Maybe we can see something like the mad hatter we're ivey creates her own plants that are living beyond what we've seen she plans on having her plants feed of the water on Gotham to Become Bigger and she has some device on her risk or inside of her or a mask to control them
Poison Ivy has a really interesting backstory that I think would perfectly fit into the Reeve's Universe with her dad being abusive and then buying flowers for her mom has a form of manipulation before eventually killing her and planting her under the garden You can do that backstory and then in present day she's a beautiful research assistant with a love of nature but isn't taken serious as people at Wayne Enterprises just takes her as a pretty face. This all comes to a head when she is assaulted by someone at Wayne Enterprises and uses her knowledge of flowers to make a poison to kill him before then going to her father with that same poison and killing him too. Her motives in the movie are to finally be taken serious and help the environment but she loses herself in her cause. It would be a good way of having Wayne Enterprises tied into the plot and even if she's a side character, her story would compliment villains like Scarecrow and Mister Freeze
I feel like Poison Ivy would be really cool if taken seriously and done right. Matt Reeves is just the right person to give the care needed to make her an actual character. And I think a way that Ivy can be a killer but still be different from Riddler, is to have her killings be more than one person and not specific people, it’s more of just whoever happened to be where she was. Imagine Batman and Gordon just walking into a whole room of plant covered bodies. That would be terrifying and different from the original. That would also make the mystery harder for Batman to solve as they aren’t targets. Just a thought, I don’t know.
I think playing with a natural selection type angle could actually be really interesting. Maybe another idea as well could be she sees overpopulation as an issue as well, so she uses her expertise in plants and their biology to be an eco-terrorist
I think if we do get Poison Ivy in the Batman saga, I would be totally down for it. I think Matt could really give her so much amazing Stuff to her character. Mr. Freeze, Scarcrow, and Poison Ivy are my top list villains for Part 2.
I imagine her being a killer. Who specializes in poisoning her victims. She wouldn't be a meta human controlling giant plant monsters. She could still be an echo terrorist. Or maybe a hitwoman working for the mob. The DCU can give us a fantastical Ivy or Freeze if you don't like the more realistic portrayals.
i’d rather them not try and portray such a fantastical villain in a down to earth kind of way. This sucks. They can stick to rogues like Hush, Riddler, Joker and even Mad Hatter. Those villains don’t have to be rooted in fantastical elements and could very well exist in that world. This Ivy sounds boring 😂
It's vital to the character to have a connection to the green. Her psychology is almost alien because she doesn't consider herself human and this works with her original anti-social personality before her accident. I still think her powers can start off more subtle and weak compared to what should be her eventual evolution to someone who is more connected to the green. For example, she begins with pheromone control and poison immunity with ways to utilize poison in very creative ways. By the end, she can manipulate plant growth and create different mutations of plants to whole species of monstrous plant creatures.
I know it's not the video but I think a good way to adapt clayface is by making him an actor turned killer with a clay mask, then the mask melts into his face after he encounters the mob.
I have wanted Poison Ivy as the big bad in a Batman movie for SO long, she's the villain I most want to see in a Batman movie. I want to see Emma Mackey play her and have her be able to psychically control plants and vines... hopefully I get that movie someday
Ivy is my favorite member of the rogues gallery, and her metahuman abilities are the least interesting and most disposable aspect of the character for me. She’s a damaged person; a woman who struggles with her relationship to people and resents her need for them. She despises the men who objectify her as she wields her physical charms as a weapon against them. She calls to mind a particularly good Carrie Fisher quote, “Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die,” and that’s the thesis for the one fantastic element of the character that I think fits and is worth exploring in the Reevesverse; a Pamela Isley who “microdoses” herself with toxins until her body is an untouchable weapon to be wielded against those who see the world as a sequence of disposable resources to be mined for pleasure. I see in her a woman who, like the Riddler, could be inspired by what she perceives of Batman the dark avenger - and now hope of Gotham - while simultaneously loathing Bruce Wayne for what she perceives of him and his ties to the corporate giant that is Wayne Enterprises. As with all of the great rogues, the only limits on her are in our own imaginations, but I truly think a grounded Ivy could be the definitive Ivy.
just loved your take on it, it also ties in with some of the recent solo comics of her’s to be an eco-terrorist, where she is infected by a deadly fungus and runs through the country spreading the fungus all around before she gets caught
I honestly wish Reeves would ease up on the grounding of it. We got enough of that Batman in the Noland movies. My favorite thing about Batman is that he’s a non powered human who can take on powered humans and aliens. I want to see more of that Batman. And we aren’t getting it in the DCU for like a decade
Thanks! Plenty of rogues gallery villains to go explore through the lens of Reeves' universe, so plenty of videos to come! (when I get my ass round to it haha)
#NatureAlwaysWins I think Poison Ivy could be adapted, but I think of all the vilains so far that we've discussed, she would be the hardest to adapt. I'm hoping to see a Golden Age Clayface. Maybe Ivy could be a side character like Penguin in the first film.
I read a fanfic ages back called Batman:Green Dawn that was a Nolan verse adaptation of Ivy and could totally work for Reeves universe. It involved Pam working in pharmaceutical company, and leaned more into the toxic touch and pheromone control aspect rather than her wielding plants as weapons, by using things like stem cell implants in her finger tips that both create the toxin for others whilst creating the antidote for her. It used a lot of real science mixed with pseudoscience and was a very very good read. Ivy still wanted to stop mankind from harming nature and she was still a plant obsessive and had a huge garden she kept alive on the bodies of her victims like fertiliser. I would LOVE to see ivy in a film again, and personally would like someone like Elarica Johnson, Riley Keough or Emmy Rossum play her.
