I was BLESSED to get a reservation to the Blue Bayou last year on my Birthday trip to Disneyland. It was one of my goals in life to eat there just once. I did have to get the meal at 9:30pm but still I got it and I was even given a table next to the water where the ride passed by. I was so happy. BEST BIRTHDAY EVER! ❤️❤️❤️
We are going next week - it’s often a disappointment for us but we still go occasionally. The steak is the only good entree but we did had bad steak there once. Nothing is reliable at Blue Bayou except the Gumbo! They have good desserts too.
We have some friends who go to Blue Bayou on every family visit as a matter of tradition. It’s their splurge meal for the week. And it does have nice ambience. If you know how the food is you can set the proper expectations and still have a good time.

I've been watching all your videos in preparation for my family's first trip to Disneyland in August, and I had booked a reservation for dinner at Blue Bayou, but after watching this video and watching your lunch at Cafe Orleans, i opted for Cafe Orleans! I really appreciate all your tips and tricks for Disney vacations! Y'all are such a sweet family!!
We opted for Cafe Orleans as well and we're happy we did. Can't go wrong with the Monte Cristo sandwich. If you like mushrooms, the short ribs are amazing as well.
I've been to the Blue Bayou several times, but it's been quite a while ago. I prefer going for lunch since the Monte Cristo isn't available for dinner. However, since I discovered that Cafe Orleans has that sandwich all day and at a lower price, I haven't returned to the Blue Bayou. As far as the kids' menu, it seems unusually skewed to healthy items. I don't think strawberries and steak would go very well together. The ambience is great, but very dependent on where you sit. Once I was seated by the kitchen and my view was watching the servers go in and out with the food. Your videos are great and very entertaining! Happy Anniversary to you and Amy!

I went for my first time a couple of months ago. Was nowhere as lucky with seating as you were, I'm slightly jealous because I had reservations two months in advance. Couldn't even see the shooting star that goes overhead from where I sat. Food was underwhelming, and they didn't have their advertised 100th Champagne flutes available, and no way for a raincheck. So underwhelmed with what could have been an amazing Pirates themed dining experience.
Sorry to hear that. For future reference, definitely put in a seat in request when you check in. We did that here and did the same at a restaurant in Hawaii with an amazing view. Here we didn’t have to wait any extra, but in Hawaii we waited an extra 30 minutes for the view, but it was super worth it.
I probably wouldn’t have gone back except we haven’t ever reviewed it here on the channel, and I wanted footage of the food for next year’s Food Guide. 😂 Otherwise, we probably still would have kept on avoiding it.
I went years ago and never went back. Food is mediocre and its too dark. There are so many other restaurants in the park with much better food and prices…Carnation Cafe, Cafe Orleans and even the Plaza Inn.
Thought I got lucky when I saw a 9:30pm reservation then realized a few things & cancelled it: 1. My kids won’t want to eat dinner that late 2. Years ago when we ate there it wasn’t good 3. You really have to get a seat with a good view and sometimes we haven’t gotten that. All first world problems of course, but when you’re promising your kids for a view of the ride it can be a hassle. 😅
Such a great theme. It is so similar to Captain Jacks in Disneyland Paris, but with a much better menu. The one in Paris is very limited and mainly fish.
I bought the Fantasmic pkg. The food was ok. We had pork and potatoes, and I think green beans. Potatoes were good. Yes, it is dark in there. The dessert was some kind of jello, pudding It was weird. You definitely pay for location more than anything. It is super cool. We even got a cushion for Fantasmic. Very nice.
My family and I dined at the Blue Bayou for the first time a few months ago. We were lucky enough to be able to be seated with our friends that were at Disneyland with us (we both made separate reservations for our families, but for the same time) and asked if we could be seated together (or near each other) and they made a big table for all of us. My husband had the market fish (Chilean Sea Bass), I had the Monte Cristo sandwich, and my daughter had the steak kid meal. My daughter loved the kid meal, but it definitely didn’t fill her up, but she was able to help me with my meal and then the 3 of us split the Crème brûlée for dessert. We added glow cubes in our mint julep and Louisiana lemonade, which was so really special. It was a great time and our food was delicious, but I doubt we will try to repeat the experience. It was fun, but so expensive.
It wasn’t always so difficult to get reservations here. Covid definitely changed public demand for this place. Pre-Covid, you could usually get reservations within the first week of when that 60 day window opened up. Now, it completely fills up within the first 30 minutes, making it virtually impossible for most people to eat here.
Excellent restaurant review! Some of the specialty beverages come with the souvenir glow cube (that glow cube we watched in other Blue Bayou commentaries remind us about owning Hello Kitty themed watches with Christmas themed flashing light show). Our short videos show the demonstrations of our collection of the watches with flashing lights. We used to enjoy Disneyland many many times in our lives and Blue Bayou was one of our favorite full service restaurants. Jambalaya, steak/seafood, and fresh fish (rarely) were some of our favorite meals! In that case, we enjoy spicy foods a lot!
We were there on Monday. Food and service was great. Was disappointing older teen/20 something had to keep his MJ buzz going in the Blue Bayou bathroom. He returned to their table near us to sit right across from his dad. Come on parents…. Killed the experience for me.

