But, those like Hendrix and SRV weren't prodigies, they were inventors doin stuff never done before. And yeah...we ARE all lucky. RIP my brothers.

What's amazing is that he takes a very famous song from an Icon (Jimi) and makes it his own. That and the fact that he almost never even looks at his guitar. What Jimi did was so unique, that no one could do it justice. Along comes SRV (RIP) and salutes Jimi with a homage. True Craftsmanship. Thanks Mr. Video
RIP SRV, for real. I remember exactly where I was when we heard on the radio he was in a helicopter crash. Gutted. And when you said “RIP SRV” in the video it hit home again. It’s cool he’s still getting the respect he obviously deserves. Thanks Mr. Video. ✌🏽
Stevie and Jimi were Great Friends! Stevie is actually using Jimi Hendrix's custom made wha wha pedal! His family gave it to Stevie because he was the O ly one who could do justice to Jimis music! Aside from being such good friends! Another tid bit... Stevie had his whammy bar put on top like Jimi had his... even though Jimi actually played a right handed guitar left handed! RIP to those 2 Greatest guitarist ever! Randy Rhoads is included! Okay... Top three! The Best died young!
Becomes even more magical when you know the original lyrics💖 "Well she's walking through the clouds With a circus mind that's running round Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams And fairytales That's all she ever thinks about Riding with the wind When I'm sad she comes to me With a thousand smiles she gives to me free It's alright, she said, it's alright Take anything you want from me Anything Fly on, little wing" Perfection. Continuing with SRV, definitely recommend Lenny, Life Without You from the Capitol Theater in '85, Tin Pan Alley, Riviera Paradise, Dirty Pool has such a dope beat and is underrated imo...I mean I recommend anything and everything lol, it's not like you can go wrong with anything he did😌💜
Prime example of the Hendrix talent......this type- style of guitar playing was never done before Hendrix wrote it in1967....literally zero frame of reference ......check out the original...it has amazing lyrics by Jimi..the wah pedal he uses belonged to Hendrix..Hendrix estate gave it to SRV
Out of HS my buddy was stationed down at Ft. Hood, not far from Austin. He reached out to me and told me he just saw the greatest guitar player in the world at a club in Texas. Within a year SRV blew up like crazy and everyone knew him. I saw him live 4 times including once with his brother. Sickest performances. My buddy got to see him b4 he was even famous. Im still jealous
You said , I love you Stevie and I agreed. But this STEVE says I Love you to You . I never cried with laughter over your evaluation of Stevie V . You are the best and hope you do more of this man Stevie.
Local blues band played Little Wing at my mother's funeral. She was a huge fan of Stevie and loved his music. We were surprised when they started singing the lyrics... but they were beautiful and impactful...
I love how right after you talk about him adjusting strings, knobs, picks, etc. while playing, he immediately goes and starts adjusting his amp while playing
You should check out ALBERT KING IN SESSION WITH STEVIE RAY VAUGHN doing "DON'T LIE TO ME " Albert was Stevie's godfather and they really admired each other. You will see it if you watch, you'll see Stevie's abilities to, he's never played that song but as Albert starts playing you'll see him pick up just by listening! It's a great session to watch 💜💜💜
If you could read my mind, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (based on real life events) and Canadian Railroad Trilogy (also based on historical facts) are also great songs.
Ottawajames I would go crazy to see Mr. Video’s reaction to the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. So moving. Gordon Lightfoot is a living legend, I could go seriously deep on my requests for him. Side note: I lived in Ottawa for a couple years. 🇨🇦
Guitarists of Stevie's otherworldly ability have mastered the techniques so perfectly, they don't have to think about what they're playing, they are actually speaking through their guitar. This is why they make the faces and shapes with their mouth, and often, if you pay attention, the mouth shape mimics the sound. A perfect example of this is at 04:01 when Stevie hits the wah pedal and we get a close-up of him, you can actually see his mouth silently say "wah wah wah wah". There's just so much to talk about when it comes to his playing, but I prefer to just get lost in the amazingness of it. 🎸😀 RIP Stevie 💔
I personally believe STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN was just a very special Man with a God Gifted Talent that we are not meant to understand 💜 I've watched a lot of his documentaries and I've read articles about him and I think he knew from a very young age he was just meant to play the guitar. I read that as a little boy he slept with his guitar. He loved it so much. Very very few people are blessed like he was. To watch him and know how difficult he had his Guitar set up to play and to know he played with his fingertips literally glued back on!!!!! Just unreal. I LOVE STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN 💜 his life story is bone chilling. Thank you so much for your great SRV reactions much love to you brother 😘😘😘
