I'm so happy someone finally reacted to some Joan Armatrading (pronounced Jone, not Joanne) she's got great vocal range, hell of a songwriter and guitarist. She's been releasing music for more than 40 years, STILL putting out quality music. Try listening to her song 'Drop the Pilot' next, it's more upbeat: th-cam.com/video/_rIOQBc1ee0/w-d-xo.html
Omg. When I was a teenager in the 80's Joan was my dad's absolute favourite. An rare example of a female black British singer song writer who plays rock. She's amazing
I saw her live in the late seventies. A real talent, and a personality that was reserved but foreceful. She broke a string, laughed it off with the audience, and carried on like a trouper. The production on the studio version of this track was amazing - I've still never heard anyone do the same trick of painting vocals like that on the canvas of the bass voice.
There's a line in her song "willow" when she sings they line second verse when she says she's "strong" speaking on being there for someone where her voice breaks from weakness that speaks volumes. We've felt that assuring we'll be there for someone even if we're falling apart. 😢. Love this human so much.
Joan is one of the best song writers of the last fifty years, check out her catalogue. Brilliant and this from a 49 year old white male. She is pure class.
love how respectfully you listen - so many people are too in love with the sound of their own voices to even hear the music they're supposed to be reacting to. you look so blissed out! loving it and this song!
In 1976 I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Solomon Islands. No radio stations. But once a week current songs from the West were rebroadcast via New Zealand, for maybe 15 minutes. This song knocked me out. Never heard of this phenomenal singer. Immediately I telegrammed my family to purchase and send from the USA, this cd. (No WiFi in those days) As I rarely made requests, they complied. About 3 weeks later, a treasure arrived 😊.
Man!! What a blast from the past! I was a senior in high school in 1976 and was lucky to grow up in an era with such diverse music to be exposed to. Thanks to whoever suggested this one.
Gorgeous singer and an excellent songwriter. Her song "Me, Myself, I" was one of the things that got me through some dangerously dark depressions as a teenager in the '80s.
One of the best opening lines ever written. She still has a hell of a voice. I must of have listened to the album this was on a couple of hundred times on a physical record. I wish she still wore her hair natural.
Joan has dedicated fans who travel around to world to her concerts. I saw her in NY then saw her again in Vegas 30 years later. I drove across country twice listening to Joan and Blues. Joan led the way for a lot of singers. She has that delay on a beat which throws me off every time. I am happy my daughters turned into serious Armatrading fans also.
Joan is an extremely talented lady with a fantastic voice. I have some of her albums but her greatest hits is one I play all the time. Has some beautiful songs on it,
Knew you'd like it! And her, so glad you picked up mine or someone else's suggestion. Willow, Down To Zero and, for an 80s Joan vibe, Drop The Pilot are other great songs of hers.
Loved her music & was lucky enough to have TWO good stations that played her, starting in about 1977. I got to see her in about 82. At one point she wanted everybody to get up and dance but it was a theater venue and they wouldn't let us.
You are the only reaction channel I subscribe to, and this is why. Joan Armatrading is such an incredible songwriter, singer, and guitar player. This is still on my playlist every week because it never gets old. If you haven't done "The Weakness In Me" I highly recommend it.
Finally got to Armatrading, eh? Yeah, she's a closet favorite of mine and that song's one of her signature tunes as well. Diggin' this channel more and more with each reaction, keep 'em coming! ;-)
