Seriously though, thanks for mentioning it takes 40 years of life, and 18 years of marriage. People (including me) are in such a rush to get things and forget that everything takes time!
Building material costs have nearly tripled in the last 12 months, if your project isn’t a need it/want it NOW kinda thing, I would advise waiting a year.
Yay Christine- you guys are killing it! Keep us posted on the rental property- so cool. My kids are still a little too young for us to take something like that on, but want to purchase a rental down the road.
Experiences are everything! 5 years ago we did a big trip to Italy- on our last day we were at St Peter’s Cathedral at the Vatican and my son - who was 12 at time - put his arms around me and said thank you so much for this trip. I could have cried with joy. That is what I want for my kid - the memories not a bunch of toys that he won’t remember.🥰
Goood morning Christine! Love it! No debt, no mortgage, hefty savings makes for such a happy and less stress life and marriage! - proud of you to keep on keeping on and reaching!!!
Until our foodstorage was complete we went on small driving trips just back to see family. We live in Texas, family was in California. We hit the goal for foodstorage so, the last one was a 4 week trip with a tent trailer and we learned about different areas. We then saved and bought a travel trailer and figured why not see the USA instead of going to other countries. Big goal, going to Hawaii for our 40th... in 7 years.
I bought a new mattress 2 years ago...luckily I still love it and it was the first non hand me down ever. It's totally scary to pull that trigger - you've spent all that money and you don't love it. For a solid month before...every night I thought about what I wish for. Wish it was softer or wished I wasn't so hot. So on...thats how I finally decided. Also I only spent 1200ish and it's awesome!
We are trying to pay off our house too! Its not the most fun, but so fulfilling! Great Job Christine!! 🎉🎉🎉 I also, love that you have other goals laid out, so you can save for them! traveling as a goal is awesome!
Wow! You are really kicking butt on your goals! Congratulations! There was no better feeling for me than making my last house payment. And some of my family's best memories were our annual summer vacations. We loaded up the station wagon that mom had fitted with curtains she made from terrycloth towels. We had a thick, foam mattress in the back end and that was where my brother and I hung out. We played license plate bingo and took turns navigating using the Rand-McNally road atlas. Every morning before checking out of the motel our job was to get ice for the ice ches to keep our drinks, snacks and lunch sandwich items cold. Even years later we would still always talk about our annual vacations. It would be great to get to take your family on an annual trip before the kids are too busy with jobs or off in college. When you plan your Scotland trip, please allow a few days to visit Ireland . It is the most beautiful country but even better are the people. They are so warm and friendly, you have to go visit there. Enjoy dreaming your various vacation destinations; you are closer than you think!
I love how motivated you are and you honestly motivate me so much! At the start of last year my goal was saving for a house. I had decided I wanted to build and in Australia a large amount of government grants were announced to help the Covid economic recovery. So 2 days after they were announced I signed up to build. So I’m now building my first home, I have no other debt and saving for all the finishing items I want! You have been such an inspiration, thank you! Now I want to smash the mortgage and pay it off in 15 years, all on my own! Thank you!!
You are blessed. Can’t wait until we are at that point...unfortunately it will be down the road when the kids are out of the house😞I am happy for you. It takes a lot of work!
I feel like an amazing bed that you basically spend half of your time sleeping in has more value than say a backyard project as far as where it lies on the list of priorities.
We also just got a purple mattress about a month or 2 ago? And it is fabulous!! So glad we took the plunge. 10 year warranty and could not be happier! Edit: we have th .4 the thickest one, and it is like sleeping weightless.
Very exciting stuff! I agree, bed shopping is very stressful. It's hard to tell in staore what you will love for 1/3 of the net 10 years or so! But you're being cautious so it is likely you will choose well.
Love spreadsheets! We're working on a last bit of creditcard payments (they are much less a thing here in the Netherlands), then paying back some smaller family loans and then the mortgage. This while saving for a new bed, putting away money for a new car in a few years and thinking about redoing the bathroom (the shower is in the bath and there's a lower ceiling there -> my tall Dutch husband does not actually fit under the shower. Good thing he likes the bath). So financial progress on the other side of the ocean as well!
I actually made a map of pastry shops in Paris that have been recommended to me over the past ten years...so tempting. Also, I live in the Lake District in the UK and you guys would love the activities here x
Funny how small the world is - I grew up in Cockermouth, now live in Germany... and see a comment on an American TH-cam channel from someone else from the Lakes!
Just FYI, we just got back from Cancun and our resorts Covid precautions were better than the US! Fancy sanitizing machines and foot mats. Really impressed with the resorts there!
We just bought a new bed at the end of last year. Totally worth it. My back no longer hurts. Memorial Day is coming up and there should be some sales on mattress soon.
Wow! You and Dave have down an amazing job of achieving your goals. I have a Tempurpedic bed, and don't regret the $2100 or so that I paid for the mattress some 10 years ago. I chose a lower model and got the best sleep. I got 6-7 hours of deep restful sleep, for the first time, in my adult life. So, you don't have to pay $6k for a good mattress. Whatever you choose, just remember, this is an INVESTMENT, in you and Dave.
The Costco sheds are pretty good. Ours is 10 plus years old and looks almost new. As long as you prep the ground the way the kit says, sand then gravel, then patio blocks, then large pins hammer drilled in. Ours takes a lot of wind as we back on a field. And sheds over a certain size require permits which is why they stick to that size I think.
We got our Tempur-pedic bed hslf price by finding the one we liked and then asking if they had the last year's of same yet in warehouse. Years of luxurious comfort.
YES! You are right about eating your way thru Europe and all the pastries! Thanks for the inspiration on starting my own CHANNEL!! Love ya lady and all your spunk!
