Nice video about beta oxidation of fatty acids . Understanding Biochemistry is extremely important for all doctors including gynaecologists. Without understanding the steroid pathway we can't understand the pathophyiology of Disorders of Sex Development . I would like to add few things more here about beta Oxidation . Beta oxidation takes place in four steps: dehydrogenation, hydration, oxidation and thyolisis. Each step is catalyzed by a distinct enzyme. It is the catabolic process by which fatty acid molecules are broken down.
ur way of explanation is really good but the thing is beta oxidation of prokaryotes takes place in cytosol. u need to mention type 1 and type 2 beta oxidation
Sir ur all videos are very helpful n awesome bt please make a vedio on this topic in detail...Why the cyanates are efficient blocker of complex 4 of mitochondria
Thank you so much sir, I have a question sir, so we have seen each B-oxidation cycle yeild 1 FADH2, 1 NADH and 1 Acetyl CoA, so in terms of Energy, what is the total Energy is produced?
I really enjoyed watching your this lecture. Though, I have core technology background out of interest in nutrition, I landed up on your video. Thanks. Only the cycle you could have explained on board than computer would have been better.
Sir, I am 3rd year Bsc honours botany student... Sir I have a question regarding this.. Sir, if I am asked "write about the beta oxidation of fatty acids '.-in this answer, do I have to mention about 'the activation of fatty acids in the cytosol and transport of fatty acids in the mitochondria' or directly I will start the answer from fatty acyl coenzyme a....? Sir plz help me...
Explanation is good but very slow. U can explain more about beta oxidation like beta oxidation of saturated fatty, unsaturated fatty acid, odd chain fatty acid, even chain fatty acid etc.,
Sir You really help us out...Is it possible for you to post one video on Important formula for Bioprocess engineering such as Yield x/s and Impeller Speed and input and output rate dilution... Thank you so much for the video..!😇
in case of palmiotyl-coa is a 16 carbon molecule . that produce 8 acetyl- coa . but remember that there occur by 7 cycel of beta oxidation.. coz the last acetyl -coa is not actualr derivedfrom beta oxidation, it is usually the last and left out acetyl-coa .
Simple answer is that Palmatic acid consist of 16 carbons n=16 and Acetyl coA consist of 2 carbons n=2 Thus n/2 = 16/2 =8 Acetyl CoA Now Beta oxidation step... The cycles can be given by formula (n/2 -1) Thus 16/2 -1 = 7 cycles of beta oxidation This is because the 8th Acetyl CoA will not under goes Beta oxidation cycle as it has only 2 carbon atoms.. hope you have understand it😊
More the carbon atoms in Fatty acid molecule, more the Chemical reaction cycles will be there to produce Acetyl CoA , NADH + H+ , FADH2 , which further make ATP. So 16 carbon atom containing fatty acid (Palmitic Acid) will produce less energy (ATP) than 18 carbon atom containing fatty acid (Stearic Acid). Hope this helps
Sir, i am preparing for ICAR AIEEA PG in plant biotechnology ....plz refer some good books for objective questions which are helpful in short time...plz guide me...i am unable to get old papers...kindly guid me...i have stared preparation form 22january... Plzplz reply soon
What about ketone without ketone the beta oxidation never going to happen so u have to mention about ketone components which is essential for beta oxidation n formation of atp🤨🧐
Shomu i love your videos but can you try to pronounce the T in ATP a bit clearer? It is very difficult to hear if you say ADP or ATP. You pronounce it as "dee" instead of "tee" Thank you so much, biggest respect to you :)
Preparing myself for Bsc Biotechnology after HS. Your lectures help me a lot Sir. Thank U so much ❤️❤️

Great man keep on
Is there no participation of any Enzyme in the breakdown of FA Acetyl CoA
please what breaks the long fatty acids into fragments before taking it to the mitochondria for further breakdown to produce acetyl COA
There is no problem in biochem or biotech or microbiological with shomu sir

Why and how Palmitoyl CoA undergoes 7cycles of beta oxidation to yield 8 acetyl CoA? Explain the calculation sir..
in case of palmiotyl-coa is a 16 carbon molecule . that produce 8 acetyl- coa . but remember that there occur by 7 cycel of beta oxidation.. coz the last acetyl -coa is not actualr derivedfrom beta oxidation, it is usually the last and left out acetyl-coa .
Simple answer is that
Palmatic acid consist of 16 carbons n=16
and Acetyl coA consist of 2 carbons n=2
Thus n/2 = 16/2 =8 Acetyl CoA
Now Beta oxidation step...
The cycles can be given by formula (n/2 -1)
Thus 16/2 -1 = 7 cycles of beta oxidation
This is because the 8th Acetyl CoA will not under goes Beta oxidation cycle as it has only 2 carbon atoms.. hope you have understand it😊

Thank you sir
in the first step there is (ch2)n-2, and in the 3rd (CH2)n..why?
Sir can you gives me the note or link of the B oxidation
Pls provide a video on carnitine cycle only ...

@@shomusbiologyofficial thank u 😊
16 carbon saturated fatty acid produce more energy in oxidation or 18 carbon unsaturated fatty acid? Can u plz tell

Not as good as you deal with genetics. Like the genetics part goes straight in side the head.
from where coA is coming??
Can you transfer in hindi 😡
Try to speak in hindi since most of your viewers are indian and i will be easy to understand too
Most of Indians don't know Hindi. One more thing, only 53% population of my viewers are from India
