 3x as I so enjoy watching you bring this bird to life. Thank you for sharing your awesome talent with us👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Oh my goodness Brenda. Thank you so much for your support. He definitely took a lot of stitching. You'll have to look at the other video about how I fixed the puckering and flattened him out.. :)
Hi Marion: I have not been commenting. I always am worried you will be overwhelmed with all the comments. Your Starling portrait is stunning. I love watching you and how your art comes to life under your talented hands.
Thank you Brenda. I do like to read all the messages I get. I suppose as the channel hopefully grows I might not be able to reply to them all, but at the moment it's a pleasure to write back. 😊💐
Great idea to use doily! But I'd never thought of it
.
Love this so much and your garden is amazing!!
Beautiful workmanship
😊🧵🪡💐
Wow…such stunning stitching ❤
Thank you so much Connie 🧵🪡
This starling is looking very good. I love the metal thread. That little shiny "thing" between the feathers is just enough.
Thanks Marjan. Yes..it was already looking fine, but Wendy's metallic threads just added that bit extra.... 😊
He is amazing!!!! So are you!!! 😊
😅💕🧵🪡
Looking foreward to buying a bag !!
🤞🤞🤞
Isn’t it amazing how time flies when we are doing something we enjoy! Hopefully you took breaks to eat and stretch ❤ This is another beautiful page. You make the process of setting colors so effortless. Once again I say, you have an gift and amazing talent for color composition. Thanks for another eye candy of a project.
😊 thanks so much Cris 💕
Poor old cat wants attention, so cute, and this starling is breathtaking, Love this, just beautiful, wish I could stitch this out.
🧵🪡☺️
You are so inspiring.
Brilliant work
I love your Starling Marion. Beautiful as always
💐😊
I love the rose behind you with a two tone.xx🐝🐝🐣
It's a beautiful rose. Good health and it flowers so much. It's called For Your Eyes Only. Because it's at the gate through to my garden I have to keep it well pruned. But it can grow to a good 4 feet across. 🌹
Beautiful stitching.
You have a good eye for details, love your videos
💐
Beautiful Marion … just so gorgeous …. Love your blouse too and Beau is gorgeous, I guess he was hungry xxx
She's just a noisy old lady. Naomi just worked out that Boo is almost 15. 😻
❤ your Starling with the silk thread highlights.
Thanks Wendy. I think he came out lovely too 😊
What a beautiful thread painting!
Thank you Terri
Beautiful
You do such lovely work! Love the blouse you had on made from the neckline of an old nightgown! You are so talented. Your bird looks so good, so realistic!!
😊💐
Danke!
Thank you so much Angela! I really appreciate that. I'm pleased you're enjoying my videos 😊💐
I'll be retiring in 2 weeks and then I'll finally have time again to paint, draw, crochet, sew, embroider and you give me so much inspiration. But it's especially your personality and your way of presenting everything that are so endearing.😊
Thank you so much for your encouragement. I think I knew so little about filming everything that I just try to talk as if someone was in the room with me. It seems to be working thank goodness ☺️
OMG Marion that is just gorgeous!
Thank you!
Also love your blousewell done ,good use of old pieces
💐
Another beautiful project.
💐🐦⬛
WOW that is one beautiful starling portrait Marion, well done, I’ll love it, I love your blouse too, great idea
Thanks Jean . Sometimes you just have to try something. If it doesn't work out, at least you've learnt what not to do...or you find a better way. 😊
Very pretty top.
Thank you. It is a 19 30's nightie neckline with my scrap fabric patched onto the body 😊
Lovey! I’m am so inspired by you art!
Thank you ☺️💐
Your starling looks amazing.
💐
Exquisite
Thanks!
💐 thank you very much Irene 🪡🧵
😍😍😍
Lovely colours and stitching
Thanks Faye. What sort of thing do you like to make?
I’m been an embroider , a beadworker a patchwork , and my occupation was a hairdresser and I love doing all of them at one time , had some ill health lately and still do lots of stuff just at a very slow pace. I love to watch your tutorials.
Oh.. I'm sorry to hear you've been poorly Faye. All sorts of things can stop us enjoying what we used to do or impact on how we do it. I'm happy you say you're still creating in a slower way. The things I do have definitely changed over the past 2 years. It's the way I cope with things.
I'm pleased you're enjoying my videos too. Thank you 😊
Soooo pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Unfortunately we don't have a shady area in our garden here and what there is after the sun has moved around is taken up by plants! Thus on Saturday I sat in our coolest room (our bathroom!😂) to stitch as I tried to keep cool yet do something without much movement! The starling portrait is beautiful. It's often difficult - despite using a frame- to avoid a slight pucker or two. At least there's a breeze today!
What a picture you've given me of stitching in the bathroom!😂
I'm lucky I have my little courtyard with the parasol. ... and a plentiful supply of iced squash too 😊
So talented
❤❤❤❤❤❤
💐
I also have gardener's hands and discovered last winter that walnut oil works wonders. I made a lotion based on walnut oil and it was terrific. You might try just a little plain walnut oil, or if you can find (or make) a walnut oil based lotion, I think it could be worth a try. Your Starling is gorgeous!
Thank you for that tip Bernard. I do have some walnut oil. I'll give it a try and look for a lotion recipe too 💐😊
Beautiful starling! It reminds me of a book years and years ago called Arnie the darling starling. On the bags, a colored one would be beautiful, but a line drawing might be fun to embellish as we wish.
I'm hoping to be able to do both types, but it's a lot to sort out at the moment... it's just the sort of thing Michael would have done for me.
@marionsworld24 Don't get overwhelmed. If you're not ready to expand, take baby steps and sell just pdf patterns so you don't have to worry about manufacturing and shipping costs. I know the site has taken off, but the last thing you need is to be burned out. Please just remember to breathe and enjoy creating.
@@rachelmurguia9874 Thanks Rachel for your positive support. I didn't realise just what I was getting into when I started off! It's all good at the moment though.💐
Thanks
Hi ,I’m sorry for you loss. 😢 I’ve been watching all of your vlogmas 2023 ,and enjoyed it so much.thank you again.😊
Thank you so much Suzie.💐💐💐😊
Absolutely beautiful starling Marion you’ve perfectly captured his colours. Just an idea, would thread wax help with silk threads? Thanks for sharing ❤
I did think of waxing the thread, but thought it might not have been the correct thing for silk. I do use wax when I'm hand sewing clothes though.
I learn while I watch you stiching your piece of Art and listening how you interpret your method. And I do love your soothing voice.
Blessings to you and Do you have a p.o. Box?
Thank you.
I'm afraid I don't have a p.o. box though ... I've never needed one 🤔
Boo thinks you spend too much time on your embroidery, and not him. The starling turned out beautiful.
Ha! She probably does!
Thanks!
Thanks Rachel. You're a ⭐
