  • In this Science (Physics) video in Hindi for Class 9 we explained why planets move faster when closer to sun. This is a topic from Chapter 10 - 'Gravitation' for class 9th.
Planets move in elliptical path around the sun. As the path is elliptical, there is a point where the planet is farthest from the sun which is called 'aphelion'. And there is a point where the planet is closest to the sun which is called 'perihelion'. According to Kepler's second law of planetary motion the line joining the planet and the Sun sweep equal areas in equal intervals of time. It concludes, when the planet crosses the aphelion, it moves slowest and when crosses the perihelion, it moves fastest.
The reason behind this, is the difference in potential energy, which has been explained in this video.

Sir I can explain it more simply.
We know that F inversely proportional to Square of distance..which means the highest applied force will be at perihelion..we also know that F is directly proportional to Acceleration..that means the highest acceleration of the earth also will be at perihelion..
Thats why the earth revolve fastest at perihelion and slowest at aphelion ..
    I am right..😉

      Good brother
But it may have many reasons
      1. Conversion of energy ( potential to kinetic)
      2. F is inversely proportional to 1/r^2
      🙂

Rolling Track and marble example rolling track is in inclined position and put the marble in the track there an external force gravity is applied. that is why you are using the track inclined position. but in the sun and earth there is no external force and no inclined position, space is empty. in space we can't consider no up and down.

🅠 Why did we considered a rolling track over there?
You made that track as 1 end is much higher than the 2 ed end. There is no gravity like earth so the ball will not fall fast toward the 2ed end and speed will not be slow towards 1st end.
Maybe distance from the sun affects the speed.
    By the Newton's law,
F is inversely proportional to the square of distance. So, as distance increases, force decreases.
Maybe due to this reason earth moves fast while crossing the perihelion and moves slow while crossing aphehelion.
Am I right? Please guide me.
