8:55 I've been to Mawsynram, Meghalaya in November 2017, in a school trip. We had to wear raincoats 24/7. For some moments it might not feel like it's raining, but there's so much moisture in air that you'll be wet. Note that it was mid-November, while monsoon in North-East India ends by early-October. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to, with so many waterfalls around me it felt like heaven. It's definitely a great tourist spot but not a good place to live your life.

-La Riconada has no real town government actually, utilities and the paycheck for the gold miners is a crappy policy (work 30 and then get to take as much ore one can carry as their payment).
-Norilsk is a closed city actually and the soil has become so polluted that mining it a second time is economically feasible.
-Tristan da Cuhna is actually a nice I hear and the slow pace of life without the distractions of typical living elsewhere is considered a blessing.
-Alert is a research base, not a town; Grise Fjord (also on Ellesmere Island) though is an inhabited town.

    • @wardarcade7452
      @wardarcade7452 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

Let's not overlook that (in addition to the blatant graft, crime, corruption and poverty) La Riconado at 5700 meters (16,700 feet) in altitude has a limited oxygen supply and has unbelievable pollution with unspeakable filth in its streets (only three showers available to the public - that's three individual showers- to be paid for).
As for Tristan da Cunha? Yes, it has a slow pace with no distractions of city life. However, it's SO remote that food and supplies are rather sporadically imported and virtually the only locally produced food are the potatoes which each inhabitant is expected to participate in the farming of. Also, one had better learn to be civil if not like as many of one's neighbors as possible as only about 238 people live there. Hence, it's not hard to imagine that with its dual combo of extreme remoteness and a small population this would be a place where most if not everyone would be minding else's business . So if one likes having urban services, fresh varied cuisine and privacy, this likely wouldn't be the ideal spot.

I’d like to add a few cities
    Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
    -Highly restrictive government
    -Very little personal freedom
    -Completely unaffordable housing
    Sana’a, Yemen
-Controlled by the Iranian backed Houthis rebels
    -Civil war and violence
-Constant threat of war and invasion from Saudi Arabia
    Petare, Venezuela
    -Ridiculously high crime rate
    -Shoddy and structurally unstable housing
-Virtually no police force given the incompetent and highly corrupt government
    -Insanely overcrowded
    Port Au Prince, Haiti
-Literal war zone and lack of government
    -Immense poverty
-Highly prone to devastating earthquakes, and dangerous debris from the previous earthquake
    -French

Asmara is actually one of the nicest places to be in Africa. It is very clean, absolutely safe and low traffic and has good infrastructure and architecture because its basically an italian town from the 1930s and the climate is near to perfect which is around 20-28 °C all year round. There are many bars, restaurants and cafes just as in Europe. I have been there more than 10 times because I am Eritrean.
The points you‘ve made about the city is being a bad place to live is purely due to poverty and politics which aren’t much better anywhere else. I’d rather live in Asmara than in Addis Abeba for example because Addis Abeba is dangerous, crowded and more polluted than Asmara.
Many westerners would be surprised how comfortable it is to be in Asmara.

No more open spaces and horrible traffic, doesn't matter. I have live in Europe for years, and have moved all over the States because of work. Let me tell you, the one thing that makes Los Angeles bad is people who move here from other States. The bring their prejudices, hate, selfishness, and rudeness. LA was always so forgiving and slow moving. Still, with all its diversity, different foods, places to go, people to see, and things to do, LA is a really interesting place to live. And, you do not have to be rich. You always will find something to do.
