When you said “I feel prettiest when I have a face mask on” it broke my heart omg :( I can totally relate to skin problems shattering confidence but must assure you that you are insanely beautiful inside and out no matter what your skin looks like!!! So sorry you’re feeling this way 💕💕💕

I've struggled with really bad and painful acne for years and years. I finally took a leap of faith and went on accutane and I've been using it for 11 months now! Honestly one of the best decisions I've made. I'm still on it as my skin is 100% where I want it to be but I cannot stress enough the difference it made to my confidence. It definitely has some side effects and I recommend doing some research on it but for anyone who feels like they have tried ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING to clear their skin and nothing has worked (literally me) then it is the way to go! Love ya soph btw

    • @hanne9432
      @hanne9432 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This! accutane changed my life! took it when I was 15 and now 5 years later I’m still thankful for it every day when I look in the mirror! that being said, besides dryness I didn’t have any side effects thank god

    • @sarah-lx1yl
      @sarah-lx1yl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@hanne9432 thats amazing!! my skin isnt too dry itself its more my lips, the skin on my arms and legs and the inside of my nose leading to nosebleeds. I've been on accutane 11 months as i said and i dont break out anymore but im still struggling with scares and hypermpigmentation. chemical exfoliants would obviously help with that but you cant use them while on accutane because its so restrictive. but im so happy your skin is treating you well theres really no better feeling!

I only follow you on TH-cam for the sole reason that I have no other social media platforms! I found my mental health to be so much better without social media in my life, but if I did have it I would be following you! So I had no idea you and Sam had gotten Covid till this video! So glad you both are feeling better 💕

I totally understand how you feel about your skin. I used to have acne and it was a very difficulty time for me mentally. I had tried everything, even went to the dermatologist multiple times and couldn't find what the issue was. What I found helped my skin the most to clear is taking zinc supplements, using simple skincare products, reducing dairy in my everyday life, not using much makeup and not touching my skin during the day or popping my pimples. Also I feel like working on my mental health and stress levels really helped too. I really hope you find what works for you and feel better. You look gorgeous anyways and I love your vlogs.

as a teenager who’s struggling with skin I FEEL THIS…. the whole thing with the food especially!!! be able to enjoy food and have decent skin… like other people eat BADDDZ and there skins fine!!! it’s just so frustrating and you dont feel it, like the being self conscious, until your skin is bad. for the people who have clear skin it doesn’t cross there mind. then for me it’s all i think about and see. id say the best word for the feeling is just frustrating

ok i relate so hard to feeling prettiest when you've got a face mask on!!!!! i've legit had that thought multiple times before. and i know from personal experience that wearing makeup doesn't make any difference to problem skin - i started to get acne i was in lockdown so i wore zero makeup, and it made no difference. i know exactly how hard it is, i hope for everyone who's struggling with their skin that we can find a solution!!

You said you have done everything to improve your skin, but what is about accepting? I have struggled with skin problems too, sometimes less and sometimes more and tries everything too, which was a very exhausting journey. Then I decided I don’t want to do anything more against it and instead accept it and it finally feels like a lot of pressure is just gone. I‘m just happy when it’s one of those better days and the rest of the days I don’t care. We are humans and not robots that need to be fixed if sth is wrong. If we look closer our body is an awesome biological system itself and a little bit of a bad skin just reminds us of that we can be thankful to be part of this. I hope it doesn’t come offensive because English is not my First language ❤️

I know the feeling of bad skin, it truly is terrible :(( I tried so so many things to fix my acne but nothing would work. I eventually went to a dermatologist, they don't feel like a hospital at all! I will say they are very expensive ! However, I went on roaccutane, there can be side effects and of course it is something you would need to discuss with the actual health professional. Anyhow my skin has never been better ! It's the best feeling and I want that for you too!! I hope you find a solution, much love !!

