Hi! You still use the same concepts. So Ambiant lighting would be your overhead lighting. Typically a 2 x 4 or 2 x 2 lighting in a drop ceiling. Then add in accent lighting through decorative hanging lights say in your waiting area. Also sconces and other wall lighting or artwork lighting. Then your task lighting is your desk lamps. Same concept different spaces! 😊
Hi i am taking a course I dont quite understand lighting . Do you need all three lighting in every single room and hallways ? Also for example on a small dining room with only a chandelier as the ambien light how can you add accent and task lighting if there isnt much space to work . with? Lastly does candle sconces works as accent lighting?
Hi Lucero, What an awesome question!! So the first part, no I would say you do not need it in every room. But it would highly depend on the room, some hallways are grand in size and style, so those may have opportunities for using all three forms of lighting, but lets say you live in a modest home with only 1200 sq feet that might be to much. Now it isn't to say you can take advantage of dimmable lighting, or sconces in some non primary spaces, but you really have to determine if it even makes sense based on size, scale and function. I would say for your main entertaining spaces, kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms and rec rooms definitely aim to achieve all 3 for best aesthetics. I would say candle sconces would absolutely work as a form of lighting, it is such a warm and inviting lighting solution as well :) Hope this help and good luck on your course!!!
I'm not interior designer, but i do really interested in it since high school as i had an opportunity to study the basic of drawing the perspective view of room and building. I have only 1 overhead task light in the middle of the room. I really wanted to put the lamps in my room on my computer table and next to my bed.
Not sure how to know when I should get table lamp vs. floor lamp vs. a wall sconce. My living room is pretty but at night it’s dark no matter how many lights I put. I have high ceilings too
Thank you for your question! Ok so sometimes you may need to look at your wattage (not discussed in video) it sounds like they may be to low. Which means low light. As for how many. It really depends on the room. Lighting should make sense with what is there. Table lamps on a console table or side table. Floor lamp maybe next to a sofa or chair. Sconces over side board or flanking a mantel...all relative to the furniture and architectural details. But..if you have lots of lights and it is still dark. I would start with replacing your bulbs for a higher wattage 😊 hope this helps!
No you don't need to do accent lighting in the sense of a focal point, sometimes even just adding in some under cabinet lighting or some table lights will add just enough to give you that layered look that will help elevate a space :)
How can i diffuse the harsh cool lightbulb that i have on my room. I dont have any other light source. Give me some cheap tips to improve lighting please. No expensive and technical installations etc.
I always grew up with just one big lamp in the middle of each room hahah.
Really helpful, thanks!
Happy to help!

Hi, I don't have recessed or ceiling lits. What can I use for ambient lighting?
Try using table lamps, floor lamps and sconces :)

@@InteriorDesignHub that helps a lot! I’ll start there, get some brighter lightbulbs 💡 thanks mucho 🤗
Do I have to have accent lighting? I feel like accent lighting makes spaces feel like a museum and I don't want my home to feel like the museum.
