- Greetings from the Adirondacks! Myself and friend Scott Ireland recently headed out for an overnight canoe camp on Slang Pond. We put-in on Hoel Pond traveled through Turtle Pond and into Slang Pond. We found this amazing campsite on Slang and pitched our tents for the night. The weather and company were absolutely perfect. Overnight got down into the low 40's which for me is perfect sleeping weather. I even brought wool socks.
This was a relaxing adventure, just what the doctor ordered. Chef Ireland cooked some amazing steaks over the fire along with some rice. We sipped Bearface whiskey and enjoyed a few New York State beers as well.
At the put-in on Hoel Pond we bumped into Butch & Barb Braun of "The Campfire Vlogs" TH-cam channel. / thecampfirevlogs
Along the way we also made two new friends "Sam & Marina", we would wind up chatting for several hours. All in all a wonderful adventure!

Great overnighter. We love Slang #1 site. We actually found that wood ladder floating on the other side of the pond several years ago and tied up on that rock for swimming. I’m surprised it’s still there.
Site #1 was occupied when we got there but site #2 was open so we nabbed it. Yes that ladder was still hanging on but we went around to the other side to get in/out of the boats. All in all a great overnight. Thank you for watching!

I really enjoyed that Joe. Makes me wish i joined you. Those steaks looked nice. I love how your were greeted by loons in Turtle…. and the morning fog in Slang was awesome. Come September there will be plenty of it which makes for awesome morning paddles. I hope its not too long before you can get out again
Thanks buddy! Glad to run into you at Hoel. Headed to Placid in a few weeks with my wife as it is our 25th anniversary. Definitely planning on some day paddles together. I’m spending most of Labor Day week at Rollins Pond and planning a week in October. Hope to catch up!

I camped on Slang last year, it has a couple beautiful sites for sure! Seems like you have a different boat for every video 😂
Slang has two really nice campsites. LOL yes it does appear that way on the boats. I truly enjoy buying and selling.
@@mrgjoe I camped at the other nice site, on the point, I think it's #2? I wanted the one you guys got, but it was taken. I hear you on the buying and selling! My wife (semi) jokingly refers to herself as my "brakes". If not for her, I would be living in a shack with lots of guns and canoes! 😂😂

I was just out there in june and did a quick slideshow on my channel. Got a lot of video to update. I wonder if you found the thunderbox as it was very hidden in the back of that site, we didn't notice it for a while until we started exploring. That slang pond site looks like it gets some overuse/multiple tent sites in the back. I *also* got a swift prospector (15' 2 seater) this year. The journal in the front was a nice touch on the video. Great job on the edit.
Yup we found the thunderbox and as you mention it is a little hidden. This particular site does get some use but we found it very clean and wound up setting up our tents in the back as well. Congrats on your new Swift, they are beautiful boats. Thank you for watching and for your comments I greatly appreciate it.

I was out there last weekend July 9th & 10th.. It got down into the low 40's.

Thank you for watching. There are first come first serve sites along Floodwood Road. You can also camp at Hoel Pond launch area as well as Osgood Pond. The Adirondack Paddlers Map (North) is a great resource and shows all the campsites in the St. Regis Canoe Area
Whats the red pack in the swift canoe? Looks like a nice size i was looking for. I have a backpacking backpack and looking for a better canoe pack.