Can definitely recommend Spain, Scotland, and France. I had the time of my life in each place and would like to go back again once things return to semi-normality. And South America would be a good trip, especially if you added Antarctica to it. That would be super expensive for the whole family, but I can guarantee that you will never, ever forget that experience
We bought a Bamboo mattress a couple of years ago and love it. We didn't pay more than $1,200 for it...can't remember exactly. I'm so glad we got it. We sleep so much better than we did on or old, hand-me-down one!
Try a bed in a box because they usually let you try it out for 100 days up to a year and return it if you don't like it! I was terrified to buy a bed this year too. We spent almost 2k on a Helix mattress and it is nice, definitely better than our old bed, but I am not sure it is 2k nice. I am going to return it and try another mattress. Maybe a purple mattress.
We find we like to buy kits and do ourselves we are always happier than when we hire someone else’s to do it, def have a pro do the concrete though so worth it.
I've had my Lull mattress for about 18 months now and I love it. It was only around $2,000 (and they do sales to save a few hundred very often), which made me feel even better about what seemed like a lofty purchase.
If youre a back sleeper then the sleep number is a good buy. My husband and I got one not knowing that and we are side sleepers. Its still really comfy but there are better beds for side sleepers. We are looking into the Purple bed
Check out the Basque Country in France, explore parts of Spain at the same time...it’s a two for one! Maybe check out the pilgrimage, “The Way” and do a portion. You are so right...so many amazing places to see!
When I need a bed again I will buy a Sleep Number bed only!!! Then I can have it exactly the way I like it. The Tempurpedic mattress you are looking at....did you see how much that thing WEIGHS!!!??? Also I think they are hard. Go to the showroom and lay on it for an hour. My parents have one and paid a small fortune and my mother hates it because it is so hard. I live in Florida and purchased my mattress from The Original Mattress Factory. So my bed was built 100% in the US, actually in Winter Park, FL.
I love these goal updates! We are working on our emergency fund, and are so close to fully funding it!! We have been accumulating a list of projects to start saving for next, and it's so fun. Good luck on the offer you made on the investment property!
I’m from Scotland and you will definitely love coming here. Don’t just visit the central belt ( Edinburgh and Glasgow) go to the highlands too. ( Inverness where Loch Ness is).
Do you ever wish you could be more like other people? This is kind of how I feel a little. I'm so glad I watch your channel because it makes me want to be better, but I really wish I could be more frugal to make dreams come true. Like saving for a house is a thing for us. We want to build too because I just don't like the newer pre-fab homes and I don't want to take on a renovation project. It's taken us nearly 3 years to get to $5000. Sigh. But thank you Christine for being such a model of positivity and I feel like we can do it for sure just wish it was faster.
Love this! Our first goal for this year is to pay off Credit card debt (halfway there🙌🏻🙌🏻) Next goal is a “new” truck for hubby and then paying off the house!
So glad to hear you are going to Moab! Have you been before? If not, you will be amazed. Be sure you go to Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point in addition to Arches. Different landscapes but all unbelievably beautiful.
We just got home from Cancun with our kids. It was a great experience even in the midst of Covid percautions. Covid test was a piece of cake. We try to go to Cancun At least once a year... It's good to be back into the groove of things since taking a year off. We fly out of DFW. It's a two hour flight. $130 round trip on Spirit Air.
For how much time we spend sleeping, and how long good quality mattress last... I would definitely invest on the 5k one. We are 15 years into our 5k matters and its still going strong.
Christine, as for your mattress, I have a Tuft & Needle Mint and I love it. And they're not super crazy expensive either, which is what drew me to it, because yes mattresses are expensive. Check them out!
We went to a mattress maker here in San Diego and had our mattress made after having a horrible experience with a tempertedic mattress. For as crappy our old bed was our newest one is so good!
Check out tuft and needle mattresses on Amazon! So affordable and I absolutely love ours. I believe you can return within a time slot too if you don’t like it. It has very good reviews.
Can you do a video on how you find such good vacation prices? I’ve never traveled outside of the US, and hear so many bad things about the travel companies but have no personal experience. I would love to start making memories with my kids instead of presents for Christmas this year!
We just bought the temprapedic firm. Love it. With adjustable base. 3200.00 was freaked out paying that much but last bed had 13yrs in spare room. Have to think how much life spent sleeping. Just buy the bed.....
I sold Mattresses for 4 years. When it comes to a Mattress use the trial period. Most places will give a 30 day trial period. USE IT! Don't sleep on it one night, your body will need time to adjust. You will also need to break in your bed like you have to break in shoes.
I traveled to Mexico City a month ago. Most hotels/resorts will arrange the Covid test for you and your family. It shouldn’t be too hard to get that done. You do need to call your hotel and see if it’s a charge for the test or if it’ll be free. Also, you’ll need to see if they accept US dollars or if you can pay in pesos.
Once you're empty nesters, a train tour through European cities is amazing and budget friendly.
You should look into buying a floor model at a furniture store. That’s how I got my tempurpedic bed at about %70 off!
We built our house in 2007 and paid it off in 2020. Being debt free is the best feeling ever!!
Christine, you hair looks amazing here. Thanks for all the good videos.
I just got the purple hybrid mattress and it was less than 2K. It’s the best mattress I’ve ever had. It helps my back and no more hip pain!
That's so crazy because I bought the same mattress and I've never been in more pain. Absolutely hate it!
I was gifted a purple mattress- my friend hated it.
I absolutely love it.
It helps not aggravate my fibromyalgia or other aches 👍🏻
@@rthornsley81 I think I’m right there with you only 20 days in
Goood morning Christine! Love it! No debt, no mortgage, hefty savings makes for such a happy and less stress life and marriage! - proud of you to keep on keeping on and reaching!!!