She’s the only person I really want in a live action adaptation within this amazing new universe. Lili Marie Simmons from Banshee and Power Force is my top pick for the role.
Hey Boba, based on your earlier videos on Clayface he could certainly work as a realistic shapeshifter with visceral body-horror elements, I have very high doubts Reeves is going for a clay-monster but the character could still work perfectly, although from a thematic standpoint it's highly likely in my opinion he'll just be a side character in the same vein as say Scarecrow in Batman Begins or Mr Zasz in Birds of Prey. Think a hired killer who uses very practical masks and prosthetics and an ability to speak in different accents an behave in different ways to blend in to crowds and commit public assassinations or steal information etc. Elements of fantasy you can incorporate could be, maybe he has a bone deformity which allows him to modify the structure of his face with plates like Silva uses to fix his jaw in Skyfall? All in all to paint a picture of how this could look imagine a lair or hideout for someone like this filled with skin-suits and fake teeth and contraptions to modify his appearance, perhaps unfinished disguises or a way of replicating important people's faces like famous politicians or even Bruce himself (a nod to the Clayface of TAS).
I actually love the idea you've done with Ivy! The way you've explained it, I can actually see it playing out in my head! Defiently gonna check out your Mr. Freeze video! But I gotta say I think an interesting idea is how you would take your version of Ivy and really find a connection between her and the Batman. Because the way I'd do it is what if Ivy is one of those villains who has that lasting impact on him like the Riddler. Riddler teaches Batman that Vengence isn't enough to have that lasting impact that he wants across Gotham. When I think Ivy brings up the lesson of just how his arrogance from his duties as Bruce Wayne has had a negative impact on Gotham. Riddler brings out a better Batman, Poison Ivy brings out a better Bruce Wayne.
Great video Boba, I was looking forward to this one since you announced it and it didn’t disappoint! I think Batman Unburried honestly sets an excellent foundation for what Reeves could do (minus the talking to plants bit of course) I think her personal childhood trauma linking to her overall misanthropy is essential to her character as it makes her alienate herself from humanity-instead she sees herself relating more to plants than people as she's also a victim to humanity's arrogance like they are or something so she becomes their vengeance? Also making her a Wayne Enterprises employee could be really interesting especially within a detective aspect like the murderer is already in your house type twist that Bruce has to put two and two together. Maybe she could be trying to sabotage the company, poisoning the city with a product only they create and blackening Bruce's reputation even more whilst working with another villain who has a person vendetta against him #naturealwayswins
i think an interesting way to have Ivy introduced would be through Jason Woodrue. In many iterations of Poison Ivy he's usually responsible for her transformation. In this Reeves universe Woodrue could still be a driving factor in Ivy's descent into full on villany by either starting as his accomplice (who later double crosses him) or he's her first victim that kick starts everything.
Ivy is the one character I’d like to see without most of her fantastical elements. Not being able to control plants would make the audience unsure if her habit of talking to it is an ability or just a delusion, which I prefer. Just make her like in the first BTAS: Insane and fantastically knowledgeable about botanicals.
I really want to see a grounded version of Killer Croc. A character like him would be great to portray from a sympathetic point of view. Considering his backstory of being abandoned as a child by his family due to his appearance/condition and used as a freak show attraction as an adult. Also it could be possible to use him as an introduction to Dick Grayson at Haley’s Circus.
*Interesting Batman rogues gallery idea /theory video on Dr.Pamela Isley aka Poison Ivy,**#BobaTalk**! *Perhaps Matt Reeves could easily make a grounded version of the villainess , for future Batman film sequels,Poison Ivy, having her origin story be somewhat inspired by the short story Rapperchini 's Daughter as well as have be a vengeful ex-employee/brillant biochemist of Waynecorp turned eco-terrorist!* :D *Please keep up the extraordinary awesome work!* :D
Shiva is another villain I'd love to see get a proper adaption, they should cast Kelly Hu for that role. She happens to voice the character in Arkham Origins.
Batman stories are often at their best when they are more grounded, reason being is that batman is just a normal human being with the benefit of intense training and high tech equipment reinforced by an Iron will. What makes that so great is that he is put in extreme situations in which he is in mortal danger and must outfight and outthink his way out of them and dose not have huge advantages like superman who can just who shrug of majority threats to himself. He has to adapted as things are happening, It makes things much more interesting and suspenseful, thus showing how awesome he really is.
My grounded version: Ivy is a Botinest by day and a club owner by night located in the middle of Gotham’s Botanical Gardens called Ivy Club, which serves organic alcoholic drinks. However, it is only open like a speakeasy when Ivy needs test subjects for her environmental scheme, which she serves in her drinks.
