    Another fantastic training, Mynda - thanks!!! I built my first Excel dashboard about 4 months ago after viewing an earlier webinar by you. It works, but taught me to dive deeper into Power Query, M, Power Pivot, & DAX (all new to me at the time). So, I’ve learned & am learning PQ & PP from you, Mike Girvin, Leila Gharani, Jon Acompora, & others. This webinar came at just the right time to push me back into dashboard development ... probably beginning with replacing that first dashboard. (I configured it to load data tables which makes the file huge & slows the daily update. Now, I know to load data to the PP data model in background & make only pivoted data visible. My DAX chops aren’t quite ready for that, but I learned to swim at the deep end of the pool, so why not jump in?) I love the fast-paced, content-rich method of your webinars. Thanks again!

    I looked through the comments and saw your reply about using locale but after choosing the date type from the first drop-down list, there's another one with all languages and countries which one do i choose.

    I know it has been a while since you posted this video, but I had question as far as making the first "Active Employee" chart. How would this work if the initial data loaded in did not have the "Date" column of when the data was retrieved? So for example the only initial dates would be the employee "Hire Date".

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub

      You could use today's date to compare to the hire date using the TODAY() function.

    This was easily the best tutorial I've ever seen on building dashboards in enhanced Excel -- and I've been using Power Query and Power Pivot for several years.
    The problem is, sometimes I still struggle to describe or explain what I see happening on my Power Pivot dashboards as I "trial-and-error" my way through various DAX calculations. The two biggest areas of "nebulousness" are:
    1) Given that (in addition to allowing us to add basic conditional filters) CALCULATE adds the current row to the existing filter context, is there an easy way to know in advance when you will want to add CALCULATE to your expressions rather than simply waiting to see if things "look right" with or without it on your pivot table?
    2) Similarly, I know what ALL and ALLEXCEPT do and I use them frequently to remove or keep selected filters/columns. However, for example, in this tutorial you sometimes use ALL to augment your FILTER statements but not others. Is there an easy way to know in advance that we should be thinking of modifying our FILTER statement with ALL?

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub

    First time to write a comment about youtube video ever, which means your class is absolutely great! I didn't even imagine we can make this kind of beautiful report only with Excel. Tried to follow your steps through this video but hard to understand about DAX. I think I can get the knowledge from your videos. Thanks for letting me know about another world, I will practice to become the person like you :D P.S. it would be very appreciated if you could speak little slower than now, sometimes your tempo is bit faster than my understanding because I am not a native speaker.

      Wow, thanks for taking the time to comment and your kind words :-) While DAX is very similar to Excel functions, it's also quite advanced so don't be tough on yourself if you don't get it right away.

    Thank you Mynda for sharing this amazing tutorial. Question: I'm having trouble in getting data. It shows an error when I click close and apply about a driver missing or corrupted! What should I do in such case? Thank you

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. I recommend you do a Google search for the exact error message as I'm sure you're not the first to have the problem.

    Your videos are soooo informative, thank you! Any idea why the values are showing as 0 on the dashboard? I put the = and went to the sheet and selected the values but it populates as 0 near the icon…

    Wow... absolutely amazing. I picked up so many things from this video and was able to apply these concepts to produce a similar dashboard for our HR data. It was very well received, thank you so much. Just one small thing I couldn't figure out - How did your text in the headlines automatically format to match the colour of your icon?

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to hear, Holly! I had already applied the cell formatting before building the dashboard to save some time.

      @@MyOnlineTrainingHub Thanks Mynda. Can you help with a new emergency please - I had created a number of queries and loaded them to my workbook as tables in separate tabs. I had used Power Pivot to create a data model with several relationships, hierarchies and measures. I finished my dashboard, then changed the name of my workbook to something user friendly. But now all my queries and my model have disappeared. When I click the data tab, the queries and connections is greyed out. When I click Power Pivot my model is empty. How do I get everything back?! Please help!
