I remember getting the Superstar trophy in Mirror’s Edge. That game alone is the reason why I despise speed run related trophies. Every time I see “complete the game in this amount of time” or “complete this section of the game within only so many seconds”, I flash back to this nightmare.
finally a reason to buy games on epic games or switch. playing through relicta in 5 hours? fuck no. started playing outer worlds today aince epic gave it away for free and there are so many stupid hyper specific achievements on steam, but I can just ignore all that bullshit and play however I want on epic. another one is cave story +. impossible to get the achievements if you're not a speedrunner. or vaporum. why would I want to speedrun a first person dungeon crawler. the run is so hard that best speedrun I found on youtube beat the time by like a mere minute.
You probably managed to get a load of three stars after giving up on that hard level because, despite not beating it, you got really good at the hardest mechanics, which means that you were getting really good despite not being rewarded in the moment.
I remember there being a few tricks to get Faith up to full speed from 0 momentum and that if you did a slide kick you can open the doors faster. I think it was also faster to do a curl jump repeatedly when running in a straight line that made you faster then Faith’s top speed.
This fills my soul with warmth. Biggest ME fan here (I'm in full Faith Crossplay in my profile pic/actually have her tattoo and have done countless POV Parkour videos based on it) I remember how hard as nails these were to get and to see someone else achieve it rocks. Congratulations man.
@@JTGallant I see, welcome to the community! Feel free to hit me up on Discord if you do join (there's a list of Discord servers on the Mirror's Edge subreddit), I'd love to have a chat there!
The fact you did this without any movement tech/glitches is nuts!! I had to add least use side jump boosts to get some of the more difficult ones done :D Big grats
This is my favourite video of yours so far dude. I was so invested and it had me on the edge of my seat. You can genuinely feel your emotion of trying to get those last few achievements on this. Great video! ❤️
Well done that was impressive. It was clear that you were improving and getting better and better, these trials are really hard. Especially since you didn't look up any guides or tried any speed tech, which would help cut down the times a lot. You got 3 stars on the trials 'as intended', and you have to play near perfect to achieve that
Definitely would suggest trying the Catalyst challenges! I 100% the game and the time trials were an absolute pain, especially since some required certain items to get them done with three stars (like the very first one the main story introduces you to, you literally couldn't get there without the grappling hook). But in the end, it's very satisfying when you get them all finished
Thank you so much for your content. Hopping to see the Infamous ones someday. Meanwhile we will enjoy anything because you make this very entertaining!
Been watching you since your Dishonored videos and your friendly additude and overall determination inspired me to 100% it as well, as it is one of my favorite games of all time. Keep pumping these banger videos man, we love them.
mirror's edge time trials are notoriously hard, They are known for it, The will be known for it, this will stay this way forever its just a masterpiece
Amazing Video! You have put me off going back to complete :) I recently completed catalyst which is a walk in the park compared to the first one . The time trials are much shorter!
You did an incredible job. I love the Games Soundtrack it always brings tears into my eyes hearing it. Keep on going my guy you've earned a like and even more. Further and even Further plus Ultra
That little speech at the end about how AAA games don't really want to take risks reminds me of Hi-fi rush, A game by the devs of The Evil Within. I'd recommend it, Maybe we'll see an achievement grind on it one day?
As a spectator who doesn't play this kind of game, I feel like having achievements that are actually ACHIEVEMENTS, things that are hard to obtain and are thus an achievement to obtain, is something games nowadays lack. Modern Games: "You started the game? Go you, have an achievement! Oh, you killed your first rodent? Have two more!" Mirror's Edge: "You want this achievement? Over my cold, dead, body."
You are a true gamer good sir. I'm glad I found you. The first video I seen from you was the dishonored trilogy video. I'm literally going through all your videos and watching them starting with your old ones. Good stuff my man. True gamer right here
sorry for your pain! looks like you weren't side stepping to gain full speed quicker.. makes thing MUCH harder and is taught in the prologue I think LOL. anyway GG loved the vid
This, by far was one of the toughest experiences I've had in a game. Superstar achievement is simply brutal and unfair. But I give credits to the devs as it puts the gamer in another level of learning the mechanics and give you an incredible joy after completion. GG, mate, I really understand your feeling when this popped on your screen and I felt the same: Got it, but never again 😄 Ps. Catalyst is a breeze compared to it. The time trials have a LOT of room for errors and you can still get 3 stars on maps with several seconds to spare.
