I remember hearing this in 2010 and being blown away by it. One could go into rhapsodies on this piece over the slippery ice samples, shredding motifs and alluring dynamics. Nice that there is a main theme that occurs twice to identify the piece with, after the intro and before the conclusion. Possibly the greatest piece of chip shredding there is.
@GameJudge Practice makes perfect. If you plan on using tracking software, it'll take some time to get used to how it works and it can be pretty fustraiting at first, though eventually you can pick it up. I guess Fami would be a good place to start if you wish to use a tracker; it's probably the most user friendly out there. Some musical theory can also help speed up the process a bit, though it's not essential:)
This video made me discover that an Apocalypse doesn't have to be bad. This one specifically is codenamed „Replacement Glass" and currently makes Microsoft switch out their NT kernel in Windows 10 for the Linux Kernel. This is good because the Linux Kernel is much more stable than the NT Kernel, although you'd only really notice it after having used a Windows 10 computer (with an earlier NT kernel version) which was already used for a longer time. To be fair, it's also possible to ruin a Linux Computer into slowness by installing too much stuff, but this hasn't happened to me yet since I have much more options to install software without the unneccessary parts (e.g. if I wanted to export my Godot game to my phone on Windows I'd have to install the entire Android Studio, but on Linux I can also choose to install only the SDK).
this and teh coffee zone. harmonically, structurally, conceptually, and in terms of realization: beautiful. i wish i could just pick up any project and work on it for hours. guess im not the one.
Congrats on the awesome song. I've played this for people who haven't even heard of chiptunes and they love it. Some've compared it to Michael Jackson, not sure how you'd take that, but I would consider it a big compliment: top 40 quality music from a Famicom. F*ckin awesome man.
@@prominediamond1818 Why would I have to do research on a little factoid I heard at a party once and forgot for years until I ran into this video on YT? I just asked the creator - that's my research. ^^
hey man a really really really LOVE you music and i'd really like to start composing on famitracker myself but i downloaded it and it makes absolutely no sense to me. I know it'd be a hell of a trouble but could you make some tutorials on how to use famitracker, thanks
I can only impart, what Steve said. It's really all about practice, playing around with the music softwar (FamiTracker in this case). I'd have never thought I'd ever write chiptunes. FamiTracker is actually a pretty cool tracking software. The good thing is, there are people who share their FTM's, so you can learn from them, or play around with their instrument banks.
I'm having trouble finding how to get that sharp vibrato effect that sounds a bit like an 8 bit cell phone ringing, if that makes any sense. I know how to do the regular pitch and volume vibrato effect, but I have no idea how to make it less of a smooth transition between the high and low keys and make it more of a direct interval between "vibrato between this note and this note only". Any idea what I'm talking about or advice you can give? Or any other good breakdown of Famitracker effects?
Damn. Well, guess I'm 7 years late, but this is called an "arpeggio". You can either create individual instruments to form majors or minors or sevenths, or be limited to three note arpeggios using the 0xx effect.

Just an absolute gem. This was one that got me hooked on chiptune.
This has still been one of my favorite tunes ever. Everytime I open up the ftm file and look at it, its just genius.
Revisiting this song years later and getting nostalgia chills. Still a favorite of mine.
one of the best ftm originals I've ever heard.
All this with just the VRC6. That's just amazing.
