Sir, I would like to know your opinion on this: Over surveillance, media censorship, lack of respect of sovereignty of neighbouring countries, lack of liberal democracy, etc. are surely valid criticisms of china. But I think showing the pov of ccp is also nescessary. Ccp has achieved some of the most unbelievable things, like higher rate of development than any country in history, nearly 100% literacy, pulling 800 million people out of poverty in just 40 yrs, helping friendly nations in africa and south america to develop and evolving itself from a country of uneducated peasants to a Superpower in just a few decades. According to a study by Harvard nearly 95% of chinese population are satisfied with their govt.’s work. And calling china “a capitalist country under a communist govt.” is a bit incorrect. Of course it has privated enterprises but the economy and all the major companies are highly regulated by the govt., it’s definitely not a free market. So pulling off a scam like Adani or Nirav Modi is far more difficult in china.
Over all I want to conclude this by asking: Can we trade free-food for free-speech?
It's simple: no amount of food and wealth would come before my freedom and privacy. And most of these countries became rich and developed either due to plundering of colonies like France, UK, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, etc., due to low populations like Scandinavian nations, or due to dictatorship or monarchy like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, China.(the developed Asian nations today). Most of these Asian nations were even poorer than India back in the 1950s, but now they are completely opposite of what they were before. They became rich and developed under cruel dictatorships, like Taiwan under Chiang Kai-shek, South Korea under Lee Syngman, Park Chung-hee, Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew, China under Deng Xiaoping etc. because they didn't care about people's freedoms then, rather how can they feed people, give them shelter, give them jobs, educate their children etc. Then as over the years, their people became richer and richer, then they gradually earned their freedoms and transitioned into proper functioning democracies with the exception of China(due to their ideology), and Singapore(still authoritarian today) to some extent.

Truth is companies don't give a fk about democracy or not, it is a misconception that companies prefer "democracy". China has been a dictatorship since day one, still companies started coming in China from the 80s itself, even if China committed the Tiananmen Massacre, they didn't give two cents to that and their investment made China the rich country it is today. As long as good infrastructure, low cost of labour, good logistics and tax reduction is there, companies will invest, doesn't matter the country is a democracy or not.