Thank you for another fantastic video, mate👍 Also, if you want a more chill speed run game to grind, I recommend Neon White. It is very addictive and fun.
Some of those levels looked brutal. I’m also an achievement hunter, and this video makes me a little hit happy that I’ve never played this game before 😅
Congrats on getting all the achievements! These speed run trials looked miserable to do I wouldn't have the patience required. By the end the maps seemed burned into your memory.
Good job! This is such a hard achievement the first time you try it. Friends used to give me their info so I could log into their accounts and do the speedruns for them lmao
I got all achievements for this game as a kid and didn't know it was a difficult one to complete. In fact it was one of the only games I got all the achievements for on my xbox360. Good job
Getting all the achievements as a kid was the best feeling I had playing a game at the time, and then got a world record on one of the dlc maps was amazing too
I loved this game and spent about 8 hours on one trial. It took me a day to speed run the final level. I actually held a world record on Xbox for a month or so, too. Took me forever. Such a great game.
This has gave me the motivation to grind achievements again after being in a slump. It's not easy being an achievement Hunter but it sure as hell is rewarding
I feel so motivated to try this, because there's a handful of tricks that speedrunners use that you didn't happen to know about, mainly side jump boosting and coiling on every jump. I feel like that might make things a bit less brutal
Mirror’s edge has always been a game that’s been tied around strong memories for me and after I saw this video about a week ago I decided to 100% the game myself, I’m currently doing the time trials and I have 51 star, but I believe the platinum time trials in Crash Bandicoot 1 remastered are harder I would love to see you try those.
The achievements being this hard is what makes them worth it, unlike in most games getting 3 stars doesn't just mean that you're decent at the game it actually means that you're great.
I feel your pain especially since I've been trying to beat the campaign time trials and I only have 3 left. However, since I bought a second hand copy of mirrors edge recently for xbox 360 I've been having issues accessing the pure time trials. Also, one thing I loved about mirros edge in general is tht even though the game is linear there are so many ways to get from point a to b. Even when doing the time trials I encountered glitches or short cuts at random that helped me beat the stage faster.
Bro, congrats. This game about broke me getting the 90 stars (still think Dishonoured Dunwall trials were harder). My friend asked me to do the 90 stars for him. I agreed as long as I was allowed to microwave the disc when done. He honoured the agreement, took months though. 😭
I think Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War would be great games to do achievement grind videos on. Lotta achievements and a pretty damn good pair of games as well.
Completely unrelated but everytime I scroll by one of your videos, I have to do a double take because you remind me of a German youtuber called Sturmwaffel. Its the beard and the beanie mostly, especially when not paying close attention. Love the video!!
Now that you’ve 100% mirrors edge and uploaded it to TH-cam, you can use her side dash then turn into it to get to or back to speed quicker. Speed runners do it all the time
I actually had to do these trials twice lol. I went for the platinum trophy in 2014, took me around 6 days to do every non dlc trophy but back then I wasn't doing DLCs. That changed in around 2019 and I wanted to go back and reach 100% of trophies, but, my PS3 Fat has died a few years earlier and I had no save file for the game. And because the DLC trophy requires you to not only finish DLC trials, but to also have already enough stars from the base game. So, I had to re-do all base game trials and only then I was able to unlock the DLC trophies. Damn that was fun though, a great game and a fun challenge
DAMN you got all that by bunny hopping once and never sidestepping? incase you don't know, if you sidestep and then run into the direction you side stepped into you'll immediately go full speed have fun :)
A cool new type of game? Heck, give Stray a go? Super charming and relatively small game! Might be a fun little achievement hunt, maybe even well deserved and much more relaxed lol
I'm going to tell your mom 😈 Good job bro, you really show that improvement cannot be done quickly, there's long and hard process behind it, not to mention the trial and error too.
