I have to respectfully disagree. This song was good, as as it was once said, ‘The Allman Brothers created the genre and Molly Hatchet destroyed it.’ The best thing going for them was Frank Frazetta’s album cover.

My father was asked by these guys to go on tour with them and play keys in the early 80’s. He turned them down because I was a little toddler at the time and he didn’t want to leave the family. If I knew the time, I would have told him to go. Lol. Not because I wouldn’t have wanted him around but because that would have been cool! lol. Now he is a local legend and that is just as cool.

I saw Molly Hatchet twice within a year 80/81, but not with this singer, Danny Joe Brown. I did see the Danny Joe Brown band later in 81. 😂
I actually sang a song on stage with one of the bassists (many lineup changes thru the years) for the band when he used to sit in with the house band at a club on base in Orlando, FL I used to frequent when I was stationed down there. The song was Molly Hatchet's version of The Allman Bros.' "Dreams I'll Never See." The house band used to let me get up and sing with them frequently, and Riff (RIP) was going out with the singer and would come in on occasion and sit in with them for a song or two. One night my stars aligned. 😊
Southern rock to the core! Florida boys. Gator country. And the album artwork by Frank Frazetta...yeah, they kicked ass!

What a band, tune, and album! Earlier today, my wife was driving us home from my week at Univ of Chicago while I played this through my BT hearing aides. She knew I was doing a lot of smiling but not why, exactly. 😅😅😅😅
This album, Flirtin’ With Disaster, is their second album and was released in 1978. I was a student at Mich State that winter and won tickets from a radio station to go see them at another nearby college. HIGH energy - they had those guitars thumpin’. They got a lot of airplay and good press. It would have been interesting to see what this 70s band could have done with an ‘80s propaganda machine, plus MTV, behind it. The few years I followed them were quite impressive as it was! Thank you for featuring Flirtin’ With Disaster, Steven. Great memories came with that.

And really in today's music Southern Rock is like a dying breed and what music is coming out that's close to it , to me , it's coming out of the country genre , but there not the same to me it's just edgy country songs not Southern Rock but anyway

I think we frost-bitten Canadians surprised the hell out of the band because we wouldn't let them go after their show. We called them for encores three times. The last time they came out in shorts and t-shirts to play. An awesome night for the band and the fans. It doesn't really matter where you come from. Great music will always unite the masses.

Molly Hatchet received high praise from Ronnie Van Zant back when they were still on the club scene, before they had a recording contract. They had a heavier sound that Ronnie said he'd like to see Skynyrd get that heavy one day.
BTW, check out their cover of Allman Brothers Dreams I'll Never See. My personal favorite by Molly Hatchet.
The guitar solos are spread between the 3 guitarists. Each playong different parts, hence the different sounds.

This impressed me so much as a kid hearing it on a huge record player from the 40s that shook the room. This was in like 2008, but still a legendary sound.
Twisted Sisters song "Captain Howdy" is about the demon from The Exorcist thats named that.
Only says it in a short part of the movie when the girl says "I was playing with Captain Howdy."

Being a huge southern rock fan, this song has always been one of my very favorites. It just rocks from start to finish. I've always love the 3 guitar bands like them, Skynyrd and others.

Loved Molly Hatchet. All their music rocked and their album covers featured artwork from my favorite artist Frank Frazetta who was considered the godfather of fantasy art.

Awesome song! My buddies and I used to jam to Molly Hatchet and KISS on LP's back in the day. Hatchet was another of those Southern guitar armies. You should do Bounty Hunter by them next!
