- If you spend enough time in a canoe playing hard, you are going to go for a swim. It is just a matter of time. Not all trips go smoothly as planned. Thankfully no one was hurt, seriously injured or worse.
WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET, It could save your life.

Justin and Josh were great and we all worked as a team, I cannot thank them enough for being there for me, you guys rock!

I am so thankful that the situation was not any worse than it was. So glad you are ok. Lets get the word out there....wear your PFD
Important share, thank you.
Thanks for sharing
God bless!
Holy cow man - SO glad you're okay - sucks to lose the boat, but hands down the most important thing is to get off the water able to walk. Also - SO DARN BRAVE of you to post a video like this - it's inspiring that you post the good and the not-so-good - we all can learn from this...
Thank you sir!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Your insight may save someone's life.
Glad you were wearing your PFD,bummer about the Hemlock but you can always replace a boat. Your able to paddle again another day, always a good idea having a couple of buddies along as well.
Thank you!
So happy you are OK! It happens...and it can happen to anyone...I've flipped in kayaks and canoe...no shame in it...glad you had your pfd...this video and Justin's will probably save somebody who will wear theirs now...your home...so it was a successful trip...
Thank you and that is exactly why we decided to post this video. We have hopes it may help someone!
Glad everyone is okay! Sorry for the loss of canoe. That orange SRT was very nice.
Thank you!
Glad you're ok Joe. I folded a canoe before. I was too young and stupid to realize the danger I was in.
Thank you, definitely took me by surprise.
Dang glad your okay. Sorry about the boat but good lesson for all to remember how fast it can go sideways had my share of these lesson for sue.
Thank you my friend! It definitely was an eye opener to say the least.
Thanks for posting and keeping the awareness going. A lot about this is scary!!
Thank you
Joe, I'm glad you're ok and grateful that you were paddling with friends who were there to help you out!
Thank you
That Northstar is gorgeous, hopefully own one some day.
@@TheSeriousWaterman it really is a beautiful boat
Glad to know you are OK.
I never put my legs under the seat for this specific reason - always worried about getting hung up.
A friend of a friend is a Ranger. The Ranger said in 40 years I never pulled a dead guy from the water wearing a life jacket! That phrase speaks volumes to me!
As far as the SRT. Would you buy another? What do you think of it compared to the other fabulous boats you have?
If you do this trip again, would you recommend air bags?
At 56 and being alone most of the time I keep thinking I need bags and have been tethering my gear to the boat just in case.
I as well always wear my PFD. As for replacing the SRT most likely not. I have bad knees and kneeling only boats are getting tougher for me to paddle, plus I have a Dragonfly. To be honest I do not know what if anything I'll replace the SRT with. As for air bags to be honest I'm not sure. None of these rapids exceed class 2 on this section of river.
Thank GOD everybody is safe! ALWAYS WEAR YOUR PFD!
Man, what an eye opener....so glad all is ok. What a scare.
I'm glad you and everyone else is ok. bummer about that beautiful boat. I always wear my PFD, NRS Chinook ! I have a hornbeck NT 14. it doesn't like the rivers too much, it tracks so straight - has no or little rocker, so it does not like to turn very quickly. I was thinking about an Esquif pocket canyon for the rivers. it a heavier boat, but could take a lot more of a beating and turns much easier. love your videos and Justin's as well.
I also have a NT 14 which is a great boat... A Pocket Canyon is definitely a really nice river boat.
Pinned my canoe in scotland 3 weeks ago, my daughter and I took an hour to un pin it, it was fuiiy submerged with all camping gear on board, so lucky to come out unscathed
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm ecstatic that you and your daughter came away unscathed and are safe. Canoes and gear can be replaced but you guys cannot, cheers!
@@mrgjoe thanks for your kind words 😊happy paddling
@@stephenbedworth3404 happy paddling my friend!
I'm glad you're good, man. I know it's heartbreaking experiencing that loss firsthand. But you're here, and I seriously hope you are able to shake it off and get back on the horse. Hopefully, we can all meet up for a trip someday. My incidents really shook my confidence but it's starting to come back. I hope the same happens to you.
You know that is an excellent way to describe it! I'm going to shy away from rivers for a little but as you mention I'll get back up on the horse.
@@mrgjoe I just started to select the slow and sleepy rivers vs taking them off the board. But you do what you have to do to keep moving.
Hey, question. I have a bad lower back. Is a sit in kayak or a canoe better? No hauling.
You would definitely get some back support. In my opinion Swift Canoe has the most comfortable pack canoe and kayak seats on the market.
Well then, glad you’re good.
