    Out of curiosity, can you tell me where in the rulebook I can find the rules for premeasuring?
    Also does using a Navigate dial require you to change speed?

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the rulebook in front of me, but I believe I was mistaken when I recorded this video. You can use the RANGE ruler at any time, but you may only use your movement tool during the "Determine Course" step - so there is actually some distinction there. I actually plan to update this video soon.

    Good video, I noticed in most cases you didn't flip your defense tokens to the exhausted side and you said, "the accuracy rolls didn't matter because there wasn't any hits", in that attack. Even though there were no hits during that attack, I would think you still spend the accuracy, since another ship that could possibly fire on it later within the same round. The defense tokens don't get flipped back to the ready side until the end of the round. An additional attack would mean the defender would now have to discard them since they were already exhausted (if they chose to use them of course). I'm learning the rules too, so if I missed something please let me know. I realize in your first accuracy example, a second ship may not have been able to attack, but I think for rules clarity it should be mentioned.

    • @LEGIONOUTPOST
      @LEGIONOUTPOST 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brent Ward you did miss the rule accuracy only works for that attack in dose not spend the defense just cancel it for that attack I played first game thinking the same way you did but after rereading rule i found did it wrong,

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brent Ward Like Fistpro said, the accuracy doesn't "exhaust" the token, it only prevents you from spending it this turn. Likewise, an exhausted token CAN be spent, though it is then removed from the game.

    • @Aurora07
      @Aurora07 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry Rose black can only be used at short range. blue is short or medium and red is short, medium or long ranged.

  • @Beardedwaffl

    1.when starting up a game I know you have set points to "buy" ships. as well as upgrades etc. does each squadron pay points or is it just the one card? I'm figuring each squad uses points.
    2. you said squadrons gave to be within 2 spaces of a ship. is that at all times in order to use them? what happens if they get farther from 2 spaces? thanks for the help I was lost with the booklet but after watching this I'm ready to try it out

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1-Each squadron costs the points, you only need to use 1 card though if you have multiple squadrons of the same type, since the stats are identical. Named squadrons, like Luke Skywalker, for example, require a separate card though.
      2-The range 2 limit is only for deploying. After that they can move anywhere , though it's good to know that if a ship does a squadron command, it will only be able to reach squadrons which are within medium range (the Blue/Red dice side when you flip over the range ruler)

  • @thrawn2034

    Just got in to play this game and I have three questions:
    1) Can an enemy ship move if I'm engaging with squadrons?
    2) What happens if my ship ends outside the player area?
    3) How does the speed dial works? Can you change it per round and per ship or is it one standard speed decided before the game begins?

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +thrawn2034 1) - "Ships" are never engaged with squadrons. Engaged is a term for when squadrons are within range 1 of each other. So if you close to range 1 of an enemy SHIP, yes, it can simply fly away, ignoring your squadrons (However they might be able to catch up and shoot that ship's rear!)
      2) If any part of your ship goes off the mat, it has fled the battlefield and is destroyed.
      3) You declare a starting speed when you initially deploy your ship, and that speed can only be changed via a NAVIGATE command. You may change it by 1 each time you use a navigate command. NOTE that if you have a nav token, and then reveal a navigate DIAL, you may spend both the dial AND the token to change speed by 2 instead of just 1. (Still cannot exceed your max speed)

    • @thrawn2034
      @thrawn2034 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Crabbok In other words, setting up the navy speed is per ship not per faction. I can chose speed one for my victory and my opponent can chose speed 4 for HD corvette and speed 2 for his nebulon. With a Nav token or dail I can change speed accordingly, but only with a token or dial.
      1) How does tokens and dials work? I know that on the first round if I don't want to use a dail, I can take a token for a later time and in the next round if the dail matches the token, I can use both for stronger effect. However, what about the the dial and the token are different? Can I use that dial and that token on the same round?
      Let's say that I have my victory attacking a corvette at mid range and I have line of sight with both my frontal arc and side arc, I already have a concentrated fire token from the previous round and now I got a squadron dial, can I use the concentrated fire token to shoot from one arc and use the squadron dial for my second shoot?

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      thrawn2034 Tokens do a similar effect to the dial, but it is weaker. A Navigation Dial allows you to adjust your speed by 1 as well as your yaw (Add one extra click - beyond what is shown for the speed). A Navigate token ONLY allows you to change speed, and does NOT give you the extra Yaw. Each token is outlines in the rulebook and how the two command variants are different.

    • @thrawn2034
      @thrawn2034 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Crabbok How about upgrades, I know you can only have one hero like Tarkin or Dodonna, but what about ships titles, if I'm using two victory class star destroyers, can I use the warlord upgrade card for both if I have both cards or each ship needs to have its own different title?

    • @lootmaker99
      @lootmaker99 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +thrawn2034 the Warlord card is describing a specific ship of the victory class star destroyers. in other words, no. but if your playing with friends and they don't care, who is to say you can't.

