I've read all his books, even when he was still alive. My mother knew that I would understand my roots living in Georgia just by reading and listening to Lewis. This missed man was a big part of me growing up and being proud of being a Southerner. Today, I still read his books and to see his work on this media just goes to show that everyone is curious about why we act the way we act. It's a southern thang, you just don't understand.
I'm a "Damned Yankee" but I always loved Lewis, his writing, and his humor. I read all his books, have some of his tapes, and still miss him as much as some of my personal friends. He was 9 months younger than me, so we had a shared Social History. Lewis was wonderful, even to a "Damn Yankee" like myself. I didn't always agree with him, but I ALWAYS LOVED HIM!
I once had this tape (played it on my radio) and this was my Favorite tape along with my Richard Pryor tapes. I bet him and Richard along with Bernie (& others) are up in heaven all kinds of things to talk about down here on earth.
unfortanutely, he passed when I was very young and I have only read a few of his books, but he is hilarious. Good clean family comedy that will leave you in stitches.
I heard of him in the mid 1980s just after I graduated outta high school. I heard him tell a joke about sand in your underdrawers and I just fell out! LOL.
Lewis was one of the best comedians that ever lived and he is sorely missed by this fan.

I loved him so much. He put so much joy in my life. I still grieve because he died.
Here in 2023 I still love this man and sure miss him❤
Thanks for posting this. Somewhere through the years my tapes of him were lost. It's really good to listen to this again! Lewis is truly missed.
This man is criminally underrated

I pure-dee loved that man.
god i remember reading the newnan times herald in georgia and seeing his column in the paper... even in the atlanta journal too! he speaks the truth!
Funny as it gets. I'm reading his books also. if you listen, and can't find a laugh someplace, that's on you.
Southerners also do not "get" Yankees, but even though we don't always agree on everything, we can still love each other.
I liked his column in the newspapers.
thats my uncle(:
He and I share a couple of grand nephews now days.
I remember listening to preachers on the radio screaming and hollering about how Elvis was leading all the young people straight to hell.
