  • If you have Superior Walls and want to finish them but don't know what to do with the corners, this is an easy method I found that works great! It's good, solid framing that will easily hold any finish material that you want to put over it.

Good video. I live near the Superior Walls factory in Millville, NJ. Had their walls in my basement for 9 years now. Did the same thing in my corners. Love the wall system and not a single issue with it so far after all these years.

Thank you sir for the tutorial. Been looking for a step by step guide to build corner studs for Superior Walls.

Put a 2x6 block in between your floor joist and PT mud sill. You can place it to attack your corner and also be backing for your ceiling material.
I’ve used superior walls in a handful of builds. Personally, I wouldn’t use them in my house, as a first option.

Great video. Can you do a video putting drywall into the superior wall?

Glad to see you were able to get your slab poured and upper floors sheathed without the foundation walls sliding The heck with framing corners-HOW are you gogin to endure no leaks in these 8-10 long cracks (aka joints) in this system?

The system has been around for a few decades and its been doing alright so far. Zero leaks.

Love the video. I just bought a house with Superior Walls and was looking to put some corners in.
What kind of insulation is that between the studs?
When I was looking into it I read not to insulate Superior walls because they’ll sweat.

What screws did you use to hang your drywall? I know they recommend adhesive as well, did you have to use self tapping screws to puncture the metal plate?

Thank You so much for this!!! Are you going to do drywall on the superior wall side eventually? Curious to see what you do because I need to do all of this too for our home gym. Yours looks amazing btw

I don’t have drywall on the exterior gym walls, but I have something. That will be in the upcoming Part 3 of my gym build.

What insulation are you putting in between studs? I have Superior walls from 1989 with orange fiberglass, Im starting new construction on the basement , i was going to do the spray foam deal, those cavities and corners worry me, knowing where the bolts are i can see my footer stone. Lots of advice appreciated thank you

I've just been using mineral wool. Its supposed to be fairly moisture resistant, which it preferred with this system. If you can do spray foam, then do it. I'd prefer that, I just haven't wanted to spend the money. If you're concerned about some of the joints, I have another video about how I've tried to seal the corner joints. A good polyurethane caulk could be good too.

how do you like your superior wall ? leaks ? settling ?

    • @makework
      @makework  ปีที่แล้ว

I think it’s a good system. I’ve had no water issues and if they’re has been settling, it’s been minimal and I haven’t noticed.

DOES THE CITY INSPECTION APPROVED THIS ?

    • @makework

Approve which part? The corners? Not sure they’d care much since it’s purely meant as another point for fastening optional wall material.

As a Structural Engineer how these walls pass code is beyond me. They are garbage. Wall using pea gravel as footing

Best Foundation to have buddy, they move with the earth not against it, they are also dryer than any foundation you can find , water passes through the chip stone and your 2b underfloor, always keep in mind stone doesn’t settle nor can you compact it.