I love the Blue Bayou! The rib eye is delicious and the prices are just like a steak house. It is a hard reservation to get. I would go back in a heartbeat

We are coming from New Zealand in August. I have managed to get a reservation at Blue Bayou but are having problems trying to get one at Carthay Circle. That seems really popular.
They both are very popular. You can always use a site like mouse dining to try to get one. We weren’t impressed with Carthay Circle the last time we went. Felt like the food was way overpriced.

So I’m totally confused as to why this reservation is so hard for people to grab. We just booked our reservations for our August trip a couple of weeks ago. I set my alarm for 5:00 am each morning, which is 3:00 am PST, and each morning I had the pick of the litter for all reservations. Even into the morning I still had openings….so either we are the only people going to DL that week or people just need to get their read ends outta bed earlier.😂
August and September are historically the lesser crowded months of the year at Disneyland as people are gearing up for back to school, and depending on districts, are going back during those times. It also helps if you're going for reservations mid week vs weekends, and especially blacked out dates for annual passholders. There's many reasons. I have been to DL when I could get all the reservations my heart desired, but also when it was by luck of the draw and setting an alarm for openings to pop up.

Last time I wasted good money at Blue Bayou was 2015. The food was less than ordinary and so expensive. Things were cold when they should have been hot and service was not good either. Won’t ever go back.

I went to blue bayou for my birthday. It was a disappointment. I knew it was so-so, my expectations on food is based on price. It better be good for the amount you're getting and how much you're paying! It was okay. Go to Lamplight Lounge ya! Now that's the place for good food! And its a lot more affordable that Blue Bayou.
Love your videos! I had my birthday dinner there last week and no special treat. I did get a cupcake at Goofy’s kitchen (I was so stuffed from the buffet though)! I had the filet and sadly your video came out too late to save me!! I ordered medium and it came medium rare and couldn’t eat it. My husband said something to the waiter (I was not going to say anything). They agreed it was not cooked medium and brought me out a whole new plate, but the steak was chewy and fatty. My husband tried it and said it was not good as I am less of a meat connoisseur. Apparently we might get spoiled in the Midwest with good steak, but my husband did not care for the tuna steak he got either :( The gumbo and drinks were amazing!!! The service and atmosphere were great. We got a water table too, but due to food quality we will not be back.

I didn’t spend a dime to go into Disneyland, at least not recently. I paid almost a year ago. So yeah, the steak is a breaking point for me. 😂 When you break my pass down into how many times I visit, I pay about $30/visit and since my parking is free at my pass level, I really hardly spend anything to visit the park.

