For taxation of trusts, the following is the income computation (the below is oversimplified) 1. Revenue less operating expenditure 2. Above amount less 15% 3. Any amount utilised for the purposes of trust must be deducted for computation of income So, BCCI basically does tax planning to carefully utilise it's income towards IPL, World Cup etc. as it is for the purposes of cricket. This is why they are not paying any tax or paying very less tax.

If we assume that they are levied a tax of 30%. Then they will be supposed to pay 2.4 billion $ to the government. When compared to 540 billion of the budget, 2.4 billion is nothing (although that number is actually very big)

I don't think they should pay taxes 🤔. Bcci started in 1928 when there was no money in cricket, even in 1983 they were poor there was no money. Now that they have money government wants it's share. Amendment stated that if the gross receipts out of business (Selling franchisee) exceeds 20% of total receipts then it shall not be considered as general purpose utility. But BCCI smartly claims that business is ancillary and the receipts of the same are used for charitable Purposes (promotion of sport in India) Though legally it's fair. Nevertheless an amazing case study!

I think as the rule suggested that charitable org shud use the money in some good palce or promote crciket in this case... BCCI should definitely pay tax. It’s rightly contributing to entertainment industry at a huge scale. If BCCI pay tax then petrol , mustard oil prices can go down. the biggest question is is tax are spend wisely or not. If taxes are used in wrecking someone's buliding or i can say wastage of money. Does it matter who pay tax or not.

I think as the rule suggested that charitable org shud use the money in some good palce or promote crciket in this case... Then there shud be compulsion for BCCI to use\develope criket at grass root level in each state... like to start there shud be 2-3 grounds in state of BCCI where locals can play cricket at less expense...there shud b BCCI sponsored cups at school level and city level... Also BCCI shud support and promote the same for other sports also... and all these deveopment shud be monitored by gov same like common man shows investment proof to save tax...
Problem: bcci makes lots of money. This money also goes to icc. icc gives those money to pakistani cricket board and then the money goes to jihadi, afridi type of players who spew venom against India.

1. It's tax.. govt Not asking shares. So pay it. Govt also work for people with providing them basic facilities, infrastructure, security etc. so they also need money to run the show.
2. In any business, TAX is large part considered for all operations. So if BCCI pays tax,they will work on more invitations in order to have More profit to compensate the tax paid.

I think there should be an improvisation in that law...stating Organizations which are creating profit more than 25 crore upto 50 cr should be liable to 30% as tax .. 50 cr to 100 cr..40%
And more than 100cr 50% tax
BCCI should definitely pay tax. It’s rightly contributing to entertainment industry at a huge scale. Any person earning above 5 Lakh rupees is paying tax, even if that person is in entertainment industry. Thank you for choosing such an awareness spreading topic. For Certain % of their surplus their should be a provision where by they must mandatorily invest in infrastructure and development of other sports as well. This will help athletes from other sports to grow, I think at least this should be done if they aren't paying taxes.