  • @kungfuchef8500
    @kungfuchef8500 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I still don't understand the point of the color markers on the squadrons. What's the use of the blue/orange thing and the orange/blue token that you flip at the beginning of every round?

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KungFuChef Turn 1 Blue turn. Any squadron with blue showing may activate. If I activate 2 squadrons early in the round, it helps ensure they now show orange, so that I don't accidently double-activate them. Next turn, ALL squads should be orange, so we flip the token over to indicate this is an orange round.

    • @kungfuchef8500
      @kungfuchef8500 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crabbok oh, so it's just a way to prevent using the same squadron twice in a round? But the squadron command dial does allow to use squadrons twice in a round, right? Sorry to be asking, I just got the game, read the rules, and some stuff still aren't completely clear.

    • @kungfuchef8500
      @kungfuchef8500 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ohh I just checked on google, you can't use the same squadron twice in a round even with the squadron command, gotcha.

  • @kyle857
    @kyle857 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question. As a defender, can you spend multiple defence tokens during a single attack? I have seen people playing that way and it seems OP.

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kyle Bartley absolutely you can. Just not 2 of the same token. It is powerful for some ships, but that is why accuracy is important. Accuracy stops the use of a defense token. Multiple accuracies can be even more damaging.

    So the corvette took damage because the stars destroyer was going to bump it no matter how you moved it? But then you didn't move the star destroyer afterwards, yet removed the corvette. I'm confused.

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When a ship bumps another, you only move it so far as it can fit into the maneuver tool. Sometimes this results in a ship not actually moving. After the move you assign a damage card to each ship and if that kills one, you remove it from the board at that time.

      It's possible to get more out of the game with a lot less investment. Considering how much individual fighters are for X-wing, the core set starts you out with everything displayed here. Also, most smaller capital ships (such as the Corellian Corvette) are fairly cheap ($19.99 MSRP, usually for a lot less when you order them online). They are still coming out with more items for Armada, however, so if you wait you may be able to buy in when more ships are available.

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      palo569 The short answer is that when I roll 1 or more crits during an attack, the first damage card I deal you is dealt face-up. The long answer is that there are certain upgrade cards that can replace that effect with a different effect, called a "Critical Effect".

    • @palo569
      @palo569 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crabbok alright thank you, another question during my first play i got a damage card face up called "targeter disruption While attacking, you cannot resolve critical effects"does that mean i cannot resolve crits anymore or does that just apply to the upgrade card special effects?

    I really wish I could play this game but £100 starter sets and £20-50 expansions really make it impossible. I don't understand Fantasy Flights need to make a game impossible to collect.

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's cheaper than X-Wing though, when you consider that X-Wing has 10x as much products out there, with a few $100 ships of it's own.

    • @jamesvalentine2845
      @jamesvalentine2845 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      not really. Xwing I can jump into for £35, thats not £100. heck US RRP for X-wing is $40 which should cost us £30 or the US should be paying almost $50 for it. heck you should be paying almost $140 for Armada since we pay almost £100. well...if it was possible to get stock but thats FFG in general.

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Armada has a higher entry cost, but after that it becomes cheaper. Expansions are pretty similar, and while X-Wing does have a few $15 expansions, it also has $30 expansions, and up, even $100 expansions. Nobody ever just buys a core set and 2 expansions... and stops. People keep going. THAT is why X-WIng ends up being so much more expensive. The 13 Waves, all the aces packs and side releases, all the Huge Ships.... the 3rd faction.... It just goes on and on.

    • @jamesvalentine2845
      @jamesvalentine2845 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dunno. an old Xwing starter and new Xwing starter costs me £70 and gives me 6 ships which I can play differently. I'd probably add 1 more old starter for £100 to give me 9 ships (2 squads of 3 Ties and 1 squadron of x wing). that would be enough rebels for me as I'd not be too interested in those........then maybe add 2 interceptors, 2 bombers, 2 phantoms and thats it. so a total cost of about £200 and that's 15 ships. I have no interest in the larger ships............armada is £100 for a starter and again you may as well get 2 since a victory alone is £40 and the Corvette and Nebula are £20 each so thats £80 and that'll give you 2 of each. I'd only need a Home 1 and a pack of hammerheads for the rebels as again no interest in them..........but still £200 for 6 models just as a starting point, £40 home one, £20 hammerheads, ISD £50, 2 Imperial light cruisers £40, interdictor £40, Imperial carrier £30, Gladiator £30......thats again 15 ships for £450........ouch

    • @jamesvalentine2845
      @jamesvalentine2845 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crabbok you are right again, lol. Ok does the ship that reveal a squadron command, still execute 2 hull zone attacks?

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      brent schlaeppi It can. Revealing a squadron command means that you activate squadrons before you attack. You can activate a number of squadrons up to your squadron value (Or just 1 if you cash in a token). This is entirley separate form attacking. When attacking you can shoot from 2 different hull arcs. The attack action allows you to add a die to one of those attacks, (Or reroll a die if you cash in the token).