My friend and I are planning to go to BB in a couple months, and aside from making a reservation on the app, (which I plan to do at the crack of dawn 60 days before) I’m at a loss on how to better our chances for those coveted seats. We ate there too, it looked like the same seat. I only booked it because my daughter loves Pirates. 😂 It was very average and over priced to us. Fun atmosphere though. I probably wouldn’t eat there again. We don’t really like Cajun food, but it was ok.
Is it possible to upgrade to a dining package to Fantasmic show while eating in this restaurant? The dining package seem to have been sold out on the day of our visit to the park. Just wondering if there is another way of watching Fantasmic from this restaurant if we cannot get the ding + show package.
They don’t do dining package upgrades at the restaurant itself. That does require advance reservations. And they are limited. Riverbelle Terrace offers a dining package that is ONLY first come first serve day of, as opposed to reservations. It’s the same “deal” if you will. All three locations that have Fantasmic dining packages all sit in the same general area to see the show. And you all line up at the same place. Blue Bayou just has priority as it’s the most expensive so they have the best viewing area. But we did Riverbelle and it was great. All that being said, Fantasmic isn’t going on right now. They haven’t announced when it’s reopening. The dragon caught on fire back in April and has been out of commission ever since. It’s possible it will reopen in September but no official reopening date has been announced.
Well shoot. This is disheartening. I’ve wanted to eat here since I was a kid and was planning to book it for my son and I when we visit in august. Those kids meals looked so sad. Lol. I keep thinking I’ll do it just for the ambiance and the experience but I’m kind of a foodie and I’d really hate to walk away disappointed. 😣
The kids meal at Blue Bayou was better than the kids meal at Cafe Orleans. I would still think about going for the ambiance and if your son is still hungry then find a great snack after your meal.
We went in Feb total waste of money. Had the monte christo and gumbo, and corn fritters and 2 drinks spent 76.00 dollars food was terrible. Won’t eat here again
Traver, this has nothing to do with this video but I just want to let you know your channel is the ONLY channel I will let my children watch from now on after pretty much all the other channel's we USED to watch posted videos celebrating a certain night at the park.

The ambience is the only real reason to go there. And it has awesome “wow” factor for a first time guest.

My family and I dined at the Blue Bayou for the first time a few months ago. Yeah. It never used to be that way, but a lot of little perks have disappeared over the years.
Just booked cafe orleans on day 1 and blue bayou day 2. Very excited despite some so so reviews.
Be sure to get the Pommes Frites at Cafe Orleans and the Gumbo at Blue Bayou. The two best things on the menus.

Just ask when you check in! That’s all we did. They are usually pretty accommodating. Tell them you are willing to wait for one to open.

We ate there too, it looked like the same seat. I only booked it because my daughter loves Pirates. 😂 It was very average and over priced to us. Fun atmosphere though. I probably wouldn’t eat there again. We don’t really like Cajun food, but it was ok.
It’s definitely an atmosphere restaurant. One of my favorites growing up was Rainforest Cafe. As I got older, I realized they had terrible food. 😂

Is it possible to upgrade to a dining package to Fantasmic show while eating in this restaurant? The dining package seem to have been sold out on the day of our visit to the park. Just wondering if there is another way of watching Fantasmic from this restaurant if we cannot get the ding + show package.
They don’t do dining package upgrades at the restaurant itself. That does require advance reservations. And they are limited.
Riverbelle Terrace offers a dining package that is ONLY first come first serve day of, as opposed to reservations.
It’s the same “deal” if you will. All three locations that have Fantasmic dining packages all sit in the same general area to see the show. And you all line up at the same place. Blue Bayou just has priority as it’s the most expensive so they have the best viewing area. But we did Riverbelle and it was great.
All that being said, Fantasmic isn’t going on right now. They haven’t announced when it’s reopening.
The dragon caught on fire back in April and has been out of commission ever since. It’s possible it will reopen in September but no official reopening date has been announced.

Well shoot. This is disheartening. I’ve wanted to eat here since I was a kid and was planning to book it for my son and I when we visit in august. Those kids meals looked so sad. Lol. I keep thinking I’ll do it just for the ambiance and the experience but I’m kind of a foodie and I’d really hate to walk away disappointed. 😣
The kids meal at Blue Bayou was better than the kids meal at Cafe Orleans. I would still think about going for the ambiance and if your son is still hungry then find a great snack after your meal.
We went in Feb total waste of money. Had the monte christo and gumbo, and corn fritters and 2 drinks spent 76.00 dollars food was terrible. Won’t eat here again
It is definitely not the best in terms of food quality. You are more paying for the atmosphere.
Traver, this has nothing to do with this video but I just want to let you know your channel is the ONLY channel I will let my children watch from now on after pretty much all the other channel's we USED to watch posted videos celebrating a certain night at the park.
I imagine Provost won’t say anything about it either. They’re probably the only other Disneyland vlogger we’ve ever even met up with.