Struggled with a varying degree of hormonal acne for about at least 13 years. Taking the pill for about 3 years was the only thing that cleared my skin up in that time but I had to cease it due to a blood clot. The acne came back after that and I pretty much dealt with it until I recently fell pregnant and had a baby. Tried antibiotics, lots of different skin care, diet changes, stress reduction, and the list goes on. My skin has been clear since I became pregnant. Obviously skin is different from person to person but feel like it's hard to control your hormones.

hey soph, I had suffered throughout teenage/adulthood with acne and red sensitive skin but I've found the solution! Sounds crazy but have you tried just using water when you wash your face and no facewash/toner/cleanser. I stopped using face stuff to wash my face one week as I couldn't be bothered to do my usual skin routine. I was just splashing water over my face and then using a moisteriser day and night. Within a week my skin started to clear up! A year on my skin has never been better, I have no spots, no red angry skin. I also use a serum in the morning which makes it glow! Less chemicals and more water! Love Emma in the UK xx

I feel your struggles with skin so much! Whenever I eat anything that has the smallest bit of dairy in it my skin flares up so badly and takes so long to get back to normal. It can be a struggle having to be so cautious about what I am eating so I understand how you feel. I have started taking probiotics and prebiotics daily, so if you aren't already I would definitely try those! My skin is definitely gut and hormone related after coming off the pill about 8 months ago, so finding things to improve my gut health has helped my skin so much! I truly truly hope you can find out what works for your skin and you can sort something out for yourself and get some confidence back. Self confidence can be so hard to be open about so I want to thank you so much for always being real with us.
Sending lots of love always 🥰

Girl, I know this video is a bit older but I just wanted to comment on your acne insecurities. I completely get you, I was the same as you. I told you in the past that accutane is not perfect, which is true, but if nothing helps then I would definitely suggest you taking it. I have never had regrets about my accutane journey. I finally got my confidence back after years of being super self conscious. Don’t make it more difficult for yourself then it already is - there is no shame in asking for medical help ❤️

I've struggled with acne since I was a junior in high school (15-16yo), I'm now 27. I tried natural paths to heal my skin, different kinds of skincare, prescription topicals and antibiotics, nothing worked. The only thing that ever worked for me was accutane. I was on it once in high school, and once again in college. It completely cleared my skin for about 4 years each time. I just went back on it last month because I stopped taking my birth control pill back in October 2021 (that I was on since I was 14 years old), and I broke out HORRENDOUSLY from hormonal acne (the worst It's ever been, and when I say bad, it was so so so so so bad). Accutane is my only shot at clearing up my skin, and it's starting to clear it up again. It requires a lot of follow up and doctor visits to stay on it, but it's 100% worth it.

Can relate 10000% with the skin situation. I had severe acne for 10 years and literally spent thousands and did everything to try and fix it. I relate to this whole skin thing sooo much. Not wearing makeup - acne, wearing makeup - still acne. Trying cut off things like lactose or gluten (I'm mildly allergic to both anyways so am trying not to go too cuckoo), no change. New skincare - no change. It's soooo frustrating. And it's been like this for a couple of years now. I thought being 25, the drama will go away but nope!
I think we all get worked up on it so much because "healthy glowy" skin is all over our social media etc these days. Sure, that's the goal, but how much of it is also makeup, lighting and filters!? I feel like we need to normalise the fact that skin plays tricks on us sometimes and that's how it is. Clear skin and all the skincare social media is trying to sell us seem like the new diet culture! Strange times.
It's not easy to be comfortable in your own skin sometimes, but we need to remember we're beautiful how we are, spots, acne scars, eczema and all!
Rant over. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk! lol
A side note, you're incredible Sophie and I always am looking forward to your vlogs, you're such a sunny soul, giving us all the best kind of energy! :) xx

Love all your videos. It’s always nice to see you upload each week. Just wanted to say you are absolutely beautiful whether you have acne or not. I’ve been there. I used to have horrible acne and I changed a lot of things in my life and it went away so I just wanted to share something that’s helped me. I eat a pretty much paleo based diet. So no gluten, dairy, grains, refine sugar. Cutting those things out has been difficult for me but I have done that the past 2 years and also did some tests to find out what was going on in my gut. I had candida overgrowth and leaky gut. (I did a stool test and blood work for this) anyways once I figured out what was going on in my gut I was able to understand why my body was inflamed and had acne. Everyone is really different but I just wanted to share my experience and what helped me! :) anyways I appreciate you sharing your life here on TH-cam and being vulnerable. ❤️