Guess I’m in that .066% too. This game is absolutely amazing and frustrating at the same time. Catalyst is fantastic as well. Give us a 3 DICE! These achievements are definitely doable with practice and do not demand perfection-just close to it. Tactical Challenger in Vanquish is equally as fun/challenging.
Funny thing is, I remember seeing your “Dishonored” video a month or so back in my feed for many days, and everytime I saw it, I just thought that you’d just be another TH-camr who plays the game half-arsed while commentating random things. But then one day, after seeing the same video for the 4th time, I gave you a shot, and just wow, I’ve been waiting patiently for your videos ever since. Each one of them are absolute gold, and I can really see that you’ll grow big one day, because your content is just top notch. Also, I was wondering, but do you only go for specific games or genre? I could imagine that’d stay away from multiplayer games for obvious reasons, but what about games like Mount & Blade or Subnautica? Because I’d love to see you tackle them at some point.
I appreciate that! Really kind of you to say! And I'll tackle pretty much any game! I don't mind multiplayer achievements, and even impossible achievements I'm trying to work around. Also haven't heard of the first but Subnautica has been requested a fair bit so probably will tackle that eventually! 👌🏻
I really mean it. I often have work in the weekend, so I love watching your new content in my lunch breaks. 😃 Mount & Blade is a sandbox-ish type of game where you start off as a simple soldier in medieval Europe, and you can then do smaller quests, fight bandits, join factions or make your own, etc. It’s geuinely really fun when you get over the grind at the start, although it takes some time to grind out all the things.
I just 100%ed this game about a month ago and I agree with everything you said about the difficulty here times ten. The completion comes with a caveat though as I really wanted to snap the disc in half after being done with the game but couldn't since I only own a digital copy. So the best I could do is uninstall it. Not quite the same.
Very well done! I recently went through the same hellish challenge myself, though I went for the 99 stars and not just the achievements (before the leaderboards servers shut down for good back in Jan 19 2023). A lot of blood, sweat and tears were shed indeed. Also recorded it all, will upload my runs on my channel really soon. I did cheat a bit, however, I looked up 3-star tutorials because I just don't have the patience to figure out the paths myself, it was still more than hard enough. I also used some movement glitches like sidestep boost, wallboosts, etc. I don't think you did? Looks like you figured things out on your own. Impressive! Which Xbox did you play the game on, btw? Looks like it's 30FPS in your video so I'm guessing not the Series X?
Remember that he completed this on a gamepad It is like having a beehive on your head and needing to get into a river, but you are wheelchair chair bound
I remember seeing some crazy stuff in other people's ghosts in some of the challenges. Somehow people were doing some sort of wacky bullshit to gain massive amounts of speed with some combination of jumping and crouching or something I was never able to figure out
Its wall jump boosting and other shenanigans. Look up mirrors edge speed tech and you'll discover all of the crazy tricks people do to break the game physics and go faster.
@@IDyn4m1CI I think I'll pass. I always hated tricks that break a game's physics in these sort of challenge types. I don't mind them in speedruns of games, but I hate competing in "official" challenge levels when everyone is just breaking the game. Especially since you can't separate these leaderboards in the game. It just turns it from "who can play the game the best" to "who can abuse glitches the best", even if that requires skill to do.
@@Eonymia I mean if everyone is breaking the game then its a level playing field, right? lol. I like the tricks, some of them are extremely broken, most of them are hard to pull off and it raises the skill gap of the game tremendously. But they definitely take the challenge out from these time trials if you abuse it though.

First time in a long time I look forward to a creators vids every week. Love achievement hunting myself. These are the perfect videos

I'm MEGA surprised he didn't look up any speed tech in basically a speedrunning game!
I can’t blame him for not especially if he is avoiding using guides but the tech does help out in doing these achievements when you know about them!

0k nice buddy NEXT - mirror's edge catalyst 100%
I remember doing these and I loved it, but you're right, they made me soooo mad
Wildly disappointing AND relieving when you find out ME Catalyst trials are nowhere near as hard.
@@romaindubray2325 I thought the exact same thing however I did love the open world to parkour in