I remember in an interview Stevie said it was Jimi Hendrix that made him want to learn the guitar. It shows! SRV is one of the few guitarist that did Jimi justice. It's not just that he's technical, he has soul. His playing is so mesmerizing and emotional that it brings tears to the eyes. The world lost such a great musician that terrible day back in August 1990. RIP SRV. BTW - the one thing people may miss in this performance is Stevie uses a left hand bridge whammy bar on his Number #1 guitar. That's because Jimi had to use a right-handed bridge whammy bar because they didn't make one for left handed guitarist back in the 60s. That's how Stevie paid homage to Jimi's playing style. Now that's dedication to the craft!
I live in the Austin TX area and I know people who knew SRV. They've said he was such a sweet person, humble etc but was also head strong in a way. We miss you Stevie!!!!
You should react to the originals of the SRV songs you've listen to. Little Wing and Voodoo Child, I mean Jimi Wrote them and even though SRV's playing is godlike they are still technically covers.
It's like led zeppelin, most of their songs were old blues covers by black folks long dead but nobody really cares lol. Have some got dammed respect I say! SRV played these songs to honor Jimi, then decades later people stumbling on to it have no context or understanding and stevie gets all the credit? I love stevie but nobody can Jimi like Jimi. Stevie did a great job of picking out the epic part of the song and expanding on it. But Jimi wrote it and recorded it in a single day as an after thought iirc. One of his greatest masterpieces he just said, hey I want to run through this thing. Lol that is true genius. as art on its own the single climax in the song is so fitting with the idea of the fleeting perfect woman in Jimi's short life, where as stevie's version of super satisfying climaxes drives home what was only teased in the original, because stevie don't give a fuck, stevie gonna play right to the core of the song like no one else could.
It's amazing exactly how captivating he truly is when he plays.... I mean phhhhffff, no words for it except maybe, "Flawless Victory"!!!and"Toasty"! He's so captivating I even caught you bobbing your head in sync with him til u realized it and looked at us like "hope they didn't catch that"... Sorry bro I did but it's S.R.V. so no shame just a personal sign of respect🤯mind blown! And well played Mr. Video, You too are a master of your craft. Seriously, even without all the lights, cpu graphics and recorded in a private studio! I'm serious when I say this bro, they need all those gadgets, whistles and bells to make it half as entertaining as your content! Without those crutches it'd be no competition. You'd smash. Hey Mr.vid family whatcha think about scraping together and make his next mail unboxing go towards setting this man up with the bells n whistles for vid production quality. If we pulled that off he'd soar in the viral cosmos
The way he plays is not just something you learn, its from the inside for sure. All the emotion just flowing when he plays. Its an extension of himself basically. He doesnt think about it. He just does it
Amazing to watch Amazing to hear he played with his whole heart and soul great reaction can't wait until you listen to SRV and Johnny Copeland "Tin Pan Alley"
@@efreeze287 We all have preferences. I'd like to know his. I'm not asking for a score. Just if he feels one more than the other. I think of it like grocery shopping. You want Ritz or Townhouse crackers?
The “original” version of this Hendrix song is on Axis Bold As Love album. The original, or studio version of Voodoo Chile is on Electric Ladyland album as well as the shortened version known as Voodoo Child Slight Return, which is what Stevie plays.
This is a Jimi Hendrix song and SRV kills it. Jimi did this song so well also. I miss both of them, their music was so good. Eric Clapton has called SRV the best guitar player in the world, he also gave that honor to Prince after SRV passed. SRV makes his guitar talk, outstanding! Don't be such a rookie, Mr. V., you gotta learn to let SRV go and deal with the stimulation overload. Clapton said SRV was a channeled guitar player who never made mistakes or got lost. That is high praise coming from the most technical of all guitar players. He is switching or making adjustments to his amps, adding fuzz tone.
Mr. Video, I've been watching your SRV reactions today and they're all great! All I can say is the Next time I stub my toe trying to turn on my lamp, I'm gonna feel real stupid remembering how SRV unplugs his guitar in mid song, flips it around his back, plugs it back in and keeps jamming!! Love your reactions, thank you!
Leo, Classic reaction and commentary! SRV and double trouble band touched your soul and mine for years! This is also a Jimi Hendrix song written and play by his band 1967! Jimi Hendrix and the experience band played this over 53 years ago! All over the guitar tremolo bar and pedal called a wha wha or nickname a cry bay pedal as getting the different sounds and effects out of his guitar amplifier speakers! Yes, a classic song and many artists covered this for years! SRV was all instrumental but there are lyrics check out Jimi Hendrix!
Jimi & Stevie were one with their music and guitar. The music just flowed out of them and anyone lucky enough to see them were blessed to witness the greatness. I got to see SRV once in 1987. I wish I wasn't so drunk and high to dull my memories of it...but anyway
I would love to see your reaction to SRV Capitol Theatre performance of Life Without You. You will be on a whole new level of amazement and covered in chills! lol The whole world needs to see this performance. It is so fitting for these times.

