I felt the conversation with Olivia was a key part of last night’s episode and a little disappointed that wasn’t discussed here. She came on and shone a light on how both the show and it’s fans can negatively impact on a contestants mental health. The level of criticism that she received (though some deserved) was vicious, so it’s no wonder she was nervous in her interview. Glad she’s doing better now.
I couldn't agree more! I think shining a light on how the show impacted Olivia's mental health acted as a continuation of the online bullying conversation that Rachel Lindsay led at the 'women tell all' a few months ago. People need to understand that these cast members are real people and the hateful online messages are extremely destructive.
She didn't "deserve" any of it. The producers asked her questions and highly encouraged her to do all the villainous things.

In Australia, legislation has been done where TV networks and/or production companies can be sued by people who took part on reality shows if they suffered severe moral damages from the way they were presented on those shows. The US should have such laws.

Olivia actually admits that the producers found the outfit for her and tried to push her to be sexy. She says she only thought about making it funny instead cause that’s more her.
Also the producers pushed her to get Ben over and over again secretly telling her hey Ben was looking for you or he’s asking about you.
I think she was nervous because of how negative the editing was and I think she was just worried because she wasn’t sure how they would edit her again and she was trying to purposely tone herself down to avoid and crazy edits.
I'll never forget the look on Jojos face after Ben said that.

I remember when Ben told them both that he loved each and I was as surprised as JoJo because in prior seasons, the lead was not able to tell any of them “I love you” until it was the final person. Watching Olivia standing there alone, I remember laughing and thinking, “are they seriously just going to leave her there?” 🤦🏻♀️😂

Georgina Phelan an edit conversation unfortunately. Really they had there talks he went on and gave her a compliment and she thanks him and wanted to tell him why she appreciated that comment so much. The producers edited that conversation

I thought having Olivia there to address how the villain edit affected her, and with Ben showed up for support are what makes this season worth re-airing. The way Lauren Zima making cringe face the whole time when Olivia footage shown is so annoying. Olivia represents people who were unfairly edited by the show and received awful cyberbullying, of course she was having a hard time. Should have shown more support, Lauren.

I also think a lot of them were infatuated with him, and I'll say, he does seem cool, but I was never on that hype train just because, to me, he looks like every other college guy from my town. But he does seem like a nice guy, I just wasn't as into him because he was a little too much of a "people-pleaser" to me, and would never say what he meant, but then would act innocent if he'd hurt people by not being upfront

Everyone at the time the season was airing knew he was going to pick Lauren, even without the spoiler being out there. Several girls from his season have gone on record that they all knew he was going to pick Lauren as early as week 3-4. My guess is producers told Ben to say "I love you" to JoJo in order to not make the ending as obvious when it aired a few months later.

Am I the only person who thought Olivia's performance was endearing? It made her seem like a perfect future wife & mother, embracing the awkward. There's nothing wrong with some super confident dancing, but people shouldn't be ashamed of being modest, too. I know she liked to seem confident, but she really let that experience embarrass her for some reason. I thought she was completely misunderstood. I liked her!
But my other thought is - in her chat, she talked about how the show (& that moment, along with how she was portrayed) did a number on her, psychologically. I thought it was lovely that she reached out to new "villains" as an ally to help them with what they're experiencing. And while the rest of this episode of Roses and Rosé had me laughing/giggling/cackling, I was a little sad about the way Lauren [I love you, you're the best] reviewed that segment. My heart hurt a little bit for Olivia. Especially posting the whole awkward dance again & cringing (instead of maybe not showing the dance again & just talking about it in passing, then maybe celebrating her a bit). That's my only wish. But the rest of this video 😘👌🏼. Lauren's particular brand of stream-of-consciousness is a glorious thing to behold! 🌹🍷

I think he's always been a people pleaser, and that's not necessarily a bad quality if you're aware of it, which I think he is now. But during his season it made for some very frustrating parts, where I felt like saying "Ben, just say what you mean!! Stop dancing around topics and trying to be P.C., then acting innocent when you hurt these people!"

I think it's true that sometimes people have a type, and Ben's type is obviously brunettes. Look at Kaitlyn Bristowe and his current girlfriend Jess
the way I see it if Jojo or Lauren had been right for him it wouldn't even be a difficult decision. The decision would be made. It's not about someone being what you imagine in a guy to the letter but it's about chemistry and the way the two of you fit together. I can't imagine him and Jojo at all tbh. I think you know when you know and almost always the bachelor strugglles, and thats why it doens't work
Yeah, but it works very often for the Bachelorettes. Rachel Lindsay, Becca Kufrin, Desiree Hartsock, etc. I think people sometimes discount the whole franchise, when in reality what it might be telling you is that the women have better intuition on who to keep/give roses to, when it comes to personality versus just attraction. But I know that somewhat doesn't address your point, and I agree with you mostly.
Also, in my personal opinion, the Bachelorette is MUCH better than the Bachelor, just because of the way they treat contestants with more respect, and the way it flips gender norms on it's head (men being forced to be vulnerable with who they're into, in addition to forming male friendships) rather than playing into the same way media ALWAYS presents people, i.e. portraying it as women being catty and fighting over men.

I would definitely encourage anyone who hasn't listen to Olivia's stories of being on the show to listen to her podcast. She was so traumatized and manipulated throughout the whole process, it makes sense why she reacted the way she did in the interview. Listening to her talk about the show is heartbreaking and I'm over people making fun of her

Not to be negative, but in my opinion Chris Soules' season was actually much better than Ben's. He had Carly Waddell, Kaityln Bristowe, Ashley Iaconetti, Jade Roper, Becca Tilley, etc. and it was a FUN season! I guess they're probably not covering it for obvious reasons, given the tragic thing that happened

@Siysasanga Gibeda Yeah, I couldn't remember the details and thought it was a drunk driving thing, but I wasn't sure and didn't know the correct way to type it. But yes, HE was the one who made the irresponsible and horrible decision(s), and killed someone which is absolutely horrifying and basically unforgivable. But yeah, I also remember that he was on Ashley I. and Ben's podcast recently on a "deep dive" episode, and he talked about it a tiny bit, and I didn't know the full story at that time but have since learned, but I heard him talk about how, I guess after he served his time in jail, when he got home, for about a year afterwards he was in a serious depression and was crying everyday and hated himself and often barely got out of bed, and the way he talked about it, he was 100% serious. There was no "woe is me" in there, and Ben and Ashley even seemed shocked that he was talking about it, but it was dark, which makes sense, and I'm not even saying I necessarily feel bad for the guy, it's just a little interesting