Building a covered back patio is much more expensive than expected.
We got a Purple Mattress 2 and we really like it. It's not cheap but it's not as expensive as that!
We are trying to pay off our house too! Its not the most fun, but so fulfilling! Great Job Christine!! 🎉🎉🎉 I also, love that you have other goals laid out, so you can save for them! traveling as a goal is awesome!

I have an ikea mattress and it's great. Everyone in my family switched to ikea mattresses and everyone loves them.
A return to London and a trip to Scotland are the next adventure for me! Hoping maybe 2022 will be able to travel

Try the purple bed... We bought it, because my husband had back problems. We had it for about 2 years now and no more back problems.
Agreed! I just got one and I love it!
I agree love Purple!
I love my Purple mattress.
We also just got a purple mattress about a month or 2 ago? And it is fabulous!! So glad we took the plunge. 10 year warranty and could not be happier!
Edit: we have th .4 the thickest one, and it is like sleeping weightless.
Yes! I’ve had my purple for.. 4-5 years? It’s amazing. Also got the original purple pillows. It’s an adjustment but I won’t go back!
Very exciting stuff! I agree, bed shopping is very stressful. It's hard to tell in staore what you will love for 1/3 of the net 10 years or so! But you're being cautious so it is likely you will choose well.
Barcelona calls - Sagrada Familia is ONE of the most amazing places we have visited - you must go

Sigh...Your travel saving updates make me crave my 2020 trip to Scotland I had planned. Here's to 2022!

I second that. Went to hard rock in Puerto Vallarta and they were great.
We just bought a new bed at the end of last year. Totally worth it. My back no longer hurts. Memorial Day is coming up and there should be some sales on mattress soon.
You are on track to have the house paid off in 2023! Way to go!
Just turned 40 at the beginning of April. It's a great view on top of the hill!!!!!!
Wow! You and Dave have down an amazing job of achieving your goals. I have a Tempurpedic bed, and don't regret the $2100 or so that I paid for the mattress some 10 years ago. Yay! Another video from Christine this week ☺️ you are really spoiling us with all this great content this week 💜
Yay! Thank you!

