Man thank you again for the review! An I agree, Our sizing chart is not the best. Jon and I Own that and are working on getting a better sizing chart. I glad you like the Gi and thank you for training in it and supporting the mission! I hope you love the FLX pants as well. We created them to have a one way stretch across the butt and thigh area. took us two years to get it right and 1 year to get that raptor weave right.
Found this video, searching for a comparison between Raptor Axiom, Nano Pearl, & Warrior. Website left me searching for more comparisons. I own 2 Nano Pearl Gi`s (1 white - 1 black), 3 days a week, for the last 6 months, they are holding up well, the black is weathered looking but holding up well, I wear black most of the time because white was getting to dirty and white pants where pilling up with stuff, I had to scrape the pilling off. Now I bought the black Flex Pro pants and they are awesome. Fit awesome and still look like brand new, no pilling. I will buy more Flex Pro pants and maybe a lighter weight Warrior Gi jacket. That’s what I’m researching anyway. I’m 5`10, 265 wearing A4 and it fits really good as long as I don’t gain any weight, which gaining weight isn’t my goal. lol Great review.
Duuddeee, your Video literally saved me 100's of dollars and possible back and forth between sizing and replacement for the Gi. YOU'RE 100% RIGHT! 1. SIZE: I'm 5.9" and 155 lbs, with a pretty lanky figure and thin waist. I bought an A1 in spite of the size chart recommending that I buy an A2 and the A1 FITS ME PERFECTLY. I'm so glad I watched your review before purchasing. 2. FIT: I found the pants to much Baggier than expected, with a lot of room around the thighs. Even though I had ordered the latest FLX PRO PANTS, they feel like old school jiu Jitsu Pyjamas when I wore them. Very different compared to the SLIM FIT BJJ Pants I'm used to wearing from other brands. (Again you were spot on here 👊) 3. Material: Probably the lightest thing I've ever worn in BJJ. Especially the Jacket. Almost makes me sceptical about how it will hold up over the years. Only time will tell. For the FLEX PRO PANTS: I was expecting a lot more Stretch when they said they are FLEX PRO. There's absolutely close to no stretch in the pants. Almost feels like wearing pants under my office suit. Very Polyester like Feel. Overall won't go as far as to say "Flex Pro" for any flexibility that they have. The clip lock works great and is a welcome change for me. Additional info abt Origin RASHGUARDs: I also bought a rashguard, and found the one I bought A VERY TIGHT FIT as per the recommended size chart. Personally I'd suggest others to buy ONE SIZE HIGHER for RASHGUARDS. Quality was not that different than previous ones I owned. Nothing revolutionary imo. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase and look forward to the Experience of using it. And I want to extend my heartfelt Thanks to you for sharing your detailed honest review and guiding my purchase ❤️ Oss
Great Review. I’m a huge fan of Origin. Waiting on the new release this month. I agree 100%. Their top of the line gi, Axiom is worth the money. Thanks Origin for putting out a great product! You have to order them immediately cuz they sell out QUICK.
On the sizing comment, I think their newer gis are running a bit big. I have 2 rift (runs small) 2 Path(Perfect fit) and a nano DEF(runs big) all gis are A3, I have also noticed inconsistency in pant size. All my pants are 34x28 and they all fit different. Overall, I will still never buy another gi brand.
Thanks for validating brother. I think their experimenting with new textiles drives slight variations in sizing. But that’s a good problem if it means my gis don’t shrink and last longer.
I totally agree. I am the exact same size as you. I wear A2 and 34/28 pants. My path and nano fit perfectly and my rift is slightly smaller - still fits but a bit more form fitting. I am starting to prefer the pearl weave over the axiom / dragon weaves as well.
@@Jiujitsu.pilgrim yes I agree. For those who still prefer the feel of a traditional gi, the pearl is the way to go. I just got the raptor and it feels like I am rolling silk pajamas lol - almost feels like cheating
100% agree and felt the same way when I heard him say it. I have two and they really are like a pair of PJs...the more abuse you give them, the better the fit, the smoother the roll. :)
Received the black DEF gi and white Comp gi today - while the FLX PRO pants are absolutely perfect, both A3L gi jackets are unfortunately too large. The sleeves are too long/broad and the shoulder/chest section is as well. I've reached out to Origin to ask for an exchange, probably going A2L instead. But other than this sad realization, the material and quality is absolutely top notch. I can't wait to get the right size gi jackets.
@@Jiujitsu.pilgrimindeed. But their customer support is ace and helping me very quickly. Other sizes are on their way. Jocko would say: "GOOD. DELAYED GRATIFICATION." 😂
Appreciate the info..just ordered a Path Gi and went one size down..I’m an odd size apparently at 5’9’’ and 215 lbs so ordered an A3 and looking forward to seeing how it fits.
I think it will fit at A4, brother. I've had a lot of comments that people are buying the size they normally get and it fits. Either way, they take good care of you from a customer service standpoint. Let me know how it fits.
Great video thank you... I love my Origin Gi and yes it does give you a slight advantage over your opponent in a tight spot. Yes, the size chart is wonky. I am 5'9" 227lbs. they recommend A3... unfortunately the sleeves are too long for my liking and the wrap around my belly needs a bit more material. I will buy another one but in an "A4 short" for starters ... I really like the fit and feel of my Fuji Suparito kimono A2H although the pants are like an athletic cut or low rise.... not the best. IF you have the money, You need at least 1 origin gi in your closet. IMO
Had similar sizing issues. I'm 6'3 215 and they say I should be in an A4. The A4 was huge on me. Even the A3L I purchased has sleeves that are too long - if I could do it over again I would probably try an A3 regular even though thats not what the sizing chart says.
Hey! Hope you're doing well. After a year, how do you think their gi's hold up? I want to order their DEF gi and reached out to their customer support - great people and very helpful. I'm 6'2", about 191 - 195 lbs, and their new webapp sizing guide tells I'm an A2 but their normal size chart tells me I'm an A3L. Customer support also advised me to go with A3L but seeing both your Origin videos I might want to go for an A3 instead. Other Gi's I own are also A3 and their sleeves would be perfect when new, but become a little too short after some shrinkage. Unfortunately I live in the Netherlands and can't just go and visit Origin to try them on ... which would be amazing. Anyways, hope to get the right size when eventually ordering one.
Its been amazing. Sturdy, easy to keep clean and to be totally honest, I feel like my Jitz improves when I wear it. I know they were working on their sizing issues because they’d heard the feedback from a lot of people. I think you should take whatever they're recommending and tailor it if its too long. Let me know how it goes!
@@Jiujitsu.pilgrim Heya! Placed an order for a white comp gi and a black DEF gi yesterday. It's already been shipped and expecting it next Tuesday. Can't wait! I'll reply here with my opinion. So stoked.
@@Jiujitsu.pilgrim Thanks! I'm just starting BJJ this month and for now I'm gonna use a cheap gi, but once I lose some weight and get into shape I want to order an Origin Gi. Right now "The Path" is my #1 choice.
Both have a minimalist design - the raptor even more so. Both are very soft - the Path Pearl weave is softest between them. The FLX Pro pants available for the raptor weren’t available when I purchased the Path, and the FLX Pro are far superior. In my opinion, the Raptor is a holistic upgrade but the Path is fine for 95% of practitioners.
