This is very deep. That is something I will never forget. Something I thought about is when some if not most students reach to Shodan they completley stop training all together, thinking that they done the program. They don't understand that Martial Arts is a lifetime of learning new things abroad. Therefore, once you reach black belt, your journey begins anew.

So much wisdom from someone so young. My favorite line which I've heard you say a few times "nothing ever grows in the comfort zone"'. You are a real inspiration Jesse San🥋

I don't know if you ever read comments on these old videos, but I just wanted to compliment you on your authenticity. Ten Years of TH-cam videos and you still sound like yourself, still sound genuinely excited to be here! I can't wait to congratulate you on 1 million subscribers soon! You deserve it, man!

Hey :) I love how when you say, "Art's not something you hang on the wall", you monitor your students ( in the video) and when you say, "Art's something you do", you perform a move! Just love this video :) Great work Jesse-san !

Couldn't agree more. I just switched from Shotokan to Goju Ryu and now, holding the 8th Kyu again, I'm learning from Black belts that are half my age and younger. It's all about the ego. Thanks for the video! Keep on with your work, I love it!

Art is not a passive process where someone creates something. Art is an active process from which "works of" Art come from. It's the communication of ideas between you to others, verbally or non verbally.

  • @evanredd3137

Everyone knows that Karate is a martial art.
But few people know what art really means.
Art is not something you hang on the wall
    Art is something you do
And it always involves a learning process.
The problem is some people hate learning.
    I know why
Because to learn something new means admitting that you didn’t know something before.
Knock knock, who’s there? Your ego.
Learning doesn’t require humility it demands it. And that’s why some people just never grow. They’re too afraid to actually find out how little they actually knew. They see learning as defeat. Preserving the status quo is way more comfortable.
But nothing ever grows in the comfort zone. So learn and keep learning.
Because the day you stop learning, is the day you stop living. That is the art of Karate,

The problem with learning isn't admitting you didn't know something. It's not an ego problem either. The problem with learning is that most people are simply lazy. They don't want to put in the work and karate is certainly a lot of work.

    • @KenpoKid77
      @KenpoKid77 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Filip K. Though what you say is true, Jesse did say in the beginning that SOME people hate learning, and then went on from there. He wasn't saying learning is everyone's problem. Although, if there is someone who's being lazy, you have to wonder if he really wants to learn.

I like your perspective. But what you mean the art of karate, it is also in another disciplines (Painting, music, sports, etc.) which you keep learning all your life. So then, when we talk about "the art of karate" (I don´t), what are we really talking about? I don´t know the answer, I´m still looking for it... What is yours?

If you "Hate Learning" why would you ever put on a Karate-Gi? Why would you ever step foot into a Karate-Dojo? Karate IS learning, karate is learning about yourself. EGO is sport karate and sport karate is NOT karate at all, not even a little bit. If you know a lot of karate people who have big ego's you are hanging out with the wrong crew, probably the sport karate crew! Ganbatte Kudasai