We need a house payoff update Christine!! 🏡👍💞
We got our Tempur-pedic bed hslf price by finding the one we liked and then asking if they had the last year's of same yet in warehouse. Years of luxurious comfort.
I'm going to Cancun in May 9,2021 we got ours threw Costco and we got a great deal.
I fizz over numbers! Such a nerd here, thanks for sharing, my favorite videos of yours!!
YES! You are right about eating your way thru Europe and all the pastries! Thanks for the inspiration on starting my own CHANNEL!! Love ya lady and all your spunk!
Can you get a retractable awning? It seems like you might want as much sun as possible back there in the winter.
I can’t wait to hear how the rental property offer goes!! 🤞
Love the idea of having a travel savings every month for family trips and great memories to be made without the worry of paying for it.
LOVING this property investment content, please keep sharing your journey! :)
This definitely gives me a lot of incentive to save save save my friend
Love spreadsheets and love your outfit!! 😍
Thanks so much 😊
Way to keep after the financial goals
Can definitely recommend Spain, Scotland, and France. I had the time of my life in each place and would like to go back again once things return to semi-normality. That would be super expensive for the whole family, but I can guarantee that you will never, ever forget that experience
I'm Portuguese living in Scotland for the last 22 years. I recommend both countries
With the money you have after your cars paid off is a big family vacation before they go off to college.
We bought a Bamboo mattress a couple of years ago and love it. We didn't pay more than $1,200 for it...can't remember exactly. I'm so glad we got it. We sleep so much better than we did on or old, hand-me-down one!
You have made a ton of progress! Way to go!
Thanks! My favorite videos of yours!
Glad you like them!
Happy for you to start your travel fund!! We went to Chile for our honeymoon and LOVED it! Can't wait to go back!
So cool!
Reach out to some mattress companies. They might hook you up with a mattress in leu of a review. 🤷🏻♀️ worth a shot
I love Cancun. You're going to have so much fun. If you can take some excursions to cenotes or ruins definitely do it.
Try a bed in a box because they usually let you try it out for 100 days up to a year and return it if you don't like it! I was terrified to buy a bed this year too. Add Italy to your must see countries!!

I definitely think that you should do your backyard alone it's a great content for your channel
Good luck with the triplex! So excited for this content!
I was lucky enough to go to Paris for my 50th birthday. It was an unforgettable experience!
Pretty floral blouse!
Thank you! 😊
Us too. Live in MN and bought a mattress from OMF. We had our first OMF bed for 19 yrs. It is the best!! I thought the foam ones were too warm.
I love these goal updates! We are working on our emergency fund, and are so close to fully funding it!! We have been accumulating a list of projects to start saving for next, and it's so fun. Good luck on the offer you made on the investment property!
Just bought our first house so just starting on our house ownership journey.
That is awesome!
Thanks for the info! Planning on buying our first home with my husband this year. We’ve paid off most of our debt except our car. 🙌
Love ❤️ your videos and how amazingly constant you are
Best of luck with your Bid on the property😄
Just paid off my mortgage last week! Time for another update Christine :)
Great job!
Love these videos! So inspiring! Also...Scotland is amazing! You guys would have such a great time.
Look at the igel memory foam beds from Walmart!! So good
Love this! Our first goal for this year is to pay off Credit card debt (halfway there🙌🏻🙌🏻) Next goal is a “new” truck for hubby and then paying off the house!
Costco black stone memory foam mattress is amazing
As for the backyard, I say if you have the skillset do some work yourself- do it! It's always nice to be able to say- "Hey! I did that!"
Scotland is nice, but I have to say England and Ireland were the most fun. Paris is on my list as well as Italy because "cheese is life".
I am loving your videos !
💛 My financial goals are at a stand still. I need motivation to pay off debt faster.
Helix Mattress has sponsored a video for the Minimal Mom so maybe you could reach out to them. :) Tom and Dawn seemed to really like it.
I bought one, love it
Yayayayayay!!! Love these videos they’re so motivating!! 💕🎉✨
Glad you like them!
Can you do a video on how you find such good vacation prices? I’ve never traveled outside of the US, and hear so many bad things about the travel companies but have no personal experience. I would love to start making memories with my kids instead of presents for Christmas this year!
We paid off our mortgage in July of 2019 and it's the best feeling ever. No more saving for the beginning of each month anymore.
We did too - same month.
If you ever buy a new house I could not recommend an all in one mortgage enough! It's seriously the best financial decision we've ever made.
We just bought the temprapedic firm. Love it. With adjustable base. 3200.00 was freaked out paying that much but last bed had 13yrs in spare room. Have to think how much life spent sleeping. Just buy the bed.....
1 vote for the Costco shed and video!!
Waiting for another video!!
I sold Mattresses for 4 years. When it comes to a Mattress use the trial period. Most places will give a 30 day trial period. USE IT! Don't sleep on it one night, your body will need time to adjust. You will also need to break in your bed like you have to break in shoes.

My suggestion is get a quote for just concrete and all of it then compare to see if this worth it to you.
The bed is worth the money!!!
