I did want Fall Damage, but I’m honestly not that bothered. I can see the point he made about wanting to instantly jump into a fight. Also, if you’re trying to make Spider-Man die by throwing yourself off a skyscraper, you’re probably playing the wrong game.

Alot of his point for taking away features is because he wants it to feels as much as a super hero game as possible. I think thats not exactly a good thing. In my eyes, the reason that Spider-man is a lovable character is because hes the most relatable because hes more human than most heroes. He does screw up, he does fail, but he always analyzes where he fails and learns from it and overcome the challenge he has. Fall damage, and ripped costumes would help this idea. The idea of a older Spiderman isnt a bad idea, but if u make him too invincible and too experience, you weaken the character and lessen the Spiderman experience.
Fall damage is 100% useless cause it's impossible to die by fall damage. On accident.
In Spider-Man 2 if you built up enough momentum you could do a loop. If this game truly uses a physics based web swinging system then you should be able to do that.

Amen. It’s a mechanic from 2 consoles ago and we don’t have it in our 2018 game?! Why ? I always say swinging should have a thrill and being a pendulum capable of spinning around in air is thrilling .
Something that I'm seeing is that a small thing like that seems to be a dealbreaker for a lot of people even though it's a detail that likely won't matter as this could possibly still be the best Spider-Man game ever.
If ya can't do a proper loop that could only mean a couple things. Either their supposed physics based swinging system doesn't factor in momentum or at some point in the pendulum the game won't allow you to go any further regardless of your speed or you're forced to let go of your web line. If this system is supposed to be the best version of web swinging it should have all the best features of previous games and when Spider-Man 2 on the PS2 had the best overall web swinging this game should allow you to do everything from that game and more. I'm not saying it's a deal breaker but I just wanna be able to finally say that a new Spider-Man game made a better web swinging system than a game that's over a decade old.

It would be cool to see an online connection where you can challenge your friends. Sort of like Just Cause 3 how you could do certain challenges and compete against your friends. Maybe like who can swing in the air for the longest or so. And it can be accessed through your mobile phone. (Not multiplayer).

I think the combination would look VERY sharp. also I love how you can change weather and time of day after the story. it works well

No fall damage oh nooooo! Who cares? It doesn't add weight or skill in the game. I can jump off the empire state building in Spidey 2 and a second or two before splat city BAM!!!!!!! HERE COMES THE R2 BUTTON, BABYYYYY!! Easy. You do not die from fall damage in Spiderman on ACCIDENT unless you literally don't know how a controller works. As for realism, it doesnt add much of any "realism" especially considering YOU AIN'T GUNNA DIE FROM FALL DAMAGE!!!

I agree mostly but I would like Peter Parker free roam. At least after the main story is complete. I’d enjoy that. I’d like it to be just like if you were using any other suit but it’s Peter Parker instead. Thing is, the ESU and Undies suit are about the same as Peter Parker just with a mask. Technically his identity is still unknown, but no citizen in game acknowledges how weird it is how Spider-Man is just half naked. I would’ve rather had Peter as the 100% completion suit.
I live in Manhattan and there's a reason why spider man is in Manhattan not New York in general i just look out my window and almost every building is huge if he went to Brooklyn yeah there's some tall buildings but most of them are relatively short and when he web swings he would be so close to the ground and definitely hit somebody

People complaining that venom isnt in the game lol but its their first spider-man game they cant fit everyone in. Plus he didnt confirm or deny the black suit so its a possibility venom will come along in future games.
at first i was so skeptical because of how many times i was burned by just alright attempts at spiderman but the insomniac team seems genuinely excited and creative at their take and now im hype
i think the rolling animation without fall damage sounds fine for really small buildings, but if im falling from a towering construction tower and i just roll it out like no impact happened that seems baffling

For anyone who says fall damage shouldn’t be in the game. Fall damage adds danger to swinging and creates an extra reason to get better. If there’s no consequence to swinging then it’s just a flashy way to get around. It’s far more satisfying knowing that you’re defying death by being good at swinging because it adds more thrill. This is partially why web swinging in Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man was good. There’s nothing like the feeling of falling to your death and then shooting out a web line at the last second to save yourself.
Yeah, my excitement for this game has gone down significantly with this video and him saying no to every cool thing we actually want. I'm now not so sure about this game anymore and his explanation for the fall damage also concerns me. He's looking out for the people who are bad at the game and don't want to take the time to get better so they can just keep falling over and over with no damage. I have never enjoyed a game where the developers seek to make it as easy as possible for crappy gamers. It never works out well imo. Challenge is the #1 thing that makes games fun.
Fall damage isn't a big deal due to the fact that literally nobody hits the ground anyways unless they purposefully did so.
You could always just mash the swing button and never get hurt in previous games.
Noah Cg3 The point it that it adds extra incentive to want to stay in the air. Anyone could just rapidly tap the swing button, but if you’re able to do tricks in the air while under the constant free of death from a long fall then it pumps the adrenaline and creates a more real experience. I want this because it adds some small challenge to swinging. At the start I should have issues, but by the end of the game I should be a master at web swinging. It may be just a small detail to you, but those small details make a big difference in gameplay.