*The only way I see Ivy appearing in the Reeves universe* is if maybe Bruce busts a drug manufacturing warehouse and the botanist growing the drugs is a woman with red hair and that’s our Ivy 🤷🏾♂️
Hey Boba - good series. I agree with your notion that a less fantastical take on Ivy could work, and work well. I enjoy movies that blend science, future science, even pseudo-science into a plot - see Swamp Thing, which I thought was excellent. Ivy doesn't need to have a poison touch - she needs to have an earth level connection to plants and poison - however the director wants to focus on that. My comment: Reeves has the production values, he has the cinematography, the CGI, the music - for me it all pins to the writing. I am an amateur writer - not necessarily a good one. But I think I recognize convincing writing when I hear it. It can be cheesy (a la Snake Plissken) - the team just has to make it work. Pattinson and a good cast can do that.
love the theories, I could see Ivy and Scarecrow as a great pairing if they’re adapted as extremists with aligned agendas. for example, maybe she’s carrying out acts of eco-terrorism while he’s lacing drops with fear toxin in an effort to save Gotham from consuming itself. #naturealwayswins
I know this is a villain series, but can you please do a bonus at the end of this series and do one on Robin or batgirl. I know you have your reservations about about them being in this world but your really creative with putting the rogues in this world.
#naturealwayswins As a Batman fan I've realized a constant pattern that's been occurring with a specific villain and I'm speaking of none other than Scarecrow. Over the years through the Batman media Scarecrow has been mostly used as a jobber to help execute the plan of the main villain. We see this in the Dark Knight trilogy, in the Arkham games and animated material where Scarecrow is threatening but is never THE main focus of the story he's involved. I believe Matt Reeves has an opportunity to make Scarecrow more than just a guy in a mask that can conjure up your darkest fears, I want to see him portrayed in such a way that it surpasses his depiction in the fear state comic run, this hypothetical Matt Reeves Scarecrow needs to pose a real challenge against Batman and give us an insight on the psychology on the two opposing forces and shows us why Scarecrow should live up to the title of Batman's Most Menacing Villain. I think that Boba is what you should focus on in your next video in this series. Great work btw👍🦇
I think what they should do is after they introduce characters like mr freeze , poison ivy, clay face etc they should bring in scarecrow. Maybe scarecrow works with them using what ever chemicals they have and makes a stronger version of the fear toxin. batman gets sprayed and when he's up against them the fear toxin make it look like they are more fantastical.( think that cut idea for batman triumph with batman hallucinating all his past rogues mixed with that scene in batman begins with scarecrow seeing a demon batman or the copper head fight in Arkham origins or taking a note from the marvel side that mysterio fight in spiderman far from home )
I agree with your adaptation ideas and I think it'd be great, I think another example of walking the line between Realism and Fantasy is like what The Last Of Us did with Cordyceps, it is based in Reality there are the Zombie Ants as they're called that Cordyceps infect so the idea of it suddenly jumping to Humans through Yeast (the show version don't recall the Games ever explaining it) isn't the craziest thing to imagine makes sense even though yeah it's not Realistic that wouldn't happen still isn't too far fetched, and you can do that with Ivy by doing as you say she's a Botany Genius whose maybe developed some not hyper realistic plants but ones that just slightly go outside of real but still believable and not super outlandish like controlling all Plants, but maybe having some that release a chemical, or grow quicker than really through some Sci Fi Hocus pocus. Either way the most important thing about Poison Ivy is her belief that #NatureAlwaysWins As for suggestions I'd like to see you cover Solomon Grundy my only off the top of my head idea would be he's more of a Voodoo Zombie? Not an actual full on Hulk Zombie but seemingly 'brought back to life'?
5:18 I think the level of fantastical depends on the story being told, the underlying theme & lesson. With Batman (2022), The story Reeves wanted to tell didn’t call for any fantastical elements but Ivy’s story calls all for fantastical elements. What matters is how it’s handled and how the elements connect to the theme and help move the story forward.
I have an idea maybe she’s a friend of Selina Kyle and got the idea to work at the iceberg lounge and uses her looks And is a little younger maybe one of the rich elites she tricks into being her victim is mad hatter
I could see Deadshot coming into play as something different. Still most definitely want The Court of Owls and Penguin for the sequel for a full-on birds outing, but for something left of center, I can see Deadshot coming into play and being hired by Penguin or The Court to take out certain government officials for Penguin or The Court to assume higher levels of power. Like your take on Ivy working in Reeves Batman II. Ivy does have potential that can be taken more seriously than Clooney's Batman and Robin. But it still doesn't feel strong enough for a main plot to be interesting enough. Karen Gillian could certainly rock the role of Ivy whether with Reeves or Gunn and make Ivy work. She 100% has the look and height.
