A lot of BA's 777-200's are old and tired. I hope they get the refresh they need, because whenever I've flown long haul with them, the food and crew have been great. It's only the hard product that lets them down.
@@tjr_aviation Is that a bad thing? I personally prefer the Airbus product it has a better safety record, and the A350 looks like a real nice aircraft.
@@rugbydazz2264 No, it's a great thing. I personally feel like it's a bit wrong to say an aircraft is unsafe because of it's record alone as the 777 has been unlucky over past decade crashing due to stupid pilot errors and being shot down, things that Airbus planes have crashed because of too. Before these unfortunate events the 777 had a flawless record so can you really call it an unsafe plane than something like 340 or 350??
Great video! Brings back memories of the 2000s when I flew the BA 772s quite often. The interiors may be old, but they are 10x more comfortable and spacious than many of its competitors that have installed 10 seats per row.
Great video ! I really like that this cabin still has the original 777's 3-3-3 configuration that was a standard when the plane was released and was after replaced by almost all airlines into the now classic 3-4-3 config. Keep up the great work !
The 777 was designed as 9 across fuselage to fill the gap between 767 and 747, a gap that was ripe for replacemennt with end of L1011, DC10 and MD11 (all of which we 9 across). It was only after the initial failure of 787 sales that Boeing accountants decided to make the 8 across 787 sold as 9 across and then certified 777 for 10 across with reduced seat pitch, making alrline accounts happy. So the "standard" for the 777 should remain 9 across because from 1995 till recent years, it was 9 across and the 10 across fad is relatively recent so most of the 777's life was 9 across. It is a shame that airline accountants are going out of their way to make flying as uncomfortable as possible to push people to either not fly or pay for premium classes.
@@johniii8147 but still, it was definitely more comfortable with the 3-3-3 layout. I had a very comfortable time when I flew in one of the unrefurbished BA 777s in 2019.

I took BA from Dubai to London in September 2021 when it was planned to be an A350-1000 but changed to a B777-300ER. The aircraft was completely full and I got an aisle seat in World Traveller Plus. It was a very horrible flight as the crew refrain me from recording videos especially when they're seen. I'll be flying BA's 777-200ER from Gatwick to Doha next week and I hope I got a window seat and the crew is fine with filming
Great video and the rather vintage seats remind me of those on SQ's now-retired B777-200s and non-ER -300s! Like the BA B772 you flew on in this video, SQ's "classic" B777s also never had power outlets in economy!
I see no evidence of his flight being “below average” as you put it. Quite the reverse. David didn’t sugar coat anything, he merely recounted how the experience was for him. Why do you feel the need to be so aggressive? Look inward…
For a Dubai to London flight this cabin is alright, but the lack of power outlet and these old IFEs would be hard to accept on this day and age for a longer, 8 hour-ish flight IMO. But a 9 abreast seating configuration on a 777 is a HUGE thumbs up in economy. Would love to fly BA in long haul, seems like a great experience. Thanks for this video!
BA has new business and economy class and decided to change back to a high end airline and not a budget one under the new boss . It would take time to feel the changes .. but with soft products like catering it's starting already
Flying a -200 to Vancouver in May, really hoping for an equipment change as I've seen some A350s on the same flight the past few weeks too, already dreading the 9,5 hours in this cabin
3:15 Make sure only to bring a power bank certified appropriately for aircraft use. Cheap power bank devices are liable to catch fire, making whoever brings one on-board an unwitting victim of potentially taking down a large commercial airliner. BTW, in the 1980s and 90s, perhaps beyond, we coped easily and happily without having USB or aircraft power outlets available (except up the back for shaving).
Flown BA many times to Dubai, always good service, however last time went with Gulf Air as alot cheaper, they were superb as long as you don't mind transferring in Bahrain.
I love BA’s seats in economy. They are so comfortable. The head rest is the best I’ve ever had. One can actually sleep without one head’s lolling around. I do hope they keep those seats.
Yet again David, thanks for the great review. It is a shame that BA are re-configuring their economy on the 777's to put 10 seats abreast. If they remained at the 9 abreast, they would remain super competitive against the likes of Emirates and others doing the route. 10 abreast makes it a very cramped and unpleasant experience.
My thoughts exactly. Very few airlines flying 777s in 3-3-3 these days. It's a point of differentiation and a huge competitive advantage, especially with frequent flyers (the sort of passengers any airline really wants to hold on to) who know the seat layouts and look out for this.
Actually those plans of 10 are scrapped under the new boss , the old boss Cruz who turned into budget airlines almost planned that . The new boss wants airline to return to its high end status
Emirates is exclusively A380 out of Heathrow (and Gatwick too in normal times) so I don't think BA has a chance here either way! There's no way I'd fly with them unless they were significantly cheaper than Emirates, though I'm only likely to go to Dubai in transit regardless.
I did not expect that from Air New Zealand, an airline I always expected to be more of a full service carrier. So far only once I would’ve had to pay for IFE, that was on an Eurowings long haul flight and even there only movies except movies for children were behind a paywall.
I figure most of the B777-200’s have an updated cabin, it’s not too bad minus the lack of ambient lighting. The B747 however had it all including the latest IFE so I wonder why these aircraft couldn’t have been retrofit using the cabin fittings from the jumbos that were scrapped.
A long flight in Economy can be trying, but it appears that, except for power outlets, this flight met your expectations. The seating was reasonably comfortable and the food service was perhaps better than I would have expected.
I'd gladly trade a power outlet for a 3-3-3 economy configuration on a 777 any day of the week! You can bring your own power bank, but you can't bring your own seat.
The seat itself is just FANTASTIC. It’s hard to find this level of comfy seats in these days, and I’d rather prefer staying on these seats to get a better quality sleep

