I have used both and was a Olaplex user for years but the time constraint was rough, I like the K18 4 minute time a lot! I also re-wet after the 4 min (ok'd by the company) and apply a conditioner for about a minute, works like a charm and my hair routine doesn't take as much time :) Great video!
@savvy lynn Thank you! What a great tip! I’ve just purchased L’Oréal Wonder 8 on a good deal and was trying to figure out where to use it. I’m going to do K18 after towel drying for 4 minutes. Use the Lamellar water and then rinse off to see if this will work. Hold thumbs!
Big K18 Fan here! I really REALLY uped my game with K18, and I will never go back. I bought a big bottle of it, 150 ml, and now I am on the journey of restoring my hair from lifting it since I was 12 (i am 30 now), and also after having breakage/hair loss caused by Covid. I started it in October 2022, and did a small break around January. After using it, I do not comb my hair, I spread the 4 pumps on my hair first. I do one pump - foam it in my hands - then apply, and repeat. After 4 minutes, I use moisturising leave-in conditioner, heat protectant, and sometimes a leave-in mask from Selective (Italian brand), which has some bonding benefits. Even after very humid weather, my hair is amazing. Its so soft, I can't even tell you.
Respectfully, I really don't know how you can tell it's the K 18 that is working for you when you apply a mask, heat protectant along with it. A leave in conditioner and the brand of heat protectant I use alone makes my hair feel great after a blow dry. Given that, I have never used K18, only oleplex 3. Too many pros and cons for both actually.
@@kathystclair9485 I was just about to say the same thing. In my opinion, if you STILL need to apply a moisturizing leave-in conditioner, heat protectant, AND sometimes a leave-in mask,..... what in the world is the point of raving about how great this K18 product is? smh. Someone using drug store products or could possibly be doing the exact same thing - without using K18 - and have the same results.
Whenever I have to let something sit in my hair in the shower I'll put on a plastic cap, and while I'm waiting I'll shave my legs or use a special scrub or use a pumice on my feet or anything I'm due for to kill the time! This method even works when you're taking a bubble bath, but I recommend draining the tub and showering after you soak to rinse your hair out when your done. That's another thing you can do while you wait, soak in the tub! Personally I like to shampoo my hair and then rinse it out in the bath water because my whole head gets soaked while I scratch the grime out. Feels SOOO good. Then you can use your olaplex and cap it while you soak! Soaking is great for sore muscles too. Bonus if you have Epsom salt.
K18 did nothing for my hair ... My hair is virgin... I asked a cosmetic chemist and she said is because someone like me without no damage would not see a difference. I do love the vital shots from keratin complex makes my hair look and feel amazing....
I prefer Olaplex as k18 didn't do anything for my hair. I bleached my highlighted my hair and Olaplex helped a lot. I tried K18 and after using up two bottles of it, I didn't notice any improvement like I did with Olaplex
from my logic, horizontal breakage most likely will come from things like overlapping bleach because the whole line is hit at once and will all fall out at once. vertical will be overtime like split ends moving up on certain strands or like heat damage or brushing
The one and only product that repaired my colored & bleached hair my entire life (I'm 60) was Nexxus polymeric reconstructor. They stopped making it about 6 yrs ago , could be longer. It had the consistency of honey maybe thicker and smelled like baby food to me. You would apply it sit under a hair dryer i think 10min and my hair was reborn again. It was not only soft and shiney it made it feel thick. It would last a few weeks then i would reapply again then i wouldn't do it again until i would color my roots and hilight again. My hair felt almost like babydoll hair. Strong thick and shiny. I have no clue why it was discontinued. I've seen it on Amazon for 100$ or more for a small tube. I guess some salons stills had a stock of it. I've tried the duped ones and they don't compare a all. I would donate my kidney for it to come back. In the meantime I've spent so much money trying salon brand products and i try to convince my self or my hair that it works but no. No comparison.😢
My hair is notoriously dry and frizzy. Used Olaplex #3 and then #2 for a couple months. Tried #1 mixed with root touch up color recently and my hair was so soft and shiny where I colored. Days later I kept touching my hair because I couldn’t believe the softness. I do still have to use an expensive hair mask like Kerastase to add moisture but this combo has brought shine and tame to my hair after decades long battle with frizz. I ordered k18 today to try because I’d love to see if I can forego heat styling after using it along with a leave in. Although olaplex has improved my hair, I still don’t like the look of it when airdryed.
I've been using just the olaplex shampoo and conditioner once a week and the Oui leave in after every wash ( 3 times a week). It's a perfect combination 👌🏻
I find K-18 not so easy to build in my routine because I really like to use rinse-out conditioners and masks. And frankly speaking I did not see such a difference...neither with K-18 nor with Olaplex. I am wondering if it really is as much of a gamechanger as claimed (at least the at-home-use-products). A high quality hair mask is doing more for me.
I feel the same way. Both are very overrated. Nothing can technically “repair” hair, as hair is not alive and cannot heal. Good products prevent more damage. Olaplex and K18 do very little but condition the hair
@@SarastistheSerpent Olaplaex is a temporary fix and k18 lays in the more “permanent” fix. Though not really permanent as you mentioned nothing can 100% repair the hair . But it does help rebuild the bonds inside the hair strengthening them.
If your hair is really ruined,, what I experienced once after a bleaching, then Olaplex is like sent from heaven. A normal hair mask does not help in such a case.
If your hair has no true visible damage, you will not notice a dramatic change. Years ago, when I first bought Olaplex No.3, I used it on my clean damp hair and left it on overnight with plastic hair caps. It literally fixed my fried ends (the burnt zig zag hair) in just one application. I certainly was not expecting it. Ever since, I am re-purchasing and always using it on clean washed hair, keeping it moist with plastic caps, and leaving it on for as long as possible, sometimes reapplying even more. Plus, after I take the caps off, I let it dry on my hair, before I wash. K18, I just purchased and used only once, so I cannot attest to that. But I will experiment with it for sure. Long story short, I will be keeping both product lines in my routine; one can never have enough ammunition 😉
Olaplex and K18 can be used together so one doesn’t need to choose (except for the price lol) they work on different parts of the hair so they may even work better together for some.
