Prime is a soft reset on the story as well. The background stays the same, but it's essentially a new Ingress universe. Edit: as a result, we also get different actors for the characters. Interestingly enough, the anime, which takes place in the Prime universe, uses a lot of the old actors for character designs, mainly Hank Johnson.