Thats a great description of SRV. It made me laugh!
I saw him live, twice. I couldn't even look at my guitar for a month afterward.... I didn't feel worthy of even touching it.
I was just thinking that I wish I could from watching him and Jimi Hendrix for the first time tonight on this channel.
Eric Clapton could only watch for 5 min. said if he'd had stayed he'd would have quit playing! BB KING thought he was black. said he was the darkest white man we ever saw.
I think this is The most beautiful live guitar performance ever
I agree this one is special!
I'm a big SRV fan, but Gilmore's Comfortably Numb performance at Pulse... If you didn't hear it yet, I suggest you to Tube it :) Enjoy!
If you think is good, check out this version from Stevie.

I don’t ask much, but please...Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland. You want to hear Stevie sing? Oh he be sangin on this one! ❤️

SRV - Tin Pan Alley at Capitol Theater in 1985. That song has so much feel. It’s bluesy AF
Stevie Ray went to someplace not on this earth when he played, and if you were lucky you got to go with him.
Everything he did was so effortless. Just sort of flowed out of him. Amazing.
At times you can literally see Stevie soul transcend out of his body, the man is on another plane

Thanks for showing me the gift 🎁 this man had.
SRV and Hendrix both spoke through their guitars such an awesome experience to listen to this great sound!
Stevie played with such intensity, he was seen glueing his fingertips back on after the strings tore them off. No one will ever top this man
The thing about SRV is when he's playing it becomes and extension of his soul and body. He's amazing.
This song is so beautiful it makes me weep, no just cry but weep
God bless Hendrix for existing.
If we pulled that off he'd soar in the viral cosmos
this is one of my favorites!
that guitar is sangin! he can make that guitar talk.....he IS the GOAT!
We all blessed to have this in our lives!!!
The way he plays is not just something you learn, its from the inside for sure. All the emotion just flowing when he plays. Its an extension of himself basically. He doesnt think about it. He just does it
I was fortunate to see him many times. A spiritual experience for me each and every time. God takes the great ones way too soon
RIP. SRV. Effortlessly playing the guitar 🎸
❤️ This song kills me. It's my favorite for road trips through the redwoods. It puts you in a trance. ❤️
Amazing to watch Amazing to hear he played with his whole heart and soul great reaction can't wait until you listen to SRV and Johnny Copeland "Tin Pan Alley"
So beautiful...that’s what makes him the best.
Brother when I was coming up in the early 80s... stevie was the man to replicate..... I was just happy to keep up when I was learning to play guitar
Been waitin on this. Love it. Someone else said pls do 'Lenny'. It's from the same performance, a song he dedicates to his wife - smokes in it too. :)
Now do the original Hendrix version for comparison and let us know which you like better.
Excellent idea!
Why's it gotta be a contest just enjoy them both, each is a world class performance thats unique in its own way
@@efreeze287 We all have preferences. I'd like to know his. I'm not asking for a score. Just if he feels one more than the other. I think of it like grocery shopping. You want Ritz or Townhouse crackers?
Sarry i love jemmy, butt you can hear mistakes when Jemmy plays, there is no mistakes when SRV plays.
The “original” version of this Hendrix song is on Axis Bold As Love album. The original, or studio version of Voodoo Chile is on Electric Ladyland album as well as the shortened version known as Voodoo Child Slight Return, which is what Stevie plays.
SRV playing another Jimi Hendrix song.
Agreed! The hardest thing to do is know where to pause! I love your Stevie reactions ❤️
Yay you did it! This is my jam!!!
Do yourself a favor put this in your car, find a winding road, windows down, full moon preferred, and crank it!!!
Stevie in charge...The Captain definitley will get his passengers everyone to guitar heaven ...no doubt....Ty brother
Can you imagine going your life time with out hearing this ! Loved this for a long time
Leo, Classic reaction and commentary! SRV was all instrumental but there are lyrics check out Jimi Hendrix!
one my fav songs, jimmy did it and many covered it. great song.
Jimi & Stevie were one with their music and guitar. The music just flowed out of them and anyone lucky enough to see them were blessed to witness the greatness. I got to see SRV once in 1987. I wish I wasn't so drunk and high to dull my memories of it...but anyway
One of favorite tune by SRV
Been patiently waiting for this one...
🤩🥰🤩🥰🤩
I love how much you love SRV
I would love to see your reaction to SRV Capitol Theatre performance of Life Without You. You will be on a whole new level of amazement and covered in chills! lol The whole world needs to see this performance. It is so fitting for these times.
Love it love it love it RIP SRV OOOORIGHT!
