- 11 year old runner Quenton Lanese attempts to break the world record for fastest mile time ran by an athlete under 12 years old. The current world record is 4 minutes 43.7 seconds. It was a pleasure for me (@TheAthleteSpecial) to run alongside this BEAST as the pacer for his track race in Seattle!

Crazy how he ran in lane 2 the entire race whilst dodging others!
824m for the first 2 laps
Ikr! Felt bad for him lol
@@justinbloomer So he basically ran 4:43 right? Since it was in lane 2 and he had extra meters to run?
What a legend. When your comparing someone to Jakob Ingebrigsten, you know they're insane. Hoping this kid can stay consistent and keep improving if thats what he wants
About 15 years ago I watched a very competitive 11-year old run a 3000 at this same series. She is now a European indoor champion and is competing tonight in Eugene for UK as Amy-Eloise Markovic...running dreams come true with work and perseverance.
Awesome Spencer that you are giving back and helping the up and coming runners. 👍
This kid will be the new Athlete Special and take over Spencer's channel. This is no laughing matter.
Great video and kudos to SB for taking time out of his day to help this kid out!
Those adults couldn't give the kid the inside lane? I guess they didn't want to get beat by an 11 yr old. Smh
i mean true but also its a competition and this kid is a top tier athlete so adults should treat him as if he is an adult
@@rohanprabhu6820 still tho
Why make it easy on the kid? Adversity is the fire that drives successful people. You hand him the inside lane without making him fight for it and he'll get soft. Show him the math of how much further he had to run in lane 2 and how much faster his time could have been and he'll learn quickly how to be a better tactician and how to either be a front runner or a kicker (depending on the competition) after getting experience like this.
@@JoeMac1983 Also couldn't he have done a solo time trial while Spence paced him? That would have been another solution as well.
LeTtTtTtTsSsSs GoOoOoOooOo, well I'm glad I have some content to watch while I'm out with COVID, it really means a lot!
I’m 13 and ran 4:59 at an all comers meet this guy is seriously fast.
Great run kid. Awesome time... my son is 12 yrs old and runs 800m 1500m and anything up to 5km. He raced his 1st mile at a track challenge and got a 4.37. Looked up the world record for a 12yr old mile and its 4.35 so not far off and is currently running sub 4.20 for 1500m. He will be 13 in june 2024 so hopefully he geta a crack at it by then. All the best Quinton keep kickn goals
Holy smokes. Mad respect to you Quinton
Can we please get a limited edition “Bigfoot Baby” merch drop?
Great job young man, honestly think you would have gotten it if there weren't others in your way. It's all good though you're 11 man, you have yet to scratch the surface of what you'll accomplish. Never heard of you until now but you've got a new fan in me
The story rarely ends well for child prodigy's with aggressive parents. I wish him well.
I know. Like Jakob with the age 11 world record and several after that? And that Mario Garcia Romo guy with the age 11 1000 meter world record? And those Josh Kerr and Jake Wightman guys who have been running against each other competitively since age 8 coached by parents? Let’s not head that direction by any means!
Just like it did for Jakob
Not to mention the training he has to be undergoing, which could be impairing his statural growth.
“Just sit back relax and enjoy the show”
your best video yet. big foot baby
Get him in a race that’s less crowded, record will come easy!
We want to see a Bigfoot hunt for next week’s video
Ahh to be a young buck again, those were the days, great race!
And that is a great video!
i have a teammate that was in the heat before him at junior olympics, he broke a record and it was pretty cool. he has AWESOME potential
At 11 I used to run the race with my arm tucked in and my eyes closed to just barely hit a 8:00 mile 😂 good old days
You can go pro Quinten! Go brother!
go Quintin you have got this
Man I wish I could have seen you, I usually go to this stadium but didn't go the week you did
Bro why tf did the adults not give him the inside lane?
he should have gotten into lane one
Have you retired? Haven't see one in a while and was anxious to hear how the two workout a day running was going. I can't believe you broke four minutes without running twice a day. I'm older than you by a lot, but growing up I remember all my heroes like Jim Ryun and John Walker always ran two a days. Hope all is well, Dan
The Georgie x Bigfoot content is amazing
Wow..