Noah Cg3 maybe not die, but if you’re careless you still lose a bit of health. That’s important considering we don’t know how health works yet. Are there pick-ups, does it regenerate automatically, or do we heal ourselves TASM 2 style? This is important because it could impact the next encounter with an enemy and add extra danger. I want extra immersion if possible and fall damage from great heights adds to that. Again swinging is far more entertaining when you have extra thrills and reasons to stay in the air. It’s not about unintentionally hitting the ground, but the added weight of you feeling like Spider-Man soaring through Manhattan in what is the most dangerous way a superhero can travel.
Why are people upset about fall damage? I really dont care if its there or not. Fall damage makes it realistic but also irritating to just die cause you fell. Also i really dont care about the demo. Day/night circle would be nice but im ok since rain is in. Reall all i want more from insomniac is a black suit and its perfect

Exactly. I like how they are going to use day/night and weather to set the tone of a level. I love that. And if I want to play at night and the game starts at day why would I want to wait?
Everything aside, I really love how upfront and honest this guy is about the game. He obviously doesn't want to spoil certain things, but other than that nearly every question he gets asked he answers objectively. Doesn't try to sleazily make it look better or different, or give overly ambiguous answers, he just tells you how it is, love it or hate it.

I understand that concern, but it's also pretty neat that they are doing this with the statue from a marketing standpoint. I can't wait to pre-order mine on Amazon.
I think what would be really cool is for there to be a trophy for climbing to the very top of the Empire State Building. Once at the top of the mast Spider-Man will shift through numerous heroic poses and make a joke about photo mode.

We have seen how agile, flexible and varied web slinging is in this game from the trailers. If player misses one swing and start falling they can shoot new web-line to gain altitude. Fall damage is very irritating. Remember all those irritating deaths in Uncharted 4 when we grappled to lower area thinking its safe but we died?

This may be a series. They may make them better as time progresses, similar to the way Batman's abilities and scale got larger by the end.

The things people are complaining about in the comment section... Web swinging should be the most important thing, that's what makes or breaks a Spiderman game, and by the sounds of it, it may be the best we have ever had. Other small things like certain Marvel buildings not being in the game, should not be that big of a deal.
I don’t understand. Doing a full loop while swinging shouldn’t be a feature, you should just be able to do it if you went fast enough into a swing from a dive bomb (if the swinging really is physics based). It’s almost like the game’s gonna stop spider-man if he goes too fast.
KingPinThe3rd I was thinking the same thing. Considering the elasticity of Spidey's webbing, paired with the speed you can gain from a free fall, a loop-the-loop should be possible

If I could pick one thing they have to include in this game it would be a new game plus mode. Every game I have that has new game plus I've completed multiple times. It adds so much replay value to a game.
We NEED a load of things to do in New York this game would be a lot better with more side quests and crime going on all over the city you can’t expect a success focusing just on story we need A Spider-Man world we want to continue to want to play the game

Noah Cg3 I get that ...but idk if you played GTA5 but when story moments happened at certain times they were able to adjust/speed up time in the world and we would just play the game at what ever time the Devs intended it to be....thatz what id like insomniac to consider

Huh? No fall damage. That gives Spiderman a less sense of weight and feels like the game has a permanent cheat code. No repercussions to your actions.

I love no fall damage. Besides spider man is too strong to have fall damage. And you feel like a bad ass falling that far down and landing. Almost like when Selene did it in underworld.

Man, probably you just shoot webs in near walls to slow your fall. I don't think Spider-Man will just fall of the Empire State and hit the ground like a feather.
if you threw a spider off of the empire state building and it fell all the way down and landed on the ground, it would die. thats why he needs his webs, to stop himself from dying, otherwise he would just jump off every building he could instead of web slinging down.
In the movies spiderman fell down lot of times. Didnt take damage.

Toby Basically someone on twitter asked the question and Insomniac replied saying they were more focused on finishing the game. This reply, while it doesn't say anything about a demo being released, it also didn't directly say that there wouldn't be a demo at all. Regardless if they release a demo or not, this game has my full support as I'm buying the collector's edition for the game.
But why would there be a demo? It'd be a financial mistake.