Now that we’ve had 2 big villain’s let’s mix it up, lets go small. Lets do a villain who gets a start working under cobblepott as a hitman. My first choice is Deadshot, a disenfranchised veteran very similar to travis bickle who doesn’t have fancy guns, just a pocket revolver and a hunting rifle, but who will become the worlds deadliest assassin. #naturealwayswins
I could k Word to have finally the greatest female vilain on screen. Brings up that dangerous and charming Ivy who eliminate the citizen of Gotham and most of the gcpd and many more. That would be SOOO interesting to bring a relationship w catwoman as well and a brutal fight involving the two of them w Batman. And ofc adapting the plant manipulation well done for once. I want to see her destroy Gotham in an assault of rage after losing maybe the only human she cared Bout or after losing one of her garden or just because she wants it. We saw such an amazing Ivy in Batman Gotham knight and in some of the dc animation. That green skin transformation could b so much work on if Reeves doesn’t want to include too much of that fantastic side but c’mon. If they were able to make Gotham under chaos w flood then it’s easy to make plants trees breaking the ground and destroying most of the things around her. You know using her in a very serious way. Shoutout to the actress who played her in Gotham she had a good role as being a literal threat. But add some spice makes her control her weapons well not just throwing lianes. Fighting with it getting toe to toe w catwoman hitting both Batman and catwoman on the ground almost breaking bones w huge plants because sorry not sorry that can HURT. She also has the thing with two face that can still b studied. Like you mention so well she can be one of the most promising villain with her backstory. She always kinda portrayed as a non-great fighter but c’mon if she was born and raised in Gotham that would be fair for her to be able to use white weapons and some basic fighting skills. Don’t wanna go to deep but as the beautiful woman she is that sound normal that she would have suffered from harassment. And again they can finally work on her bisexuality like they did in the Harley serie so catwoman that’s where catwoman enters. Let’s just hope they won’t get afraid to go to far w her because she NEEDS to get justice. I do get the point of the “k-ller” plot. That’s why I think the hypno could b really interesting without putting her in the corner during the movie. We could b aware of her since in Batman 1 we were following the investigation. In that one we can b really aware of this dead gorgeous woman flirting w the whole cast. Tension, Batman’s detective arch, trauma, lack of humanity, sexuality, environment, woman daily problem, horrific scene, chaos, terrifying environment. She can brings everything so yeah I’m DOWN for her please. A good Famke Jamssen would be a great actress for that role. Already nailed the red as Jean and the dangerous/manipulative woman in Hansel & Gretel.
I hear some time ago that for Batman 2, that HUSH could be in it. But you never know until someone comes out and say who all will be in Batman 2. But I can be wrong.
Totally agree mate. We need Poison Ivy to be one of the next if not the next Batman villain. Climate change is worse than ever and she’s the perfect villain in the Batverse to get that across. Would much rather see Reeves adapt her into an anarchistic Eco Warrior than Gunn adapt her into an over the top comedic Audrey2 type haha. “Mother Nature always wins”
The MADD HATER, jervis tetch 😵 would be a sick villian to see, I can picture a movie or a show being all tripy with hallucinations and mad trips down the rabbit hole lol 🐰
Making her a serial killer is off after the consildation we had during BTAS, i would personally give her more of a Pretty Poison, minus man eating plant, treatment where she doesnt have any particular powers and is just an ecoterrorist who uses plant themes as part of her crimes. Also, I would add have the part of her thinking she is tied into plants, thinking she can control plants. On the point of adding minor supernatural give her enhanced immunity would also be good. Would also have Lake Bell playing Ivy
Having poison ivy being a naturalist/botanist/environmentalist who through her brilliance rescuers to starts assassinating people who she views are destroying the earth, and using her knowledge of plants and her powers to poison people would’ve fantastic. Always thought she could be re-adapted into the Nolan Movies as a brilliant scientist/assassin.
I think your ideas are awesome. Something I struggle with is finding how this villain would be made to compliment Bruce’s journey! Riddler had a very personal affect on Bruce and we would just have to see what her motivations and position are in the story. Something that would speak to the state of Gotham as well
I think it’d be interesting to see Bruce Wayne become part of a ‘clean up the city’ situation after the flooding of Gotham to help with his public image and this is where he meets shy reserved Pamela Isley. They bond over being shy and caring for the cause but for different reasons, Bruce because he loves the city and Pamela because she loves the Earth. Maybe Bruce’s Batmanning diverts his attention and leave Pamela feeling like no one cares like she does, no one really wants to help so she uses her craft to create specific poisons and toxins to start taking out those who ‘don’t care’. This would tie Bruce and Pamela together, not in a romantic way, but in a way that has two publicly shy people bond over a common good in the end helping Bruce become ‘the Bruce Wayne’ in the public eye but also damaging Pamela’s mind as she works on these toxins effectively destroying her sanity
With Catwoman not necessarily showing up in part 2, Poison Ivy could definitely become a great femme fatale in her place, complimenting the detective Noir theme. She would bring along batman for her environmental course, completely getting under his skin until he figures out her true extremist colors. Although you might run the risk of either empathizing too much with eco-terrorism, or almost demonizing environmentalists, but I guess I'm overthinking it:D and I love your points about her traumatic childhood, the detective aspect, and greta thunberg. Jokes aside, the Rappaccini's Daughter idea is absolute genius and would really get into the psychology of her character on the big screen. Btw, what a gorgeous new intro, thumb-nail, and editing, on this second episode of my favorite series! Would always love your thoughts on rogues like Killer Moth or the Ventriloquist! #naturealwayswins
Before Adapting any of the Rogues in a Movie OR series, Matt Reevs and his team would need to consider Premise (High Concept) and Genre of that Character...the MAX series, Penguin is Excellent. You have a Thug that will Become the Crime Lord of Gotham and is a Gangster Genre.
I'd be totally fine with leaning more towards the poison than the ivy. You didn't NEED fast growing plants if she's using poison. Imagine, batman looking over the crime scene realizing that this one pretty flower is what ended up slowly poisoning the victim subtly with out them knowing it. Where did those flowers come from, who else has been sent flowers? It even comes with a ticking clock.