He's like every person in the comments who claimed to run sub 5 when they were 11, but he actually did it.
I didn’t get the Bigfoot thing but God bless you guys 😅
I’m 11 and can run a 4:45 mile… is that good?
keith larping rn
Nah
Speed up bozo
Come on Spencer we all need more content!
^
He’s a legend!
Ahh this lil mupput. He is so sweet and obviously insanely talented. I hope his parents can put his health, mental as well as physical above their desires for him. I wish the lil guy all the best...
My 14 year old team mate got 4:43 on a meet on Sunday!
I bet he goes 4:43 if it's less crowded.
Jesus christ. It didn't take me up until 20 years old before I broke 5 in the mile. The kid is going places
That still solid time for 20 years old but wouldn't be impressive for 21-35 years old
I have the same exact running shoes as you 😀😀
how’s the kid doing spence?
Well done. My 7th -12th grade mile PR times were 5:20, 4:56, 4:36, 4:24, 4:10 and 4:08 (the last being a true mile at Golden West). I went to a school that didn't even have a surfaced track, though my coaching and intensity was atypical. What is amazing is those times will sit on a wall for 20 years as untouchable and then some kid will look at them and decide it's his mission to beat them. It's always impressive to see the next generation take those records further.
Cool kid!
homie go in lane one 💀
why did spencer stop uploading?
he ran in lane 2 the whole race so he has to run an extra 25ish meters
how much does this kid train per week?
Quenton ran approx 30 mpw at the peak of his season this year. He runs 4-5days/wk. Usually 2 workout days + a long run as a family on Sundays.
Inappropriate comment of the day by Allie: "Come on Quentin, you got a 69 in ya!"
FUN FACT: Quenton is a twin. Pretty sure that's his twin sister Caitlin seen cheering him on from the infield. She is also a good runner.
Bigfoot baby.
W 💪🏾😭🏅
Me over here struggling to run sub 4:30 as a senior in highschool lmao
You know there's 9 year olds in Kenya running the mile in under 3 minutes.
crazy and this track is 5 min from my house
Is this in the Shoreline area or West Seattle?
@@timlofton6595 shoreline area about 20 min north from downtown seattle
@@panther5170 Figured it was one of the two, as those seemed to be the only places for open meets up there. Used to live in Marysville.
HES 11 he’s got a huge future ahead of him
Yeah I gotta step my game up, can leg an 11 year old be faster than me
I wish I were that athletic at that age. Lol!
i did my track there
Bigfoot ate my dingo!
Hope I could somehow race him one day 🤷🏾♂️ Maybe in college but we not in the same grade so who knows 🤷🏾♂️
I know him, I know what country, state, city, and school he goes to.
I should've been a runner.
If the kid didn't get so boxed in I really think he could have done it.
Rather random, but we had a 13 year old girl who ran 2.06 for 800, and i think about 4.30 1500, won loads of national x country and road titles but left the sport within a few years, who knows what she may have achieved,
Wow! My mile time at 13 is 4:49
Damn, I’m 13 as well and my time is 7:20 😂
I looked up who's the fastest kid in the world . he goes by the nick name blaze . His real name is Rudolphh and they say he is even faster then other people I saw one of his videos and he was so fast. Usain bolt has been watching his videos and I think that blazer can race hm. you should look up fastest 8 year old on earth or Rudolph blaze fast kid
Last name?
Quenton Lanese
Lanese
I live in Seattle and I’m eleven. I got 6:28 I thought that was good.
For 11 that’s great!
This kid is almost as fast as me and I'm 7 years older smh
Cute kid.
first!