Trek Trendy, Nonstop Dan, and Jeb Brooks are all victims of that whilst commenting how "shocked" they are about being the only ones in first-class... @@danieljones1797 That's true; Business class will stay although most airlines are limiting or thinking of eliminating First Class for premium economy - makes more profit than First Class and in high demand - cause why buy a car when you can fly first class roundtrip?!? - They probably assume people who fly first class could also afford a private jet at that point
Nonstop Dan is even worse than being shocked at how few people are in first, he just acts Like a spoiled brat whenever he dosnt get what he wants. M&S is only available on short-haul flights. Long-haul flights like this one still come with free hot meals in Economy Class. And these seats are still in use. This video was recorded in October 2021.
To be honest, it isn't as bad as you make out! Yes, the media screens are abit old and could do with a refresh. However, I wouldn't like to be down the back in 10 across configuration!
So people have been complaining against United for taking a long time to complete Polaris retrofits, yet nobody is complaining about BA still having old cabins 3 years after introducing their new cabins? Make it make sense!

The 777 is my favourite aircraft type, so regardless of objectivity, I would generally choose a 777 over any other aircraft type if the choice is available. I'm old enough to remember reading about the 777 when it was in development, dubbed "The 21st Century Jet" by an author who wrote an account of the 777's development stages. I recall watching highlights of its first flight on the news on TV. So I have some affinity to the 777. It's hard to believe that that was almost 28 years ago now 😯

Trek Trendy, Nonstop Dan, and Jeb Brooks are all victims of that whilst commenting how "shocked" they are about being the only ones in first-class... Business travel is a thing of the past and I hope their TH-cam careers are parachuting them back down to earth along with first class itself.
Business clas isn't really dying just getting less popular
@@danieljones1797 That's true; Business class will stay although most airlines are limiting or thinking of eliminating First Class for premium economy - makes more profit than First Class and in high demand - cause why buy a car when you can fly first class roundtrip?!? - They probably assume people who fly first class could also afford a private jet at that point
Nonstop Dan is even worse than being shocked at how few people are in first, he just acts Like a spoiled brat whenever he dosnt get what he wants. In his first class review of etihad or something when people didn’t wanna be filmed and told him he was talking to loud he acted like it was literally the end of the world and people had offended his ancestors instead of just editing them out and being quiet

How about a flight review of the Etihad A380 Residence and the Emirates 777 game changer first class suite
we recently flew in economy from HON to ORD on a 10 across UA 777-200ER. tight vinylish seat very minimal padding but had all the port plus wi-fi work over the Pacific. UA needs to quit being cheap on meals.
Plane might be old but atleast they still got that cushion seat in economy. Call me a boomer but every airline now uses those damn flat seats
Simply Aviation Checkout the emirates 777-300ER Its starting to be a 5 star airline In 2022 I flown it yesterday and It was Awsome!
we dont really see 3-3-3 economy seating on 777's that much anymore
Fly Saudia . They have 14 of 777-300ER out of total with 3-3-3 configuration.
Flew BA's 777-200 in Club World from Delhi to London just last month, wasn't dissapointed! Well that's probably because it was club World😂 but the cabin was nice, the food was tasty and the crew was really professional and sweet!
Hey! BA economy class meal finished around 5 years ago and seat changed many years ago. Also customers want to food, can be buy M&S food and drinks in the flight. Why upload this film few weeks ago??
M&S is only available on short-haul flights. Long-haul flights like this one still come with free hot meals in Economy Class. And these seats are still in use. This video was recorded in October 2021.
This is a nice trip report. Every detail of flight service is spot on.
I wish there was a British Airways A380 flight from Manchester To Kuala Lumpur video.
BA don't fly the A380 between Manchester and Kuala Lumpur. In fact they don't have any long-haul routes from MAN at all.
To be honest, it isn't as bad as you make out! Yes, the media screens are abit old and could do with a refresh. However, I wouldn't like to be down the back in 10 across configuration!
It’s pretty poor for the price imo! Our BA plane was very dated and cheap feeling, the window blind was even broken…
Did anyone else notice the spectacular BA Concorde? 😲
I looked up the reg, 2009. Jesus. That’s not that old!
awesome
So people have been complaining against United for taking a long time to complete Polaris retrofits, yet nobody is complaining about BA still having old cabins 3 years after introducing their new cabins? Make it make sense!
Do you think that 3-3-3 configuration is great? You must not to see anything.
Due to the fuselage width of the Boeing 777, nine seats per row is certainly better than the now normal ten seats per row.
The 777 is the widest plane apart from 747 and 380 so a 3-3-3 results in among the best width you can find
I love these brutality honest reviews as well as the regular trip reports. It gives a great focus on what you would expect from that particular flight. Still can’t believe BA still are using some of those old IFE Systems. Hopefully they will be we replaced as part of the refurbishment. Looking forward to the next review! ✈️🇺🇦
It's hard to believe that that was almost 28 years ago now 😯
Yep, remember flying on BA 777 'ZE' mid 90s when she was only 3 weeks old...
Девид спасибо тебе что ты не смотря ни на что показываешь видео обожаю тебя
David - .....Good old BA.

Are you still are you still in London?
At least they still fly their 772s!

Brutally honest content so far is the best one
