I was honestly expecting the new Sorcerer due to Inate Sorcery being like Rage and could've represented Vaders anger giving him strength but I'm still impressed how this turned out!
A great tribute to a fallen legend, though im kinda suprised you didn't use the oath of conquest paladin. The abilites seem too perfect for vader, right down to hold person being a force choke and being the intimidating leader. Slap the telekenetic feat on there and maybe some aberant mind sorcerer or GOO-lock levels and you got a half-decent vader. Still Psi Warrior is a great force user class and I love the build.
For a Mufasa build either go leonin obviously or more interestingly centaur because there is a dnd creature called a wemic which is a lion centaur In both cases go oath of the crown paladin with the inspiring leader feat
This was a really nice idea to do. He was a true legend. My first introduction to JEJ was the Conan movie. He does villains really well. Might have to use the old 2014 rules for these ones, but would be cool to see either of these two anime characters: Fran from Reincarnated as a Sword; and Clare/No. 47 from Claymore.
Wait, you want to honor the amazing JEJ in D&D, and MISSED Thulsa Doom?!?! Conan’s nemesis is so worth a video, transformations, mind control magic, sword ability… what a challenge, awesome character RIP James Earl Jones😢
since bleach is coming back you should yhwach i feel like he be a great character to do love watching all the builds and learning from them thank you and keep up the amazing work cant wait for the next one
9 video asking for a Yuji build, but using the old handbook. Had to say that I like this version more than the old one definitely when all my group star using the new manual this would be my first build.
Oath of conquest & oathbreaker would also make sense for him. Oathbreaker = symbolizing his betrayal towards the Jedi. Oath of Conquest = He actively aids the Empire in conquering the galaxy.
Great old one warlock for 2024 rules? Pact of the blade and eldritch blast and repelling blast act as Force push invocations give the jump spell at will telekinesis at later levels also great build tho
Anakin could use force lighting, Vader actually can't. Doing so would destroy the cybernetics keeping him alive. So he knew how to do it, and taught the second most proficient user of it in cannon history (leave it to disney to say no to decades of novels but give the greenlight to Starkiller). Best use of that feat would have been the Telekinetic feat. It gives you the Mage Hand cantrip, makes the mage hand invisible, and allows you to cast is without verbal or somatic components. It also allows you to use a bonus action to telekinetically shove any one target within 30ft. They make a save, and if they fail they end up closer or further from you, your choice. No limit on how many times you can do this, and you can boost intelligence or wisdom. Take wisdom, you should be a monk for the first 6 levels of your career. Take the Kensei subclass for longsword/lightsaber proficiency, grab gift of the gem dragon at 4th level to use a reaction to telekinetically blast the person who hit you. useable up to your proficiency times per long rest. After level six, got nuts. Psionic Warrior from fighter works for more force abilities, or go nuts and jump into Abberant Mind Sorc.
As Anakin, he was wicked fast. But as Darth, he was rather slow. As such, the multiple attacks of a full fighter feel odd. A single extra attack, maybe. If you're determined to use Fighter as the foundation, I think a MC makes sense to bring in more Force capabilities. Completely dumping the flavor text, but a Dance Bard would be an interesting mix for the reactions and buff spells. If you go 7 in Fighter, and then 11 in Bard, you can get 2 Epic Boons. Darth Vader really feels like 2 Epic Boons kinda guy.
If you got the Druid option with Magic Initiate, you could Pick "Shillelagh" and use a Staff with your intelligence while dealing FORCE damage. Is not like a regular lightsaber, but is very close to Darth Maul.
An emphasis on INT doesn't quite seem right for Anakin/Vader. He's not a dummy, but he's not exactly a genius. You're right though...Vader is such an archetypally straight forward character that there's a lot of ways to build him. Your Psi Warrior build is great. Eldritch Knight was the first thing I thought of. But, I think I would have gone with Oathbreaker Paladin. First, it fits narratively. Second, it really leans into the idea that everyone is terrified of Vader (see the hallway scene in Rogue One) -- Dreadful Aspect, Aura of Hate, Supernatural Resistance (for the suit), and Dread Lord are all dead on. I think for the Force Choke, you could role play it as Inflict Wounds (when he's killing) or Bestow Curse (when he's just holding a guy). I also like the idea of the scene in Empire when he says "I am altering the deal, pray I don't alter it further" being him casting Dominate Person on Lando.
Unpopular opinion here Vader is an oath of vengeance paladin at least in terms of oath sworn (probably not in powers) at the end of revenge of the sith he's been led to believe that the jedi have betrayed him and the republic and after while in the suite he swears vengeance on palpatine and the jedi for taking everything from him
I'm not too familiar with the new rules and my playgroup will probably use the 5e rules. I would have taken 3 levels in paladin Oathbreaker since Anakin betrayed and left the Jedi order when he turned to the dark side.
I actually thought you might go with the Oath of Glory for this one. As a youngster, he was always trying to prove his worth. It seems a bit fitting that he would end up as a massively powerful bbeg. Plus the charisma thing, it just fits.
Yeah if you are going the full story for him definitely starting human and ending up as warforged it'd work well, although if the dm isn't allowing anything before 2024 human is fine
I'm not the best at making characters or anything like that, but I do feal like dumping Charisma for Darth Vader, one of the most intimidating characters throughout cinema, is a big mistake
@@feralart there's mostly a lot of quality of life improvements for a few things to make them feel more useful. Having more uses of second wind and being able to use it for different things is really nice, the heroic inspiration system is kind of cool, and I do like the weapon mastery feature. But at the same time I'm also in a game right now and we have not converted, but I'm also hosting a game where we have converted, it's all personal preference
@@dndbuilds maybe eventually, but I also have accumulated 10 books and all the spell card sets... (Granted, mostly on deals through Amazon) so I'd like to get my mileage out of them.
@@feralart totally understand believe me as somebody else who has over 100 to 200 characters built in the old system, I very much get it, although I am happy that it is supposed to be backwards compatible
Holy shit that's such a small issue. I get that you're a nerd who cares about small details like that, but calling that "no research" is wild. Some hardcore fans won't even know that detail, so stop being rude.
I built Darth Vader once as an Oathbreaker paladin multiclassed into Aberrant Mind sorcerer. Pretty heavy on fear effects.
Oath of Conquest, too, fits him very well
Sounds great
I was honestly expecting the new Sorcerer due to Inate Sorcery being like Rage and could've represented Vaders anger giving him strength but I'm still impressed how this turned out!
How are there so few dnd 2024 build videos? Thank you for scratching that itch 👍