I have a suggestion for a potential storyline involving Poison Ivy in a Batman movie. In this version, Poison Ivy would start as a side character, but with the potential to evolve into a more signifiant role in future films. Her transformation into Poison Ivy would occur during the events of a previous Batman movie, where she is caught in an explosion during a flood. To provide a more grounded perspective on her character, her abilities would be slightly altered. Instead of controllig plants, her body becomes toxic and lethal to the touch. This change would result in a virus spreading throughout Gotham City, causing various side effects. One of these side effects could be the release of spores that make people fall in love or act as a truth serum. However, Poison Ivy herself would not have full control over these effects until the end of the movie. This would add an element of suspense and intrigue to her character arc. The movie could also explore other abilities she possesses, apart from controlling plants, to maintain a more realistic tone. If Mr. Freeze is not chosen as the primary antagonist for the sequel, another compelling option could be to delve into the character of Hugo Strange. Additionally, the movie could reveal that Scarecrow is the true identity of Arkham Asylum's chief mental health consultant, working under the guidance of Hugo Strange. Strange aims to perfect his fear-inducing methods and is aware of Poison Ivy's unstable pathogen abilities, which he plans to incorporate into his fear gas. The nartive could further unveil that Scarecrow's origin is intertwined with Hugo Strage's experiments, as Strange was present when Bruce Wayne's mother was pregnant and admitted to Arkham Asylum. This revelation would plant the seeds for a complex connection between these characters, adding depth to the storyline. This version provides a more coherent and engaging narrative for Poison Ivy's character, while also introducing compelling dynamics involving Hugo Strange and Scarecrow.
I would be willing to give her an epic moment at the end, where she generates spores that accelerate growth, similar to Gibberellic acid on steroids. Perhaps the showdown takes place in Arkham Asylum after she is captured by Scarecrow and Hugo Strange's henchmen. Within the asylum and its courtyards, the plant life starts to overgrow due to her presence. Her abilities could be based on telepathy and emotional manipulaion through pheromones. This scenario would allow Batman to explore more revelations about his family history and the difficult choices he must make concerning Poison Ivy. Dealing with the combined threat of Hugo Strange and Scarecrow would be unlike anything he has faced before. In Batman's eyes, Poison Ivy would be the most significant threat, as she would be the first metahuman he has ever encountered.
I swear to god I just thought you should cover this idea since I had the same but also include scarecrow, having his fear toxin come from Ivys plants to which she’d turn later in the movie as the bigger bad since she’d be immune
As regards the r pattinson movies I’ve always hope they would unveil the famous villains, riddler, mr freeze, poison ivy, bane, court of owls, over the next few movies then in the last movie all being controlled by the joker
Perfect example of how she should be right at 2:17 because: She created that with science. She is not able to control it. She loves it and believes it can understand her.
i'd love it if she was the villain for part 2. I'd want her to be a full-on villain though, I think we've had enough stories of poison ivy being an anti-hero type. I don't know how they would do it but it would be interesting to see this universe's interpretation.
They could have her with ivy Tattoos and roses. She's a geek in the day but has this seductive side when not working. She could use poisons to give hallucinations that make it appear as if the plants are alive to her victims who are trying to damage gotham city which drives them insane before she kills them. She's trying to save the planet
This does not just apply in Reeves Batverse but also in the Nolanverse too, a more true eco terrorists who's also a bio manic, true to comic Ivy but no metahuman powers and abilities, but more of using her plants as weapons, a bio terrorist who's also a biologist, but her activism blinded her and lost who's she is and what her true goals were as she goes way beyond then her true cause, but yeah
Imho for Ivy, much like Freeze, the interesting parts aren't her powers, but the emotional and motivational, overall human or character aspect. From a storytelling POV, her metahuman MO primarily serves to symbolize these aspects, for the core of the character it isn't necessary-
4:06 hey i want to say another thing, people are saying matt reeves batman universe can't have full like fantasticals, but thats wrong, becuse if you comicaly calculate rob's batman bruce powers and abilities at the time, you will see that he is the strongest version in live action, in year 2, he just walk throw spray of bullets, etc. he will eventually surpass ben affleck's batman. yes, he have mastered every thing in the world, and he uses and revise according to needs and usability. like he got hit by bullet in heat, next time cowl will be stronger, he just walks and hit by shotgun, next time he won't do that, they grabbed his cape, next time there will be electricity in it. he crashed will gliding next time that wont happen, he will thourgly make it better, maybe the one like in concept art in 3rd or 4th movie. #naturealwayswins
an angle that could be interesting to take is that Ivy sees herself as a protector of women, not just the earth. maybe she was sexually assaulted, maybe her wife/girlfriend (because most people know Ivy is a lesbian these days and it's an easy way to add "diversity points" in a way that doesn't detract from character and story) is killed and , and she's linked her personal tragedy to her crusade to save the earth. maybe her primary targets are rich, powerful men who can so easily make a woman's life hell, and society turns a blind eye because he's well connected. maybe she uses her knowledge of botany to craft designer poisons and maybe even douses the corpses in some sort of solution to faciliate the decomp and growth of plant life - so maybe we don't get Ivy telepathically controlling improbably sized vines, but the fact that there are plants growing out of these bodies far quicker than could naturally happen, maybe it throws off what time the victims died at - like the rate of growth would indicate they had been dead for x amount of time, only when Bruce and Gordon look into where the Victim was then, he was alive and well- this "unnatural" plant growrth
Maybe like that one time in Batman anime she uses pharmones to get what she wants done. But unlike how Catwoman had to save her Batman had to fight his emotions to not give her whatever she wants. I remember that anime when she was hired by a gang boss to get money from Bruce Wayne. She could easily use a method like that to gain access to his funds to force him to pay for projects she wants.
