Hi Jeff! You had me hanging off the edge of my seat waiting to see if you were going to ask about sliding glass or French door applications, you didn't let me down! This is perfect for those like me who can't find a "clean look" patio door covering in a contemporary style house. Thanks for making this video and showing companies/products that I need, but would probably never know existed. Great job!
"Power Transfer Hinge" . The ones I've seen/installed were $200=$400 commercial grade. I remember them having about 8 conductors. They're pretty common on high security commercial buildings these days, with badge keys, electrified crash bars and such.
Is it waterproof. Can it be used outdoors in rain/ extreme weather? And does this have like an outlet connection or a light tube to ballast connection? How long will this last in direct sunlight for outdoor use? I have a crazy idea use for this. :) love it.
Hi, I have a technical question. We saw smart glass today in one local showroom. Unfortunately, we noticed that the glass (when transparent) looks slightly misty like it was a little bit dusty. Is it normal? If so, could you please tell me which type ( technology) of smart glass is the most transparent / clear without this dusty view. Also, does smart glass deteriorate over time somehow? Thank you, Anna
Those are both great questions. Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience to be able to give an honest opinion. The product that I saw in this video was very clear. I could tell that it was there, but just slightly.
No. The reason they don't this way is so that if you had a power failure you'd have privacy. Imagine momma taking a shower and then the power fails. Yikes!
@@HoustonWindowExperts I understand. The reason I wanted to know is because I want it for the sliding doors in which you want privacy not that often. So the glass can stay clear most of the time.
What could be done for this type customer. I own a house with M&W old school windows. They are of a historic look. They are divided into many separate pains and the mutts are, at their smallest point, are 7/8 inches. Is there a way to replace a damaged window that will look like these?
@@HoustonWindowExperts Let me put it this way. Are there replacement windows that look like originals in Colonial Williamsburg,Va. Just a hypo question.
:)) few more wire contacts "different price-point clearly..." that's nice markup with arduino kit for 50$ attached it will clearly be a different price tag..

Dude knows how to ask the right questions!
Thanks for watching

Great! Thanks for watching and your comment.

Good to know. Thank you

I'm not sure about exposure. In this case, the wiring and the controller were designed to be inside the wall.
It connects to a transformer (100W, 110V - 48V; $260 as of today)
Nice
Great work guys

Can the frosting color be some other color other than white?
All I've seen is White
Can it be used for a garage door?
Sure
for the standard PDLC, how much ac volts is actually required to change the state? is it going to be differenet according to the size of the film?
That's a great question. I truly don't know.
Hello you guys offer training for smart glass or smart film glass and can I open at small business in my city to do it?
We do not.
Is it possible to do the inverse? When the glass is turned off it stays clear and when you want privacy turned on?
No. The reason they don't this way is so that if you had a power failure you'd have privacy. Imagine momma taking a shower and then the power fails. Yikes!

@@Peter-ok9bj yes, this effect is reversible in theory. not with this product, though of course.
Is thia the made by the company VIEW? Who does for the commercial, high raise buildings and lots of airports.
No, unless view owns this company

I'd have to know more to understand. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help.

I'm certain that you can find them. Ask a local dealer and see if they have any ideas.
@@HoustonWindowExperts I doubt it but thanks. Again thanks for the help with the Quad Max. Project done!
Glad to help.
Hi Jeff.
Is this new Technology Too Late for us ?
All our windows are now installed.

You could swap the glass in your existing windows with this stuff. I would reach out to them and ask what they think.

Thanks Jeff 🙂,

We are some kind of electric film to put on the excited glass to get smart glass effects.
Are these impact rated ? Do they come with NOAs?
Not that I know of.
How can I get info on ordering.
Can this be put into an all glass garage door?
I'm sure it's happening at some point
How can it be lowE and energy efficient/green when u use power? 🤔
It uses 15 watts of power and yet it reduces the heat by 85% which means your AC runs less often. The AC uses a lot more than 15 watts of energy.

Is this patented technology?
Yes
It’s kinda weird to see this touted as high tech or new. These have been around for decades and used in Asian and Europe. Strange.
Looks like they aren't clear though even when the frost is turned off.
I think the camera is making things appear differently than they are. I would say it was virtually clear when I saw it in person.