    Hi Sophie,
At the end of the day we are women and and our body’s and skin is never going to be perfect, we can tell you all the options in the world as to how to fix acne but really it happens. I struggled although out high school with severe acne, which at the time I didn’t even know it was severe, until I was told by my doctor, I was then put on Estelle to control it and it did wonders, it basically got rid of my acne completely, I have been on it ever since, but that hasn’t stopped my acne from coming and going, the chin area is suppose to be hormones, and therefore I believe it is the area I feel is less controllable.
You should be able to eat whatever you want and not have to worry, but for someone who completely understands the insecurity of acne as I am sure many in this comment section would, it is less of worrying and more on realising that you can’t control it. Remember we need to remember what we can and cannot change and go accordingly to that.
You are pretty, you are gorgeous, and you are inspiring to me who has suffered with so many of the same things you have mentioned in your videos, when I watch you compared to other TH-camrs or influencers I don’t feel insecure, which for me is incredible.
Just keep doing your skincare , and do something that makes you happy because I swear to you that your acne is probably flared up due to stress and stress and hormones alone. So give it time and I believe it will go away.

I'm a trained Skincare specialist and sometimes what can happen is you go though hormonal acne which is formed in adulthood that could range from blackheads and whiteheads to painful cysts. I would recommend to go to a dermatologist, I know it sucks as I went through it. 😕 But skincare is a journey 🌻

I have struggled with hormonal acne forever!! Just know it is a chemical imbalance within your body that has a disproportionate number of a certain hormone over another. Along with the drug Acutane, which helps regulate these hormones, I have used The Ordinary serums in combination with the Cereve, a hydrating face wash, and a hydrating moisturizer and that has drastically improved texture of my skin and the balance of my skin tone. Hope that helps!!!

Hey Soph, I really recommend researching skin clinics in your area & going in for a consultation! Sometimes all you need is the right skin care products/treatments and especially in Brisbane, there are a lot of clinics that focus specifically on acne/congestion! Ideally don’t want to go on medication either. I am having the same problem, my face feels like it is just freaking out. My skin has been so bad, and anything that use to work to manage it doesn't seem to be helping anymore. I knows it's hormones and I'm on a journey. It is just such a confidence killer. ♥️

I’ve been dealing with acne since I was 12 years old. 9 years now too. It fluctuates a lot but I found one thing that helped more than anything else was going to an esthetician and getting a chemical peel every 2 weeks. I have a 7 step morning and night routine and when I’m on top of it my skin is great. Maybe give that a shot 🥰

I struggled with acne for a while during covid the past 2 years and it came on all of a sudden - many many tests later, they actually figure out I had a bad gut/gut bacteria. Maybe have a look at seeing a naturopath if you haven’t already or get some tests done for your stomach bacteria 🤍

Would highly highly recommend seeing a well sought after dermatologist, get some recommendations. I did roacotane and although it was hard has changed my life, you do it for a period of time and then ease off. Also seeing a clinical dietitian!

    Hi Sophie,
I get spots when I eat dairy 😆 so they are bad right now :P
Um do you have clean and clear in Australia? If so that really helps clear my skin, even if you’ve tried it before try it again because it never worked for me when I was younger but now does. And another thing I find helps is if I do a face sauna 10mins with a towel over your head and do a few times a day over a few days and that has helped me too.
    Hope that helps! Xxxx
P.s my bf had acne before and the clean and clear helped him xxx

I wasn't super active on Instagram for a long time (and still am not) but I'm the resident Gen Z at a social media managing company so I'm starting to be seen as an Instagram expert! I figured if I have to learn what people like I might as well follow people I already like❤

I actually don't follow any "influencer" on Instagram or TikTok. On Instagram I only follow my friends and I barely go on TikTok anyways. This way I can choose when I really want to watch a Video from the youtubers I love and I'm not tempted to spend hours on instagram 💕

Just wanted to bring attention to “future you” being very close to “future self”, Alfie Deyes’s brand. Just in case you didnt know. I dont know if that could present problems or not, especially being the same type of brand with the same type of background feeling. Wanted to make you aware! ♥️

Hello! The only thing that worked for my acne was taking roacccutane. I'd suggest doing your research because it's quite a strong medication but for me it was worth it. I went to see a skin doctor for it.
