  • These 10 players were on track to being all time great players and hall of famers, but their careers were ended too soon due to too many injuries. Not all of these players got to show their true potential in the NBA, but before their injuries they were on the right path to doing so.

      Gaming Jailbreak yeah but put yourself in their shoes. For most of their picks such as the Greg oden one, they were considered the right pick at the time. Although KD put up huge numbers in college, many people believed that Greg oden was the better player. I will agree that maybe not picking Jordan was just a downright bad decision because Sam Bowie wasn’t necessary considered better than Jordan but even that pick at the time wasn’t considered to be a bad pick.

    • @UndeadItachi2

      @@Jlatr A lot of these GMs go with the safe route. Durant was recognized as a pure scorer who would need to bulk up. I watched Oden play & he his post game was clumsy at best. I'm no expert scout, but, come on son! A natural scorer & shooter vs. a big man w/o post moves is not really close. And Bowie was nowhere close to being considered as good or better than Jordan. Back then, the running joke was: "the only one who could stop Jordan is Dean Smith!" In those days, teams never won w/o a dominant big men! They already had Drexler & felt they needed a dominant big. They drafted wrong twice. Bowie had previously missed a college season due to injury. They could have paired Drexler & Jordan & terrorized the league. And they could have paired Durant with Roy and cause sleepless nights for opposing teams.

    Imagine if Bird never had no back injuries. Never got out of shape and could have never played half of his career is crazy pain. MJ may have never seen that 1st 3peat and the Pistons may have never won a Championship. Possibly white men can't jump would never mattered or been made. When you watch him play it's crazy his passing court awareness is just blow Magic and I would say on par with James. His scoring was like MJ and that was still being considered an un-athletic white guy. Oh he was just as clutch if not more than anyone. He also gathered in those rebounds and a nice stat line. Was a time he is the only player I think really close to MJ on talent and just winning mentality. Bird is what made the Celtics tick and it's sad he got injured and played injured as much as he did. You hear the stories and no one in the NBA was as tough as him today yesterday or anyday.

Yeah I saw a Christian movie about his childhood and basketball beginnings and I thought they were overreacting in the movie about his passing skills and shooting abilities but I guess he was just as good as they show him in the movie I started to really watch basketball in 1976 so I only watched him for about two or three years he was known for being at the very top in scoring nearly 30 points per game but not as great as Magic yeah but there's no one like Magic watching Magic was like watching one of the Globetrotters except that it was real 48minutes of entertainment magical indeed there's been someone close to Jordan and there will be someone better than Jordan but there will never be another Magic because the sports media did a great job downgrading Magic skills in favor of the more appealing flashiness of Jordan and yes Jordan was great but Magic was amazing magical.

      Penny was a hof talent, the best player out of that list. Penny's injuries some of it was his fault. He got injured in the 96 playoffs against Detroit in the first round. Joe Dumars accidentally slammed his knee on Penny's left leg. (Google Penny Haradaway Joe Dumars injury). Hardaway didn't play for the rest of the series against Detroit, but Detroit still got swept 3-0. Penny exacerbated the injury on his left knee by playing against the Hawks and then the Bulls, and then playing in the Olympics during the summer of 96. So when training camp started for the 96-97 season, his injury flared up and he missed 28 games and had to have surgery. The problem was 28 games wasn't enough for a full recovery, so he was playing injured the entire 96-97 season which further worsened his injury. In 97-98 his knee broke down because of his foolish decision to play injured the previous season and he missed the entire 97-98 season, well except for the all-star game.
      Had Penny just sat out the entire 96-97 season, he would of had a full recovery and he probably would have won a championship, because that Magic team was really good.

    Food for thought:
    Anyone think about how these injuries changed the game of basketball? ' The Logo' is someone who the NBA thought of back then to introduce the 3-point line. Andrew Bynum, Greg Oden, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway... they all changed the game too. Bringing in what was then called "streetball" into the NBA smaller high flying guys then came forward as the main attraction, big men are in a sense illegitimate in the game now, with all teams playing "smaller" without any big threat of a big man like those in this video.

      D Rose is like G hill “what could have been” D rose would have been at his prime right now, he is the youngest MVP ever and in the east would be perennial east conf finals

      And maybe even Drazen Petrovic. Really there are so many that could be on here and that is the real sad part to me. So much talent we never got to see.

    Brandon Roy had no meniscus in his left knee when he was drafted. Had his first knee surgery in high school. He played his short career on one leg.

    I hope this won't be the thing for Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

      Kd is already an all time great in the top 40 even if you hate his guts. You can't compare that to a Brandon Roy.

    • @Nikexel
      @Nikexel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucasfamily4670 I know that and I agree, but you're saying that as if I'm not calling him one of the greatest player who has the potential for it to be ended by his latest injury. Which is literally what I'm saying.

    I would replace Jay Williams with Derrick Rose. Although JW would probably have been a very good PG, he was no match for DR's first step. When DR had his ACL his whole game came crashing down (it induced more injuries).
