- 👋 After a few days owning our new 2024 Audi RS3, how does it compare to our 2016 Audi S3? Nearly two years ago we ordered the new 8Y Audi RS3 and at the same time bought a very nice Riviera Blue 2016 Audi S3 to hold us over while we waited. The S3 was an even trade from my wife's Lexus IS300 and we have really enjoyed the fun driving characteristics while we've owned the S3! Driving the 8V S3 back to back with our new 8Y RS3 is certainly a big difference! As expected the RS3 is better in nearly every way. Which makes sense for nearly twice the price! While we are still running in our brand new car, you can tell there is a whole lot of performance from that 5 cylinder RS3! It has a lot of power ready to push me back into the seat! The engine sounds really cool even under low acceleration and stock exhaust. I love the updated seats with Nappa leather, they cradle me much more. I will say I'm not sold on the progressive steering in the RS3. It doesn't seem to inspire a ton of confidence just yet. So I need to feel it out more and maybe adjust the mode. Also the steering wheel feels pretty big. I love the little flat bottom wheel in the S3 since it's the same wheel in my Lamborghini Gallardo. So those two aspects with the new RS3 I'm not a fan of yet. But as a whole I really like how much more refined the new RS3 feels, better materials and better tech. Power is plentiful and its a much more aggressive car! With that said the 8V S3 has been great and is a very fun and affordable car! We'll be selling it towards the end of the year and are excited to put more miles on the RS3! I really like the slightly noisy transmission in slow speeds. Reminds me of my GTR that I sold to buy the Lamborghini and I think our new 2024 RS3 will do a god job filling the void from the GTR and give us a super fast car! All while still being our practical car with modern technology and creature comforts!

I am more of a BMW fan boy when it comes to performance, but you can't deny the fact that Audi always nails their design. Looking forward to owning one some day.

You're right about the steering..It seems to over steer when pushing a little. A weird feeling. I was a little concerned but now having mine for 6 weeks and pushing harder its not so apparent at 9/10ths. Looking forward to mods from down under. Cheers!
Yeah hopefully we just get used to the feeling. So different from the S3 and Supra. Don't think I notice much difference in Sport, Balanced or normal steering mode. Fun car tho!
to add to.the commentary for your viewers the previous gen rs3 made 7 horsepower, and 15 lb-ft of torque less than the current gen rs3

Some people in reviews say the interior quality is a big step down in the new RS3 compared to old gen! It seems you are quite pleased with it which is reassuring since i trust your opinion!
I’d say it feels nicer. The dash feels a bit cheap. But the leather, carbon and alcantara really make it much nicer then our s3. It’s much more refined feeling while driving. Just wish the dash had leather too. When I drove a 2023 A3, I felt like that felt cheaper then our s3. But 2024 RS3 at least seems like a step up
The new one looks upgraded to me. No barfing allowed in the car though!

So I sold my Golf R last year. An S3/RS3 was in the works.
What to do ...
The RS3 is a beast and my guess is that it will hold its value very well, especially since this might be the last one. Lots of Lambo inspiration in this one
RS3 is a cool option! Brand new and waiting seemed to be the most cost effective route. A pre owned 8Y goes for way more then sticker. And a nice 8V would have been about what we paid for this. So I'd say order a new RS3 or get a used S3. We'll be selling our S3 after Christmas

I hear good things about Nappa Leather. Although BMW has used Merino Leather on some of it's high end models.
Yeah Ive always like Nappa. Same leather in the Lamborghinis and it seems to hold up very well over time! BMW Merino leather is nice too, but I think Audis looks better years down the road. When I worked at a dealership, the old Audis leather always still looked brand new. The BMW's looked a bit old

@BrosFOURRSpeed I was told approximately 18 months wait for my RS3 when I ordered early October in 2022! Long wait, but I was in no rush whatsoever lol

I liked it for 2024 since its red trim. But we didn't want the alcantara steering wheel. Not a fan of them since they get all matted looking. I would have done it if I could opt out of the wheel
Just want to point out that it is still a transverse/Haldex car. That means it will never be "rear biased". It's simply not possible with how these cars are designed. Up to 50% can be sent to the rear and that's it. Of THAT 50%, the "drift mode" can send 100% of that to one wheel, thanks to the new torque vectoring rear diff. Same diff found in the Mk8 Golf R.
Yeah it's still front wheel drive biased. However you'd think more then 50% would go to the rear in the rear drive mode
Everything you said was correct, except for that it’s not a Haldex system, like a ‘19 Golf R, at least according to one of the Audi engineers during their fancy presentation. 😊
One difference between these two cars is that the RS3 5 cylinder has dual port injection. That to me is a huge plus and worth the extra$.

The interior/dash design is so mehh (own a 2015 A3 lol ) about time they refreshed it!
I still like the simple design on the 8V. Not 100% sold on the air vents for the driver on the new car. They look a bit cheap. But overall it’s definitely a nicer interior
I have a 21 type r... I looking to upgrade in a year or 2 ND looking into either new fl5 or the audi rs3... Def thinking I need an audi
RS3 is a big step up for sure! Definitely a fun car. But the Type R is a blast especially with the manual

I'm sure at some point I could get a cool aftermarket one thats smaller

S3 and RS3 are the same car. The RS3 in the video is the new generation tho vs or S3. So it's slightly larger. But the 5 series is a bigger car with the sportback too for more space.

Automatics are for the lazy or disabled folks. Get a true driver’s car. Six speed manual or no go.
Interesting perspective, especially on a car that doesn’t offer a manual at all.
Buy what you enjoy and let people do the same. I have a manual Supra to enjoy just as much as my Audi..
