My first ever WRC round as a spectator (and also for my father) 2002 Deutschland Rallye. St. Wendel Super Special Stage. Theres a final coner a 90 degree right Colin was doing it absolutely drifting. I remember me and our friand and my father go wild and he does it 2 more times same as the first (the superspecial was three laps) and we just humming that is impossible. Maybe a year or two later we watching the television at home the WRC news on Eurosport and it begins with Colin drifting in that corner. I will always remember for that.
P.S and becouse of those celebration donuts we int the family calling this Mcraeing :D

It gets me every time I watch it. Its hard to imagine that it was actually the last tight corner between him and a world championship title and he had the bravery and confidence to attack it like that. Just shows the level he was on that weekend.
On his day, he was the best that there ever has been.

I had graduated High School in 2004 but i remember watching WRC on Speed Channel in USA back in the early 2000's.
My favorite Colin McRae memory was during his in the Peugeot days. When he had spun a 360 donut mid tight hairpin corner in front of the giant crowd gathered and they absolutely went wild for the feat of rally car mastery. What an absolute legend! The good die young. R.I.P. Colin and the McRae family!

Colin McRae is without one of bests driver in wrc history
His flat out was outstanding, his crashes were ridiculously incredible and his skill was uncanny
He raced against some of the wrc heavy weights such as Juha Kankkunen, Marcus Gronholm, Tommi Makinen, the late Richard Burns, Sebastian Loab, Peter Solberg and of corse el matador himself Carlos Sainz and Colin beat them all
F1s greatest and also the greatest of all time is Michael Schumacher
MotoGPs greatest and also the greatest motorcycle rider is Valentino Rossi
And the WRCs greatest and the greatest rally driver is Sebastian Loeb but Colin McRae comes close
That's how highly I rate Colin because like the great Schumacher and Rossi Colin was a man who never gave up and would win in/on anytype of machine and also faced a huge amount of competition and beat them all
    RIP Colin

There are those who valued consistency to win titles. They were quick, yes, but they knew how to throttle back and take 2nd or 3rd place when the pace wasn't there. Then, you have guys like Vatanen and McRae who only knew how to drive balls to the wall, whether they were in the lead or in last place. Some could argue it's their high propensity of risk taking that prevented them from winning more titles. But no one could deny that these were the guys that brought the entertainment, and that captured the imagination of most people because their style was impossible to not be exciting.

Rally sport fans...Another level of fan!
( The WRC screams through the forests where l live in Poland, it would be just as exciting 26 years later if a British driver took those stages, and was presented in Mikołajki Square, with the Cup, and then shook the hand of the only British resident living there!
The Polish are very, very, very good drivers, less than 100kph around here.....And you're just not driving hard enough. ( No barriers too, those trees, just don't move).

Imagine calling Fuji Heavy Industries, AKA Subaru, a "little car company." They've built fighter jets.
Has Lancia built anything capable of Mach 2? Has Ford? No?

There has never been and I don't think there will ever be a rally driver like Colin mcrae, his style was absolutely flat out or nothing, his DNA simply wouldn't allow him to drive any other way,the footage of his bosses jumping in front of his speeding scuby to try and slow him down and colin almost running them down is without doubt amongst the most infamous footage in wrc history
