    I'm 33 already. I always cry at this moment in the game. Maybe it's because I don't get along as well as I'd want with my father but this song always touch my heart.
    Nanaki hates his father, he thinks of him as a coward who betrayed the people who swore to protect but then he discovers the true. While Bugenhagen explain it to him, Nanaki just stand in silence:
    - Look, Nanaki. Look at your father, at the warrior, Seto.
    (And the drums kick into the song while the camera shifts to show us the fearless Seto up in the canyon against a red moon in the sky)
    - I am Nanaki of Cosmo Canyon! The son of the warrior, Seto! I'll come back a warrior true to that noble name! So please, Grandpa...
    (And tears start to fall from Seto's eyes, and the drums enter again, and Nanaki howls... and I cry with him)

    • @KaraComparetto
      @KaraComparetto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the tempo change is a cool way to draw attention to the "story-like" feel of this arrangement. The layout is just perfect, and I love how it ends with the same theme as the beginning. Hopefully I'll cover the opera version in the near future!

    This has always been an extremely emotional piece for me. I've never purposefully gone out to find piano arrangements for it, but this is the best playing of it on this instrument I have heard so far.
    My favorite part of the song would have to be the tonal shift around 2:42 here that is present in so many renditions, not sure why. You have some of the best played pieces I've ever heard on your channel, and the effort put into the recording setup shows. I hope you play pieces that you enjoy and continue to do so, sometimes I worry that songs I'm listening to might have a lack of conviction because of pressure to perform. Seriously a wonderful channel.

    Whoa, really nice! You had some really excellent, fluid phrasing throughout the whole thing, I thought, and the ending had a really nice, careful decrescendo. Also, your transitions in and out of f to mp/p were reaaaaaally smooth, which is *not* easy to do (1:30 is one of a bunch of examples of that). I also thought you had really good tempo shifts. It was just really expressive in general--thanks for sharing it! (also, the arrangement is killer, you're right)

    • @KaraComparetto
      @KaraComparetto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can tell you're really listening to dynamic changes, and I'm glad you thought mine were on par! If anything, I struggle most with this, because my piano needs its hammers voiced, and my microphones aren't quite balanced right, I don't think. But there's a lot of fun to be had with the dynamics in this arrangement!

    Definitely the best piece from the ffvii piano collections, can I ask how old is your steinway? it has a very good tone and more character than some of the newer models I've heard

      Thank you Nick, it's one of my favorites for sure! My Steinway is a 1925 model L. The 1920s were some of the best years for Steinway, so I am really happy with my instrument! I'm also glad you like it too :)

    Wow, amazing playing! I was wondering, what fingering would you recommand for this piece? I've been trying to play it, but I'm not sure what fingering I should use

    I think it's beautiful and AMAZINGLY played! Today was quite a stressful day for me, so thank you for helping me feel better with your amazing playing cause I couldn't even crack a music joke to my friends 😭😂

    Kara, have you ever taken a look at the Main Theme from this book? I think it's called that, I somehow ended up with the Japanese version of this book. It's the only one in E Major.
    There's a tricky chord in measure 14, voiced D#, E, G#, D#, and I'm interested to hear what your suggested finger for that chord is. You are my go-to resource for how to play these tunes.
    Beautiful playing as always!

      It's the piano collections for VII? I'm sure I've played it before but off the top of my head can't remember! I'll try to take a look at it when I'm able :)

    Hi Kara, just discovered your channel and.. wow, the way you play these tracks is so beautiful, i really enjoyed it. I always had a passion for videogames and music too, so I'm really appreciating what I've listened so far. If you please, I would like to give you some music suggestions on YT you may not yet know, inspiration is fundamental in my opinion :-) Ni No Kuni (gorgeous game, love it. Look for the main theme and expecially the world map cover by atin piano), Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2(gorgeous games too, you can find lots of music by hollow riku), monkey island 2, 3 (look for w3sp, he's very good), lastly Eternal Sonata Leap the Precipice by dusk piano. Hope to see this channel keep growing, it deserves it. Greetings from Italy !

      thank you so much for this! All of those games except Kingdom Hearts I haven't heard of, which is surprising because I get so many new requests every week! I'll definitely keep these in mind, but Kingdom Hearts for sure will be coming up, i actually had the privilege of playing the first one ^^

      Kara Comparetto glad to hear that ! I expecially reccomend you Ni no kuni, real emotional and beautiful story, definetely one of a kind. If you enjoyed KH 1 then I'm pretty sure you'd love this too :-D

      Kara Comparetto if you played themes like Aladdin and little mermaid, and beauty and the beast, primarily you've done the basics for Kingdom Hearts 1 already because it's a Disney themed game for the most part with levels themed around Disney movies as well as others I won't mention to help you or give you ideas.

      I actually had the pleasure of playing that game when I was younger! I only played the first one, but really enjoyed it and would love to play the next one in the series. Great music and GREAT GAME!

      Kara Comparetto; apparently one of the arrangements I was looking for "Find your way" was beautifully done, but the other one that I was looking for is called "Mark of a Traitor", the theme for Corel in FF7. I will keep looking...

    Remarcable ! Indeed the flow of the song is a lot different from the original, I so like the sudden changes of rhytme that you interpreted so beautifully. And as if the beauty of this song wasn't enough you smiled through it ...
    Beautiful song played beautifully by a natural beauty
    Ps: Recently Started FF IX since i never went past disc 3 ... good thing on pc i won't struggle as much...since... you know... no defective disc xD I had original... copies... friend copies and friend original even tried with different consoles cleaning disc resurfacing trying different disc 3 without shutting down the play 'cause i hadn't safe for hourrrssss and farmed for long ALWAYS SOMETHING XD ... Today i realised...that cosmo canyon boss was a piece of cake after all (Y) As soon i'm done with MGS V Phantom Pain i'll start twitching FF9 (Already in Treno in around 9 hours.. minus the 4 hours of tetra games i played to get some rare card for fun... xD)

      Oh nooo a defective disc?! Haha I remember that happening to me sometimes, or worse, a sibling erasing your save file XD I hope you enjoy IX! I'm almost done with XV, it was a really emotional game. I can't wait till the piano sheet music comes out :)
      I also love the tempo change at the beginning, although it can be a bit deceiving for someone who isn't planning to watch the entire thing haha :)

      Wow cool! I hope you liked it. This arrangement has a bit of a different style than the OST, but I think it works very well, I love it! :)

    This reminds me of the day I came home from school, and defeated the boss inside the cosmo canyon cave. Nanaki (Red XIII) found his petrified father pierced with arrows and learned he died defending the canyon. Red XIII realized the mistake he'd made for hating his father all those years.

    Do you think at any point you'll do OST versions of FF music? As nice as these Piano Collections ones are I still do prefer the originals :) I also thought of another great series it would be great if you could look into for music - Castlevania!

    • @KaraComparetto
      @KaraComparetto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes, Castlevania! I hope to cover some from that someday, I think there are some nice arrangements out there. I personally prefer the arrangements over the OST, because for me it's not just about the theme but also what can be done with that theme in a piano arrangement. The piano can do so much, and I love seeing what others have done with it to make these themes really shine!
