@@JohnGavalas-xh5ub it's basically the arcade version of a sega saturn. Basically the same hardware. SEGA liked to have similar hardware for both homes and arcades, so that porting games to console was easier. They did the same with the dreamcast and its arcade board counterpart, the NAOMI, which is just a dreamcast with extra audio RAM as sole difference between them.
Thank you for all the tips in fixing some of the PC problems, hopes these work on the Darius M2 ports. Maybe also with a bit of tweaks, and maybe in Steam itself, I would be able to replicate the Taito Hey Scoring layout they use in arcades (I think this was the setup used for the World Record) Nice run as always Jaimers
Dude, I am magnetized to your videos. You really know your stuff and it's awesome you put the time in to not only get good runs recorded, but add commentary and tips so people can recreate and add on to them if they want, and for so many games, too! 10/10 channel, this is something I didn't know I needed until today.
Amazing run of an amazing game. One of my fav shmups ever. 20 years ago when I had a respectable collection of games, this one (Saturn port) was the most expensive, by far, at $150 for a used copy. I actually got a decent deal on it, they normally went for ~$200 back then. I only played Saturn mode, with all the stages present (and some bonus stuff in St 5 & 6). I wouldn't call myself an expert at it, but I could pull off most of the scoring strats in stages 3 and 2. Sometimes I just credit-fed to the end (or loaded my max-level weapon save file) because holy shit the presentation is astounding. Especially for the Saturn hardware. It's funny watching plays of the HD versions because they took out all of the slowdown.
You nailed it with stage 5 being ridiculously insane to survive let alone score for. Hardest game to “beat” I’ve played in my life. Nothing but respect for this run.
It's kinda strange for me that still to this day, you still don't have an Ikaruga run in your channel, like watching a run of this game from you before Ikaruga was something unexpected. Great run as always btw, I used to play this game a lot in the xbox 360 back in the day, never got too hard into the scoring tho, because it feels like a waiting room to get to play stage 5 and then mess up and restart.
For some reason a lot of Cave fans really hate Ikaruga, so it's not surprising to me at all. They rather play stuff like Touhou. It's not a game for everyone.
Huh, never occurred to me that he's never done Ikaruga. Also surprised to see he's never done Hellsinker or Akashicverse tbh, those are 2 o my favorite shmups ever(though the latter I believe is a bit more obscure)
Good game is forever, i play this not even know there is a clain system when i am about 12, now watching this and listen the music for i am 40, and thinking to get the steam version again
2 days before Me: Hey look Jaimers has a video about Radiant Silvergun! My Sib: FR? Me:... My Sib: *checks YT* My Sib: No there is no video about that. Me: C'mon i think i saw it. Today Me: Hey Look! My Sib: Oh Gosh is that real? Did you just predicted something and it came true? Me: Idk. I thought it was a joke but it went real.
So is the chain bonus applied to the value of the enemy you trigger it on? Is that why you leave some enemies alive at times? I had always suspected something like this but could never find a clear answer.
Huh, and I thought the port to Steam would be on par in terms of the Switch. Least with what you can do makes it much more appealing to newcomers who'd rather not delve into the past generations of consoles to get optimal versions for whatever they need. And honestly I might need to pick it up myself since I'm still pretty unfamiliar with some segments from trying to play the game on Saturn... There's also just the case I prefer playing shmups on a keyboard lol.
Disagree about tying weapon strength to score being a good thing. It forces you to play a certain way or else you won't be able to damage enemies for shit later in the game. It's the only thing I really don't like about RSG. Aside from that yes, great game.
What a beast! I saw your highscore on the steam leaderboard! The milking with the lasers on xiga is crazy ha
Xiga and stone like
Love your videos bro
This game was an absolute masterpiece for the ST-V and Sega Saturn.
ST-V?
I never heard of Sega ST-V interesting

Finally, it has come out for the PC, after so many years!!!!

I must be living under a rock because I had no idea that RSG was getting a Steam port. Neat.
Still one of the all time greatests. This game opened my eyes to shoot em ups but outside of Dodonpachi I think none come close.

I can only watch this game. Trying to play it feels like I need a degree. Always get myself killed before stage 2.
At long last
The Legendary Game is here, on PC Platform
Its better late than never
Enjoy your stay
Would love to see you do Saturn mode with all the extra bosses.

GG. superb job on stage 5. absolutely insane stage.
My God, some of the strategies you have used sure are game changing. A lot safer than my poor routes. Thank you for such an amazing run!
Great job and thank you for the tips, it's been a long time and this will help me learn all the cool stuff again.
Finally, it's on steam

Too many games, not enough time ha.
I'll probably do Ikaruga at some point because I do think it's really good.
I don't think I've seen another RSG playthrough do what you did at 9:08. "Ah, THERE'S Jaimers."
There is some absolutely degenerate milking strategies in this game. I'm glad this superplay didn't have them, they tend to be really boring to watch.
This is how I found out it came out, finally
Good game is forever, i play this not even know there is a clain system when i am about 12, now watching this and listen the music for i am 40, and thinking to get the steam version again
I have never played this, but I can tell your skill is impressive. Great job!
Great commentary, as you say, the game is surprisingly under-documented online. This release may change that.
I hope this game gets brought over to the PS4 and PS5.
very good run and very fun game, and yeah stage 5 is a total nightmare
Xiga straight up got bullied. It's a shame how the stone like cheesed our surviving pilots with a screen clear move.

11:40 has anyone ever told you how good you are at shmups?
So is the chain bonus applied to the value of the enemy you trigger it on? Is that why you leave some enemies alive at times?
I had always suspected something like this but could never find a clear answer.
Do you can do ikaruga? Since you did play radiant silvergun already.
Jaimers, you have it, claim it xt
thx

Glad this game is on Steam it was annoying to emulate this game.
Damn.
Wait, so the game starts at stage 3?
The stages are numbered in chronological order, rather than the order you face them in.
Ayyy congrats man!
Damn...even on Normal difficulty this looks pretty hard to beat
UDidIt
