Honestly hearing people normalize it and talk about having an Ostomy has helped me better understand my own experience. I teared up when you talked about the limitations you had before your ostomy because i had a similar experience. I have had my ostomy for less than a year but watching these kinds of videos really help me understand how to better care and it informs me more with care. I’ve read some reviews on products but they’re from older people dealing with other health issues. I’m barely 22 and I’m really just starting to fully grasp what has happened to me.

I have an iPhone now, it hasn’t been my friend for a while at first..lol It’s awesome your doing this as it’s so important! I wish before I had my ileostomy I had a class I could have gone to to learn about the whole process. I literally went into this clueless! I thought I knew all I needed to know, but I was so wrong Eric. I might of even put it off for a while (if possible) I was simply clueless, then I found your channel. You taught me so very much, I appreciate you! Anyway, I will finish watching this..Thank you for all you do!! xo
I WISH I could be more comfortable with doing more things in my life. I honestly Eric as I mentioned to you months ago am up and down all night long, setting my alarm just to get to the bathroom so I don’t have a blowout. My life still after almost a year with my Ostomy, I am kind of stuck at home or must be near a bathroom ALWAYS! Sure, I’m in better health then before my Ostomy, but my life isn’t close to where I expected it to be like I hoped. I’ve excepted it, but hope it gets better sometime! My biggest wish is...not to be going to the bathroom every 30 mins to dump, or I hope to not have to set my alarm at night just to wake so I can go dump, if not I would wake to a mess. Yes, I set my alarm every 4 hrs..lol Sleep is not something I get much of. Yes, it’s time I take note on foods I eat, what makes me more loose then others etc. Its taken me a year to come to this conclusion, I should have listened more before..but I’m sure with the right diet I can live a better life! WOW...I said it, after all this time, I’m going to do what’s right..lol Thank you Eric! P.S. yes, October 17th this month I’m having hernia surgery. Finally going to rid of this after almost a year now. :)
Good luck with your surgery! How often do you eat during the day and how large are your meals? Your meal size and volume may be something to keep an eye out for because it can affect how often you empty the bag.