Bro it’s lanese not lenesee I would know I’m his friend
honestly I am not impressed, I'll tell you why:
My best shape of my life was when I was 10-14 years of age. I could do up to 30 pull ups by age 10, I would rollerblade 20-40 miles a day like its fun, run 6 and a half minute mile etc. All this without ever being in any sports team or having training
By age 20 I had a hard time getting up some steps...
I remember several other kids in similar situation: they were profound athletes when they were young but as they got older it all disappeared
Xd
As impressive as this run is, it is important to realize that without adult competition he would have had to run the entire race by himself. This would have slowed his time down significantly likely over 4:50, still very impressive
He ran a solo 4:47 in a middle school race a few weeks before this at the Portland Track Festival.
In run this in 3:30 I'm 11 years old
Whoever was talking during the race had such an annoying voice I turned my sound all the way down because of it.
Then become a bust
Wonderful aerobic ability and pacing for his age. When he grows taller, he should be able to sharpen his form. As he is, he's a big talent.
“Pretty happy”
He coulda ran 4:43 if y’all woulda had him hug the rail
even faster each lap he was running in the second lane which I believe adds 12m per lap
ok im here from the future and this man has all the world records.
I was also 11 last year but run for westpoint!!! We both live in Utah… I bet we will be each other in the mile… guess I have tough competition!!!!!!
the lack of bigfoot merch is honestly disturbing at this point
Big foot baby 🦶
Given that he was running in lane 2 most of the way, he DID break the WR - just wasn’t official. Distance round the track in Lane 2 is 407.67m so he would have run way under the WR if those fatheads had given him space.
Seriously, what’s with those older runners? Didn’t they know the kid was attempting something big? Couldn’t THEY have moved out instead of forcing him to?
Insane! I didn’t hit 4:45 in the mile till I was 16. This kids going to be something if he puts in work. Lmao he should go to Newbury Park and run because the Young family was insane at Newbury Park.
Definitely special. My fastest mile PR as an adult is 5:22 which is pretty good for normal people but its hard to imagine a child finish half a lap faster than me being 6ft,165 in my best condition with hardly any body fat. Some people are just gifted
Great work can't wait for the fact that as time goes on his kick is going to get better and better
Could not believe the amount of runners on the track! He spent most of the race 2-wide & boxed-in, so may have been able to do it if given a better run.
Wow, I remember at my middle school, the mile record was 5:45 (set by a kid in our class) - all the school records for various events were on a board in the hallway.. that would be about this kid's age..
Hi Special and his friends🤗👋!!!Thanks for Ari 👉💣
pretty cool all around, good job
My friend is the fastest 13 year old in the UK, he recently got the 12 year old 1500m world record. I can't remember his exact time but it was around 4:08 - 4:12.
What’s his name cause I’m smelling legit cap
@@sportsfan9991 his name is jake meyburgh... which is me and hi raph 👋
@@jakemeyburgh4195 damn i searched you up and its legit imperssive as hell good running!
@@TheWindAthletics 🙂thanks
@@jakemeyburgh4195 Hi Jake
holy crap
Bro a 12 year old last year at the meet got 4:46
BTW Spencer, Are you now transitioning from your 3 weeks of Ingebrigsten Training to Jake Wightman Training?
Quenton just ran a 4:35 mile to get the 12 year old world record. Keep it up, young man!
Yeah, it was a crazy race… pacer pushing him on at the end gave me chills!
So he has the 4.35.. great work. My son raced his 1st ever mile race 1month ago and he is 12 and got a 4.37 looked up the record and saw a 4.35 WR great job👏👏. My son mainly runs 1500m here in australia but there are acouple of mile meets through the year so he may get a crack at it again
Bro I’m 13 and I run a 4:56 and 4:45 is crazy fast I can’t wait to see him keep improving and prolly win the Olympic Gold one day.
BRO HOW
sheesh, this kids got a bright future....
I know people saying they won’t give him the inside lane but he had. 1 for a while and that’s how it is if you control lane 1 you control the race
