    One trick from a very old cook. Start in cold water. When it comes to a boil remove meat and throw out the salty water. Start again with fresh water. No washing needed.

    Always cut against the grain. You cut it on the grain. It's more tender when cut against.

      I hollered out “nooooo”, too, when I saw it being cut with the grain. It melts in your mouth when sliced against the grain.

    Tammy, I just cooked up my first corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and onions! I was gifted the corned beef (a flat cut and a point cut) or I probably would have missed out on this delicious new addition to my meal rotation every couple of months! I’m sitting and eating it now! Ummmmmhmmmm!!! Yummy! I’m eating the flat cut right now. But I have every right to believe the point cut will be just as tender and delicious! I cooked mine in the crockpot overnight! Thank you for the demonstration, even though I’m eating mine while I watch and listen to you! You are wonderful, very enjoyable and relaxing, not making me anxious because the recipe is too complicated and using ingredients normal people don’t have in their homes. So just THANK YOU! 😁😁😁❤️

    If you bake the Corned Beef at 400° for 2 Hours until tender, covered with your spices, and 🌶🥔🥕vegetables, (cabbage is added last), you get a richer flavor and more tender🥩 beef. But, it's your preference on how you chose to🍜 prepare it.

      I use a Reynolds Browning bag and a half a Dr. Pepper, surround the corned beef with the veggies, cover the fat cap with the extra spices and do the cabbage separately on the stovetop so I can sautée it and get a little color on it when there's about a half hour left on the corned beef and veggies in the oven.. but I usually do it at 325° low and slow for longer.
      Either way.. it's delicious I'm sure, it just seems easier to make the cabbage separately to me.
      Blessings!

    • @venitakbennett-bonaparte1986
      @venitakbennett-bonaparte1986 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Ricca_Day Yes, I make my cabbage separately also. No. I don't use Dr. Pepper, just Distilled Water, bake at 400° and I make a pan of cornbread.

      I got 2 point cut briskets on Wednesday to cook for Sunday bcuz I work during the week except Wednesdays n the weekends. They were $10.00 n $5.83 the $10 one was the biggest. The flat cuts costed more.... $16 or $14 or $20 something each so the point cuts were cheaper n my two didn't really have any fat on em. Can't wait to cook them in my crockpot or oven

      @CookingWithTammy.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a crockpot it will be almost the same thing, the only difference is add the chopped onions to the bottom of the crockpot before adding the beef. Add the liquid followed by the spices, cover it down and let it do what it do. lol It will take about 8-10 hours in the crockpot, according to the size. Add the veggies within the 4thy hour and cabbage during the last 2 hours of the cooking process. Add more liquid if necessary.