maybe she can be born with a rare condition due to her mother messing with some heavy shrooms while pregnant. It made her immune system stronger against poisons and her touch something humans are allergic to like poison ivy but more sudden this also gives her body a pleasant odor. She more pheromones than any regular woman, so it makes her extra feminine whatever that means. She struggles with her mental health and thinks she can talk to plants because since people are allergic to her, doctors kept her quarantined for most of her life. She attended an online school where she became a scientist and came up with pills that tame her poison until she has to take more and also plans to mesh DNA of plants with live animals so she can control them at will. I imagibe cops find zombie like people she is testing on where parasitic plats are taking over their brains and making them do the unthinkable
3:25 first of all boba, what i want is that as he is doing characters in infancy not origin but rock at core. i wish to see of how these characters look in early stage gateup. either fantastical, semi-fantastical, semi-grounded, grounded, which evere suit them best. But however Matt reeves adapt them most likly grounded, there should be atleast hints to what they will become later in the timeline. just like with riddler getting 'riddle me this, from muderer to laughing' and joker who is not yet joker maybe after putting in arkham batman, getting sometime to think he decides to play with him. the thing is batman still making himself and making his rogues gallery and it should looks like it. with adapting multiple less used villains, side characters and love interests as depth as most used ones. i will finish here . #naturealwayswins
tbh i kinda wanna see villains like black mask he could fit perfectly in this universe. but i want to see wht would matt reeves do with a character like mad hatter.
I actually loved the story of Rappaccini's Daughter and can see Reeve's really folding that in and mixing it with Poison Ivy. As to, coming up with a story of our own or something similar. I would, like the comics have done, keep her as a phlebotomist (don't know whether that's how you correctly spell that) and also make a businesswoman who has been hired to be in charge of all the plant life/nature in Gotham, doing a project to help save it which makes her really happy as she is finally being recognised, doing something she loves dearly . But unfortunately the Riddler ruins it which makes Pamela very pissed and decides to take revenge. feeling nature dying and calling her to avenge them, Pam thinks/feels it is her duty from God to punish the people Or you could do The Rappaccini Daughter story as it is, making her a tragic character. Her wanting to save the plants but can't because of her curse, wanting to save her friends, the plants, feeling that nature is dying caused by the humanity, being the spoke person for nature and her feeling to avenge them, Pam thinks/feels it is her duty from God to punish the people.
How about if The Batman II was like GODFATHER II? Godfather II parallels the story of Michael with that ofthe story of his father's establishment in America. The Batman II could feature long flashback sequences to Batman's first year and his capture of the Joker, juxtaposed to his current handling of Penguin or a new antagonist.
You should do Scarecrow next. I think scarecrow makes the most sense in this aesthetic. Throw Pyg in there and you have a horrific nightmare of a film. #naturealwayswins
Nice thought, but I just can't see it! Maybe that's because it's just too far fetched or whether I just don't think it can work in Matt Reeves world?? Mr freeze is just, and I mean just workable, but poison ivy is going that little bit too far!! Clayface can work in the original origins of his backstory, but I think I'd find that a bit to boring. The only villain's that I can see working are hush, calendar man, the scarecrow and the court of owls. The joker will probably be in it but I can't see that until the 3rd installment. Great video pal, keep em coming ❤
I would to see my girl poison ivy done right. And I can see Karen Gillian playing as the seductive plant queen femme fatal, plus they could adapt her animated series self (From the first and second season, not from season 3) with just a hint of her arkhamverse or tomorrowverse (From batman: the long halloween part 2) powers. For example you can still have a where Ivy does get her abilities from like her Silver age self and she ends up creating powerful mutated plants, (ex: think of the plants from Little Shop of Horrors or even from the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers.). And you can even incorporate some elements from her most popular times in the comic books and animated series episodes (another ex: like from the comic book called hot house or from the animated series called Pretty Poison and House & Garden).
Here’s my pitch: She begins in the drops industry and she is large player in creating these drugs through her knowledge in various sciences, primarily botany. After the GCPD shuts down the drops operation again when they found it right before the car chase in The Batman, she begins to use her expertise with botany and plants to make a new drug, that quickly becomes popular throughout Gotham. With her newfound fame in the underworld she picks up the alias “Poison Ivy” after a component in one of her most commonly used drugs(?). Then after this many of her most prominent characteristics from the comics could be shown like the seductive nature. If we still wanted to do the killer who poisons her victims, then she could target rivaling drug operations or something like that. I’d to see anyone expand on something at tweak another so let me know what you think.
I like to imagine she's in Arkham because she's delusional about having some psychic connection to all plant life, not actually having any plant-based superpowers.
I don’t think Reeves is going to walk the line of fantastical. I think it’s going to be about as grounded as that first movie. No sci-fi powers or anything like that.
Poison Ivy, captured and taken to Arkham Asylum. Dr. Hugo Strange, a twisted psychologist, becomes fascinated by Ivy's unique plant-based powers. Strange plans to harness Ivy's pathogens and combine them with his fear toxin research. Jonathan Crane, the new warden at Arkham, secretly working as Scarecrow, sees Ivy as an asset for his fear experiments. Ivy's powers are subjected to Strange's experiments, synthesizing her pathogens with the fear toxin. Batman uncovers the truth behind the fear toxin and its connection to Ivy's powers. Batman confronts Scarecrow, who reveals his alliance with Hugo Strange. In the third movie, Batman battles Scarecrow and his fear-inducing army while trying to save Ivy. Ivy joins forces with Batman to bring down Strange and dismantle the fear toxin operation. Ivy's powers are exploited, and Batman helps her regain control. The true extent of Strange's involvement and his ultimate plan are unveiled. Future installments will feature an epic showdown between Batman and Hugo Strange.
