It would take 6 hours of driving at first then get on a boat then sleep wake up and drive 8 hours and then the entire thing again when driving home. I had wired headphones so most of the time I just sat back with closed eyes, listening to this. I now know every beat perfectly.
It's still the 6502 (the NES' CPU) which is processing the code to send through to the VRC7 chip. Just like with the internal Soundchip, just that it's part of the same board instead of a separate board. So in this sense, it is truly the NES that is capable of this. Or rather, it isn't capable of even a single bleep - but its soundchip(s) is (are).
Yeah the 2A03/07 are more powerful than they're given credit for. Is it any wonder Game Freak tried to emulate them three times for three different generations of Pokémon? In case you're wondering, the hybrid palette of the GBA games and chip elements used in some tracks in Gen 4 and Gen 5 are what I mean.
I think... This is not made for a NES, the NES has 5 sound channels, 2 for highs, 1 for lows, 1 for only noise and 1 for stored sounds (the last one is not very used). He uses more than 5 channels. But, I'm little confused, so so something may be wrong in my comment.
I made myself an apple covered coffee cake and cup of Arabica just to enjoy this piece of music. The cake was great, the coffee was hot, but this tune was sweet fire.
Listen to those chords at the beginning. The Bm9 to F9#11 to G13, for example. So complex, yet so well done - and it really makes your music stand out over the rest. I'm impressed.
I’d like do make that. I don’t have all the instruments and won’t do a great job. Remaking songs is somewhat of a hobby of mine. Learn it, record it, and then it all comes together after adding bass and programming drums. I need to actually buy a daw and probably get one of the ggd kits instead of using free stuff so bad.

A relaxing song but I get really hyped up listening to it because of just how amazing it is when I remember what this song even is. A beautiful chiptune styled piece that en capsules you the whole way through. You want to know whats crazy? They had to write all their notes out on some program like notepad, then convert that to nsf. Some composeres just made their own homebrew trackers. And most of the time they couldn't even play it back so they were just composing blind until they played it in either a sound menu or the actual game. You think famitracker programming music is hard? Wait till you gotta know the codec for an NSF file to be able to even hear it lmao Wish I could find my source but it was a real interesting read
Ah just a bit of quantization noise on the VRC7 for that extra retro touch. And I personally kind of like the noise you get from the NES's jagged sawtooth.

I love how the DS-like samples mix with the traditional 8 bit samples in this song. It gives it such a unique vibe that I don't hear too often. I wish more DS Era samples were used in music.
The NES couldn't produce a lot of those sounds. The Famicom could thouhg, just without the pitch bending and stuff that couldn't be done until the SNES, and for whatever reason also wasn't possible on the GBA. Mother 1 + 2's soundtrack is so weird.