Joan's so cool. Try 'The Weakness in Me'. I got into with her album Walk Under Ladders when it came out. Great album. Try the first track called 'I'm Lucky' , as well as the one I mentioned. It features Thomas Dolby, known for 'She Blinded Me with Science'. Which is also a good song to check out. btw, it's Joan not Joann.
Have seen Joan 3 or 4 times, back in the 70's, she is still one of my favourite female artists, note I say artist, not singer as she is far more than a singer, she writes her own songs, her delivery is hard to match, love her
Joan is a beautiful person with a beautiful voice, striped back and pure. This song is timeless just gorgeous. Can't believe people don't like this song - where's your taste at?
Now if I can feel the sun in my eyes, and the rain on my face. Why cant I feelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll......................................loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Joan Armatrading is amazing. Check out the songs Show Some Emotion, Willow, Tall in the Saddle and Down to Zero too. Bettye LaVette’s version of Down to Zero is also great. Armatrading is British, and she was never as well known in the US. But people who seek out and know good music eventually find her. Before there was Tracy Chapman there was Joan Armatrading. By the way I think her name is pronounced Jone like Joan Rivers, not Jo-Anne... No biggie, just passing it along
She was a big star. I saw her in London in about 1980. Do listen to more of her songs. The Weakness In Me is just fantastic - the album version is best
Why did I just find this now? Late to the party again, lolll. To get a taste of Joan giving life to electric blues guitar, try "A Woman in Love". She was never respected in the USA, which I thought was tragic! Thank you for your lovely reaction, and a happy, healthy & safe New Year ✌
I love that you have done this song it's one of my most favourite songs ever ever EVER. You should listen to another of her songs called Me Myself I, it is more of a rocking vibe with really powerful lyrics . I love your reaction channel :)
Anyone else notice that when Joan sings live her necklace always ends up looking like its throttling her? Gets pushed away. Love this woman. True talent. Brilliant songwriter & musician/singer. ✌🇬🇧
I wore out probably 5-6 vinyl albums when I heard this ) Album is called Joan Armitrading). She is insanely underrated, but has a solid “underground” following. Every song on this album is brilliant!!
I love Willow and Me, Myself I...I spoke to her on the telephone years ago. I didn't know it was her, all she said was she was Joan, calling to wish a lass we had living with us, happy birthday. It wasn't till the next day her cousin told her Joan Armatrading had called repeatedly as a treat. She was a good friend of my friends cousin, she was gutted to miss her. She sounded very nice, quiet a bit shy..
Seen her twice. The Orpheum in Memphis, then on the Pier, NYC. Fabulous. "Like Fire" is, to me, her very best song. From the album "Joan Armatrading". 'When you're around me, it's like the sun up above. You may be foolin', but I'm deep in love. Let's stay together. That's how it should be. I'll only leave if you leave me."
Many have not heard of Joan...but she's been around for many years & she is truly a legendary performer. I have never bought a Joan LP that I didn't like. She's intense, she's beautiful, she's melodic & superbly Joan Armatrading every time. This was an early song her classic "Willow" is to be experienced. Check "Willow" (HD) @ Rockpalast. She also predates Tracy Chapman with that vocal style. Joan has dozens of great songs & most importantly she's respected by many musicians & devoted fans.
I’m an old punk. I love the Clash and the Damned. But I also love Joan Armatrading.
I am not in love, but I’m open to persuasion is still the best opening line from any song ever
I was going to make some comment or other , but now i dont need to!
I'm so happy someone finally reacted to some Joan Armatrading (pronounced Jone, not Joanne) she's got great vocal range, hell of a songwriter and guitarist. She's been releasing music for more than 40 years, STILL putting out quality music.

