This is my dads TA! It is 1 of only 250 ever made into convertibles at National Coach Engineering straight from the factory. The car is in great shape. My uncle bought it off the showroom floor then sold it to my dad. Of the 7,500 anniversary cars built, only 1,817 had the 400/T-10 combo, while the remaining 5,683 were built with the 6.6 Litre Oldsmobile 403
My uncle and aunt had the same car 35 years ago. I was 16 and my uncle said he would do something very cool if I detailed his truck. When I finished he said let's go for a ride in the trans Am and you drive. He taught me how to speed shift. That car had a lot of giddyup and go.
That was a long test drive Austin. Looks like a good job. Yes found a cooling system problem. And center the steering wheel. Good to go. That woody is very cool😎
In 1989 I bought a black 79 400/4spd t/a for $1200. It had the same ball milled aluminum dash, but had a 160 mph speedo and tach. Wish I would of never sold it! But I was young and dumb. Lol
Cool car! Great statement of its time. Did not know there was an outfit that did the convertible conversion on them. It sounds very nice without being obnoxious. On another note, when I see your beard I wanna whip out my hedge clippers......GG!
Yeah! I'd like to see that shifter in the T/A! Firebird! Like a T-handle" Vega style. And. The AMC' . LIKE the electric engaged supercharger/ Mad Max, and Chuck Norris
Back in the late seventies a street racer I knew wrecked his 1970 Cobra Torino, 429scj four speed and unable to find a suitable body that he liked he bought a 1977 Trans-Am black and gold t-tops and put the drive line out of the Torino in it. He continued to street race and hurt a lot of feelings and emptied some wallets with that black and gold rocket.
Need to put a hardtop back on that. No ttops, it'd be one of a kind. Let me talk to the owner..haha. (these 10th anniversary editions all had ttops as you might know) Later .
I think you drove the T/A way more than you should have,, Drive it a mile up, than a mile back. If I was the owner. I would be very upset and yes, I do Trans Am's, I have one also..
No. Sir'. I hope racing isn't dead! As long as we need/use fuel! .gov Is going to do their job governing. Guess if we get plentiful fuel, we gotta make it! Mine consists of a $hittank, fermentated=methane. "May" be towing it /w a spreader" to:DC./Cali.

Great video Austin. Not sure about that convertible TransAm. Love the interior but that convertible top looks weird. What do you think?