The unwillingness to go into the insanity and macabre nature of the Batman character is why I don’t prefer the Nolan take on the character so I would hope that’s not going to be a theme in the Reeves films. Batman is a study in the extreme points insanity can take a hero who has both the skill, money and ability to do whatever he sets his mind to and when a director says they are going to force that character to remain with in the confines of reality, in my opinion, it kills the magic that makes Batman who he is. Any thing that can be dreamed, can be made real and explained and this constant concern about making things “real”: just feels like a lack of creativity to me. You can explain DNA splicing a biologist studying plant hybrids easily without feeling like it’s too out there. You can explain a man mutated by using makeup laced with mutagenic chemicals, this idea that either of those concepts is too out there for this universe concerns me because it starts to sound like Nolan, “well a grown man running around with a minor trained to fight crime is too unbelievable so I won’t do it”, bs. Nothing should be off the table because with creative and intelligent writing, anything is possible, or should be. In the words of my favorite portrayal of the character, you wanna get nuts, let’s get nuts.

Can you do a video of how Matt Reeves can adapt Mad Hatter
Can u do a video on scarecrow or killer crock 🐊
Maybe we can see something like the mad hatter we're ivey creates her own plants that are living beyond what we've seen she plans on having her plants feed of the water on Gotham to Become Bigger and she has some device on her risk or inside of her or a mask to control them
I would love to see her more as an antihero having a scene inspired by no man's land where she protected homeless kids in her park comes to mind
@@comicfan8713 that would be cool
Poison Ivy has a really interesting backstory that I think would perfectly fit into the Reeve's Universe with her dad being abusive and then buying flowers for her mom has a form of manipulation before eventually killing her and planting her under the garden
You can do that backstory and then in present day she's a beautiful research assistant with a love of nature but isn't taken serious as people at Wayne Enterprises just takes her as a pretty face.
I’m only down for Scarecrow if he’s in a full blown scarecrow outfit - complete with hay in his costume
@@firstlast9846 Honestly his suit from the Arkham games looks better and with him having messed up his own face to resemble a Scarecrow.
@@bolg892 the Asylum costume was the best imo
@@firstlast9846 Ehhh it looked too goofy xD not bad tho, just very goofy ahhh imo
@@bolg892 Batman's whole universe is goofy tbf I'd rather they got back to that
I imagine her being a killer.
That’s boring either go all the way in or don’t
Horrible
i’d rather them not try and portray such a fantastical villain in a down to earth kind of way. This sucks. They can stick to rogues like Hush, Riddler, Joker and even Mad Hatter. Those villains don’t have to be rooted in fantastical elements and could very well exist in that world. This Ivy sounds boring 😂
I'd rather see something similar to the Arkham games, still classic Poison Ivy but maybe she ends up becoming an anti-hero.
Halfway through the video, but I have to say, that thumbnail art looks phenomenal, like something you’d see in their actual promotional materials! 💪👍
I know it's not the video but I think a good way to adapt clayface is by making him an actor turned killer with a clay mask, then the mask melts into his face after he encounters the mob.
And then that could cause a disfigurement on his face
@@tristanmcmanus7186 exactly
I have wanted Poison Ivy as the big bad in a Batman movie for SO long, she's the villain I most want to see in a Batman movie. I want to see Emma Mackey play her and have her be able to psychically control plants and vines... hopefully I get that movie someday
Oh damn! Emma Mackey is a great idea!
Thank you finally someone said it 👍
That was a cool Intro for ep2 of this Series. Hoping the delayed production for Batman 2 gives a chance to do more of these 😅
Thanks! Plenty of rogues gallery villains to go explore through the lens of Reeves' universe, so plenty of videos to come! (when I get my ass round to it haha)

I think Poison Ivy could be adapted, but I think of all the vilains so far that we've discussed, she would be the hardest to adapt. I'm hoping to see a Golden Age Clayface. Maybe Ivy could be a side character like Penguin in the first film.
Yes 100%! I just played the Arkham games too, I love their adaptions of the villains. #NatureAlwaysWins
We need anti-hero Ivy xd
I love that idea for his rouges gallery
Would be cool if they adapted some lesser known and underused villains as well, e.g Prometheus, Firefly, Azrael, Copperhead, etc.
She can still use plants to make poisons. She can still have her poison lipstick. That can fit.
The intro was definitely cold
love the theories, I could see Ivy and Scarecrow as a great pairing if they’re adapted as extremists with aligned agendas. for example, maybe she’s carrying out acts of eco-terrorism while he’s lacing drops with fear toxin in an effort to save Gotham from consuming itself. #naturealwayswins
I know this is a villain series, but can you please do a bonus at the end of this series and do one on Robin or batgirl. I know you have your reservations about about them being in this world but your really creative with putting the rogues in this world.
#naturealwayswins
As a Batman fan I've realized a constant pattern that's been occurring with a specific villain and I'm speaking of none other than Scarecrow.
Scarecrow is the main villain in Arkham Knight though and I'd say he posed quite a serious threat. Jason is secondary.
@@bolg892 Fair point
@@ashawnamv2117 But I agree, Scarecrow is a good villain and he should get a larger film role for sure!