I'm so happy you played that song. It is a perfectly constructed piece of art, with the voice and music. More of Joan Armtrading please
Every time I hear this song, the greater it gets. It is a deceptively brilliant performance.
I love this song so much. Glad you're listening

Rob Robertson I was a Sr in 76 too. This brings me back! I still listen to Joan in my car😂
Gorgeous singer and an excellent songwriter. Her song "Me, Myself, I" was one of the things that got me through some dangerously dark depressions as a teenager in the '80s.
She didn't get near enough recognition.Love het
I think she is getting me through some dark times now..
@@JoJo-hl4tz Soothe our frazzled nerves , Joan ...
track record on a walkman kept me off the bridge
Down to Zero is another GREAT song by Joan Armatrading.
spot on.........................
My favourite.
Ahhhhhh yes !! The best :)
Love her! Please do more!
down to zero is my absolute favourite :)
Joan Armatrading and Tracy Chapman....THEE 2 most under-rated singer songwriters EVER!!
Oh, you're not wrong there.. Now I'll go watch the Fast Cars video.. Thanks Gary..
I adore Joan armatrading her voice just soothes my soul she’s my go to when I need some calm from the storms of life xxx
Born to be a singer /songwriter /musician. It was her calling in life. Beautiful stuff 💚🙏
One of the best opening lines ever written. She still has a hell of a voice. I must of have listened to the album this was on a couple of hundred times on a physical record. I wish she still wore her hair natural.
Im proud of you I've been a sub since the beginning you have evolved into one of the best and most diverse music and reaction channels on YT
Stunningly beautiful song. An all time favourite and great British artist. ❤️❤️❤️
Britain’s finest singer/songwriter. A great pioneer but never alone.
I saw her recently in concert and she is still fantastic. A classy performer.
Joan is an extremely talented lady with a fantastic voice. I have some of her albums but her greatest hits is one I play all the time. Has some beautiful songs on it,
Wonderful reaction. This woman sang the playlist of my youth. I listened to her every day for 20 years. Love!
I was 18 when I first heard Joan Armatrading - she is brilliant.
Thank you, India. Joan was one of my favorites in the 70's.
Knew you'd like it! And her, so glad you picked up mine or someone else's suggestion. Willow, Down To Zero and, for an 80s Joan vibe, Drop The Pilot are other great songs of hers.
Oh I love Joan! She's been a favorite of mine since the 70's.
13 yrs old hearing this on my bedside digital clock radio ~
You must mean on ur Alexa smart speaker !
I grew-up in the 70's Glasgow, listening to Joan, one of the best artists of her time
Loved her music & was lucky enough to have TWO good stations that played her, starting in about 1977. I got to see her in about 82. At one point she wanted everybody to get up and dance but it was a theater venue and they wouldn't let us.

God I loved Joan, so honest, so raw. Thanks for the memory, now I have to listen to that album again

I never heard of this song but love this very smooth easy listening music. I do like switching of the voice. Would love to hear more of this singer.
Now if I can feel the sun in my eyes, and the rain on my face. Why cant I feelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll......................................loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I didn't realise you reacted to Joan Armatrading all this time ago. Fantastic song.
she was a very special artist to all of us growing up wayyyyyyyy back in the 70's. She influenced Tracy Chapman a TON.
And your life is forever changed for having heard Joan for the first time
LOVE me some Joan Armatrading!!
Joan was/is a true musical artist, and your beautiful reaction to this number brought tears to my eyes......
This might be my favorite Joan cut. Thanks for the reaction 👍🏾

Joan, Joan, JOAN. Always loved her. Wonderful. Thank you for listening.
Fantastic musician and song writer. Seen her in concert 5 times, the last time was her one woman show
She was a big star. I saw her in London in about 1980. Do listen to more of her songs. The Weakness In Me is just fantastic - the album version is best

Love Joan A. Been listening to her since the seventies!
I love that you have done this song it's one of my most favourite songs ever ever EVER. You should listen to another of her songs called Me Myself I, it is more of a rocking vibe with really powerful lyrics . I love your reaction channel :)
A Legend - a Wonderfully Talented Artist with a style and sound all her own.
I've heard her name, but I've never heard her perform. She's pretty great! Love the soulful voice paired with an acoustic guitar.
Do find more of her you won't be sorry
One of my favourite songs ever!
Anyone else notice that when Joan sings live her necklace always ends up looking like its throttling her? Gets pushed away. Love this woman. True talent. Brilliant songwriter & musician/singer. ✌🇬🇧
Love Joan armatrading personal preference ( Willow & The Weakness In Me ) x
I’ve always loved this song.
What a classic! Brilliant Joan!
Her best song by far . Many a songwriter wish they could write something like this .
I saw Joan in London in about 1980. At that time she was a really big star and so she should have been.
this is why so many say the 70s was truly the best decade for music
Yay for you to learn about some of the best artists
I wore out probably 5-6 vinyl albums when I heard this ) Album is called Joan Armitrading). She is insanely underrated, but has a solid “underground” following.
Every song on this album is brilliant!!