Most impressive, as was the late, great James Earl Jones.
May he Rest In Peace 🙏

Guess it was a keyboard typo
The Force will be with him.... always.
This is a perfect build, I could have never done this as good as you, Dnd Builds. Thanks for the awesome video!!! 👍👍💀
Great build, only thing I'd change is the species into Warforged. He is more machine than man after all.
I feel like that's IG-88 or HK-47
I initially thought bladsinger, but 2024 psi fighter really is fitting bc Vadar is far more brute strength "force" uses. Nice!
Hell yeah been waiting on this one

Thanks for making this video. And thanks for the memories James Earl Jones
Very cool Darth Vader build. Makes sense if not a Bladesinger.
Exactly what I would think on how to build Vader ❤ love this
I have a similar build in my current adventure. I chose catapult to launch objects. It’s fun.

I was expecting Conquest Paladin, but I'll take it!
R.I.P. James Earl Jones thank you for the awesome memories
I was thinking of possibly going Vengeance Paladin. He would just have a twisted sense of Justice to allow him to keep his oath.
Oath of conquest & oathbreaker would also make sense for him.
Oathbreaker = symbolizing his betrayal towards the Jedi.
Oath of Conquest = He actively aids the Empire in conquering the galaxy.
The fact u didnt take the new divine favor with magic inniate for a true lightsaber has me feeling some type of way, or telekentic
Wand of Force in Blade mode. (Sword of Sharpness eq.)
Pls a 5e version I was thinking on running a star wars themed game for dnd❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤love the content ❤❤

Vader is a power duelist so I think it could be viable to go great sword and use Great weapon master.
I still think oath of conquest paladin fits best. With Vader being the primary conqueror
Dude, you still need to do Bugs Bunny, maybe do a double episode with a kenku Daffy Duck
It's called Psi Warrior. For most of the abilities.
Gyro Zeppeli build please! From JoJo's part 7 steel ball run!
could you do a build for Nina Zenik from shadow and bone
Now i wanna see a leonin paladin.....
So how about frank horrigan
I know you've mentioned him a bunch, I tried looking him up a bit, but I'm not sure if there's enough visual content to fill a video on him
@@dndbuilds ok
Since we have Lord Vader, we need The Emperor.
I would argue that if anakin had some insight, he would see he was being manipulated.
f*ck... now i NEED Mufasa...
Kinda think Vader should be Warforged