Either way the most important thing about Poison Ivy is her belief that #NatureAlwaysWins
As for suggestions I'd like to see you cover Solomon Grundy my only off the top of my head idea would be he's more of a Voodoo Zombie? Not an actual full on Hulk Zombie but seemingly 'brought back to life'?
As for the likes of Man-Bat, Croc, Clayface, these can be molded to fit through the villainous deeds of one Scarecrow.
I have an idea maybe she’s a friend of Selina Kyle and got the idea to work at the iceberg lounge and uses her looks
And is a little younger maybe one of the rich elites she tricks into being her victim is mad hatter

Shoutout to the actress who played her in Gotham
she had a good role as being a literal threat.
But you never know until someone comes out and say
who all will be in Batman 2.
I think it’d be interesting to incorporate ivy being radicalized and using plants as a bio-weapon
I think your ideas are awesome. Something I struggle with is finding how this villain would be made to compliment Bruce’s journey! Riddler had a very personal affect on Bruce and we would just have to see what her motivations and position are in the story. Something that would speak to the state of Gotham as well
I’d love to see a Prof. Pigg or Firefly video, though Firefly might be a bit more henchmen-like maybe he can team up with another lesser known Rouge
I would like to see an adaptation of Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, firefly, Clayface, Rash Al Gul, Hush, and Solomon Grundy.
Did I miss something? When did you get a new intro? It’s pretty cool!!
It was in Episode 1 too.
I swear to god I just thought you should cover this idea since I had the same but also include scarecrow, having his fear toxin come from Ivys plants to which she’d turn later in the movie as the bigger bad since she’d be immune
#NatureAlwaysWins
Nice to think about the possibilities for these characters.
As regards the r pattinson movies I’ve always hope they would unveil the famous villains, riddler, mr freeze, poison ivy, bane, court of owls, over the next few movies then in the last movie all being controlled by the joker
Perfect example of how she should be right at 2:17 because:
She created that with science.
I totally agree. Make Poison Ivy a full on villain again and get her free of Harley who simply is holding her back
They could have her with ivy Tattoos and roses.
Keep bringing more villains, please!
I want poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn 😍
Fantastic video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
an angle that could be interesting to take is that Ivy sees herself as a protector of women, not just the earth. maybe she was sexually assaulted, maybe her wife/girlfriend (because most people know Ivy is a lesbian these days and it's an easy way to add "diversity points" in a way that doesn't detract from character and story) is killed and , and she's linked her personal tragedy to her crusade to save the earth. maybe her primary targets are rich, powerful men who can so easily make a woman's life hell, and society turns a blind eye because he's well connected. maybe she uses her knowledge of botany to craft designer poisons and maybe even douses the corpses in some sort of solution to faciliate the decomp and growth of plant life - so maybe we don't get Ivy telepathically controlling improbably sized vines, but the fact that there are plants growing out of these bodies far quicker than could naturally happen, maybe it throws off what time the victims died at - like the rate of growth would indicate they had been dead for x amount of time, only when Bruce and Gordon look into where the Victim was then, he was alive and well- this "unnatural" plant growrth
I’d love to see man-bat next
Imagine her having some type of Lex Corp plant based Iron man suit
I love this series! #naturealwayswins
tbh i kinda wanna see villains like black mask he could fit perfectly in this universe. but i want to see wht would matt reeves do with a character like mad hatter.
actaully what if ivy saw the flooding and destruction of the last movie and thought "you know what lets just fuckin start over"
Sick intro video! Can’t wait
But unfortunately the Riddler ruins it which makes Pamela very pissed and decides to take revenge. feeling nature dying and calling her to avenge them, Pam thinks/feels it is her duty from God to punish the people
Or you could do
The Rappaccini Daughter story as it is, making her a tragic character. Her wanting to save the plants but can't because of her curse, wanting to save her friends, the plants, feeling that nature is dying caused by the humanity, being the spoke person for nature and her feeling to avenge them, Pam thinks/feels it is her duty from God to punish the people.
“You’re just pitching a raging Greta thornburg” 😂😂😂😂😂
How about if The Batman II was like GODFATHER II? Godfather II parallels the story of Michael with that ofthe story of his father's establishment in America. The Batman II could feature long flashback sequences to Batman's first year and his capture of the Joker, juxtaposed to his current handling of Penguin or a new antagonist.
You should do Scarecrow next. I think scarecrow makes the most sense in this aesthetic. Throw Pyg in there and you have a horrific nightmare of a film. #naturealwayswins
I’m excited!

Always. 💜 🌎
My pick for Matt Reeves Poison Ivy would be Carly Chaikin
Here’s my pitch:
She begins in the drops industry and she is large player in creating these drugs through her knowledge in various sciences, primarily botany.

Lipstick mind control
Batman legends of the Dark Knight Hot House, decent read you guys should try it
Fascinating.......I like it.
Do pyg next. I see in as a jack the ripper type. Maybe he was a doctor with Thomas Wayne.
I don’t think Reeves is going to walk the line of fantastical. I think it’s going to be about as grounded as that first movie. No sci-fi powers or anything like that.
I forgot to add Hugo Strange
Poison Ivy or clayface are the villains I want to see most
The unwillingness to go into the insanity and macabre nature of the Batman character is why I don’t prefer the Nolan take on the character so I would hope that’s not going to be a theme in the Reeves films.
I missed the poll 😢. Freeze all the way.
