Your attention to detail on each piece and part you work on shows just how dedicated you are and meticulous to get every aspect of what ever you're working on to be just perfect. Rather than just toss things out and buy new stuff you bring so much back to life, that's impressive! Always look forward to seeing your videos. Can't wait til you return to the UK, set up shop and start doing restorations on non car related things for your other channel! Cheers Mate keep up the great work!

I always thought if the original "skin"(the dye) came off, that was just the leather ruined.... And I just applied a thin coat of dye over that to "mask" the imperfection... Didn't realise you're supposed to do a few thick coats and then seal it lol.

In the beginning you talk about a leather filler. May you please indicate which one us it?

@@RestoreIt FYI I worked a lot with colour lock leather restoration, and it is kind of useless for really bad leather. The work you did on the steering wheel will hold up as it is only abused by hands. If you try and repair a seat by filling in cracks and recolloring- don't waste your time. The color seals the leather and makes you sweat and then the fibers of your clothing stick to the color. Filling cracks never lasts.

What grit did you used to sand the leather?

Ive restored an identical mtech steering wheel for my 325is. Ideally you should just reupholster the leather as it is a wear item like bushings and bearings. Black automotive finish hide with thick nylon leather thread.

At 4:39, you wiped all the dry grime agitated from the previous step into the fine grain! Making all your other cleaning steps less effective. You should have used a sponge and some warm soapy water to keep the areas wet and rinse that dirt off.

    • @RestoreIt

I thought that too... but don't worry... I cleaned that thing for hours and showed only a very small amount of it.
