Anyone can pick up a bag or wallet left on a bench without seeming guilty, but the second they need to cut through something or stop to interact with it outside of picking it up that advertises to anyone watching that they're trying to steal something. That's enough to dissuade most criminals, no anti theft device will protect something against someone who is trying to steal it, the only thing they'll ever stop is people who see an easy opportunity to take something with no consequences not an actual thief who is going around with the intent of stealing something

Ironically, the banna gadget infact did work since it slowed its ripening process. You only use the thing when their already yellow to slow down the browning. You can also used cling wrap and wll have the same effect the gadget one is jusy reusable

The only way to actually slow down ripening is to put it in the fridge or in the freezer if you want to stop it all together

You are both right but I think the point is to *reduce* the chance of theft rather than to completely prevent it. If someone tries to open it by force (for example with a knife) people are likely to notice and the thief will likely stop and leave.

WARNING FOR HUGO'S AMAZING TAPE! In my experience it DOES ruin your playing cards if stored in a warm environment. I wrapped ALL my cards from a bunch of board games with this cuz it was handy, but on some cards there was a dark streak on the back where the tape had been. (I keep some games in the car for the record) I do not recommend it for wrapping cards.
