I remember reading the article about this in SI. The story gets wilder. Mykal Riley practiced his jumpshot in his grandmother's backyard on a basketball court she paid to have constructed to help keep her grandkids and the neighborhood kids out of trouble after school. She was able to afford it because Mykal's aunt was tragically killed when an ex-boyfriend of his older cousin shot everyone in her house. So Mykal practiced every day, gets a spot on an NJCAA team that runs a full court offense where his job is to shoot every time he touches the ball, and gets himself scouted to Alabama.
@@betterthanyesterday3912 if your god requires everyone in a family to be brutally murdered for him just to get good at basketball, your god is disgusting. He could be in that spot from a community court if "god" gave him the talent. From wanting to get out of place where his family couldn't afford a basketball hoop
The first story was interesting. I saw so much time left I thought what else can he talk about? The second story was amazing how it unfolded. Looked at the time and thought what next? The last story was one of the reasons I keep coming back and watching your stuff. Just brilliant.
Darko is a very interesting character, despite living in America for 10 years, he absolutely hates America. Miličić is a supporter of the Ravna Gora movement (Ravnogorski pokret), and has tattoos of World War II Chetnik leaders Nikola Kalabić and Momčilo Đujić on his stomach, and Draža Mihailović and Brane Bogunović on his back. In late 2013, he expressed his support for far-right politician Vojislav Šešelj. In Serbia the far right is very Anti-NATO and USA and supports Russia
the darko butterfly effect is even more than that. Nemanja saw how Darko had thrown away a good part of his basketball career due to his partying, and knew nikola would do the same, so he urged nikola jokic to lock in and never to party, so if darko was a decent basketball player and partying didn't hurt his career so much, nikola might not be the all time great he is now
Wow, Darko might've not been a great basketball player but he sure was an amazing friend to Nemanja. First aiding him in his choice to go to America, and next helping his brother succeed in his career? You don't meet people like that often.
That first story I remember so well. But seeing it from that way, that perspective, puts a whole new meaning to it. A basketball saved THOUSANDS of lives. Crazy

The NBA really needs to consider bring Jxmy on as a storyteller of the game; he is an historian with few equals, and he releases consistently, superb work. I’m still in awe of the LeBron scoring record video. Phenomenal work Jxmy!
A lot of greats... There are always stories about how a certain kid was better than an all-time great at a certain age, but didn't have the same work ethic, opportunities, motivation, healthy body etc etc. If we were to go to an alternate universe where Jokic was a regular tall dude riding horses and told people he was one of the basketball GOATs, no one would believe it. "How would this chubby kid be great at basketball?" We might be seeing GOATs who never were all the time in our lives, but a reverse butterfly effect prevented them from achieving such status.

I still remember this tornado like yesterday. I was sitting in my bathtub at my parents' home at the time, 20ish miles north of downtown Atlanta, and I remember the NWS tornado warning coming out of the radio and not thinking much of it. A few days later, we visited downtown Atlanta and saw the absolute carnage, debris on the street and most strikingly the windows ripped off the skyscrapers (especially the 73-story Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel). Def a sight I never forgot, and it's an absolute miracle that hundreds didn't die that day quite literally. Also as a side note, the structural damage this tornado caused to the Georgia Dome was one of the reasons it got demolished on November 2017, which I was also there for and got some pics of the implosion.

@@idkguy3882 yeah but usually people get different sponsorships they don't keep promoting the same one to their consumers.
I remember watching this game live with the fam, it’s great to relive the true extent of the situation. Great video brotha!🙌❤️
Jxmy can you please make a playlist for all of your videos? The content helps me sleep and having a playlist would help so much.
Absolutely FANTASTIC video and one of the channel's best!
This is more than just a basketball channel...it's a cultural one.
I really liked the format of three short stories, ik you can’t do that every video but I’d love to see more like this!
