I feel the same way about season 1. We do not get this season without everything set up in season 1 so when i see people like "oh this season is so much better" im like okay thats great you like it but there isnt a massive difference in quality imo

Love your reactions and your commentary, as always. The comments about adaptation particularly cut right to the heart of it.
I noticed it passed without comment, so if you didn't know, the sword Narsil given by the queen to Elendil is the sword reforged by the elves into Anduril, given to Aragorn and used in the final battles of the LOTR trilogy.

Thanks so much! And I didn't know that about the sword, that's great lore!

As a humble lore-master, I have to say this show is doing great (there is a ton I never expected to see shown on the screen and yet they did). Haters are missing out something.
Also, Sauron´s "love" for Galadriel (and her Light) is the same as Margot's love for the Silmarills (Light)- obsessive and possessive. Thats what Charlie Vickers (Sauron's actor) said.

Happy to see lore-masters and booklovers that can appreciate this telling of the story 💕

I like the show so dont think i say this to be unecessarily critical, but sauron is not a entity that can fall in love. That sequence was kinda disturbing. I am overall happy about the show, but sauron was never a being that chased after love. Well maybe he was before Morgoth seduced him but keep in mind seducing in tolkiens sense is a bit different to what we define it. If they made it a bit more clear that he isnt interested in her but are just manipulating her then thats lore friendly. But pls dont force in love stories where theyre not meant to be (like the hobbit movies did). And yes i know its not love, but i didnt have a better word for it. But i liked the show overall ofc

I love both seasons. Like you I enjoy the story telling and I don’t mind it being slow now and then. I learn a lot about the characters and the world they live in. Good stories take time. I look forward to the next season ♥️ You are spot on and I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to this series 👍👏

Yes so true! Adaptations from book to screen need to fit the medium they are in ❤ I felt like this was a really good set up into S3! My only wish is that more of the characters get to share more scenes together! They sometimes feel very separate but I understand that most characters are literally on different lands 😂 the actors and cinematography was so good this season!

I feel like the evil wizard is either Saruman or one of the blue wizards. I thought he didnt turn power hungry until much later, so thats why maybe he's one of the blue wizards, that'd give the writers much more to work with since we know basicly nothing about them from the books

I think we’re getting a theme of civil strife next season. Brother against brother. I hope we have an emphasis on Isildur, since the one ring is being forged next season. Perhaps we’ll even meet Sméagol.
The first season introduced the three ring bearers and the three rings.
The second season emphasized Sauron’s connection to the nine rings. Elders were emphasized, and elders ability to create - whether those creations are cities, rings, homes, trees…or children.
Think of some of the fathers. The fratricide of Adar. The death of Durin the elder. Celebrimbor betrayed by his own citizens. Merimac’s father’s death is when they found his name.
That’s not even mentioning the theme of forgiveness, love, and pity. 🤩
Anywho, such an interesting season that I still have to analyze.

Fun fact: the highest fall a person ever survived was over 33,000 ft, and took over a year for the person to recover.

What really worries me is Sauron cut his finger before stabbing Celebrimbor with that spear... Was he binding Celebrimbor to his soul? 😧

I agree with you. The Dark Wizard has to be Saruman, he even looks like a young version. Go back and look closer at Sauron after he kills Celebrimbor, he has a long tear rolling down his cheek. I think he definitely had feelings for him and their relationship. I had to laugh at the look on Sauron's face when Celebrimbor called him "Shadow of Margoth"while trying to goat him into giving him a quick death, which he did with the spear in anger. I was grateful that Amazon didn't follow the books and allow Sauron to torture him for 2 days. Thx for your upbeat and insightful review.

It cant be Sarumann. He isnt evil at this point and that contradicts Lotr movies, which the show cannot do since they have rights to use certain appendices and from the movies. He only started to turn right before the lotr books. not sure when but after the hobbit ended.

Sauron is an angelic being, so I think he does not have human emotions. Yet I like actor’s performance and an idea that he had this bond with Celebrimbor. I think they had to story lines in the show, I prefer for them to focus more on rings creation and spend more time with those 2.

Tolkien wrote poignantly about love, especially in the Silmarillion. But to address what he went through in life: The Battle of the Somme in WWI.

Regarding the complaints about this show... I think something that really hit season one was that house of the dragon s1 was also airing at the same time which made space for alot of comparisons between the two. Personally, i did feel like season 1 of the rings of power was slow and had alot of plots that felt like they were going nowhere, but it all really tied up well in s2

While I enjoyed the first season more, season two was really good. But we need to talk about Arondir’s miraculous recovery? Are Mutants beginning to emerge in Middle Earth? Because that had to be some Wolverine tier healing there.

I was kind of on the fence for season 1; there was good stuff and I was fine with changes generally. I did disagree with some choices they made, but I understand them for the most part. I just didn’t think it fully realized its potential in season 1. This season was a near complete turnaround though, and I liked it a lot. And I agree, some changes are practical (like time compression, fewer characters, etc) and some changes are necessary to modernize the story for the current cultural zeitgeist. All of that is good, I don’t hate it. I do wish they had written the Numenor parts better, that they had made Galadriel slightly less rash and foolish (since she’s thousands of years old by the Second Age). Mostly though, not only did they stay pretty close to canon/lore, they expanded on some things that Tolkien explored in his last writings, or explained the beginning of things Tolkien only showed the end of. I am looking forward to season 3 and sad it’s going to be almost two years until it gets to us.

There is a "ship"! There is love between Elrond and Galadriel!!! Elrond kissed Galadriel in Episode 7 when she was Adar's prisoner and Galadriel reciprocated! Galadriel didn't refuse Elrond's highly emotional kiss! ❤

Aisha…I’m so disappointed in you….. this show is a steaming pile of nonsense. Not a single character has two brain cells to rub together. The cinematography is inconsistent, the accents come and go, the writing is lazy and bad, even the costuming is poor. I’ve loved some of your other reviews, but this is just a bad show.
