Yay!!! I'm so glad you didn't quit!!! We need you to keep creating this fabulous content. Even if your "job title" might sometimes change from profitable flower farmer to bunny defeated flower farmer, you're still a soil advocate, microbe farmer and content creator and we are all here cheering you along the journey and wish you the best success. You got this ❤
I absolutely love your passion for healthy soil ❤ I admire your drive and I wish you all the strength, motivation and luck in the world so that you continue running your amazing flower farm and blessing us with more videos alongside this 😊 I was so sorry to hear about all the pests visiting your farm. But you are stronger than this and I am sure you will absolutely overcome all these challenges 🎉
Well done Sarah, honest and open last week and looking so positive this week it is apparent it is helping you - looking happier - and definitely helps others
Go girl you can do it ....the cover crop will look lovely and the phacelia can be useful in bunches...nice to see you looking more positive ..sending hugs 🌺🌹🌺
Well done, keep fighting. I work as a gardener & recognise it's a war out there, we fight the weather, even the customers some times - oops, the pets - oops, rabbits, deer, insects you name it. You'll have a black belt in gardening one day. I would prioritise whatever measures are required to keep the wildlife at bay. Good luck & thanks for sharing.
Ah well done!! I have been thinking of you so much after the last video - from watching your videos I just couldn't imagine you without your flowers. Holding thumbs for you. Your videos are so educational and informative. Just awesome.
Maybe you need to start rehabilitating predatory birds to keep your rabbit population in check just like Sunflower Steve. J/k 😅 Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you will be able to salvage this season. Good luck!
This was my first year growing gomphrena. I was so encouraged by how easily they germinated and started growing... but the birds seem to love snacking on them. Do not underestimate the birds for snacking on seedlings!
So grateful for all your videos and for your honesty, this year has definitely been my toughest, for so many reasons and you really do question if it's worth it. Thank you so much for making the time to record these xx
For the rabbits put Poultry wire down on the ground around the field maybe even fold it up against the fence a bit to close up any gaps. I have dried and blended egg shells in my blender and added it to my compost. 😊
‘Onwards and upwards’ Sarah. You’re doing an amazing job and such an inspiration to us. Life is certainly good at throwing us s**t to deal with, but go stand in the middle of your field and have a good old scream, the louder the better, you’ll feel good afterwards, and you might even scare off those pesky rabbits!!😂 ❤
I’m new here so this is probably a dumb suggestion but have you tried burying wire mesh/ hardware cloth around the perimeter. I think that’s how most people keep chickens safe in the coop so it might help 🤷🏼♀️ I wish you all the luck you seem like a nice person who deserves a break.
Possibly keeping a dog out in the flower field will keep the rabbits at bay? He would have to be an extra good boy though as to not trample the seedlings😉 Keep going girl. You are too invested to give in now. Hugs from California❤
I’m so glad you’re sticking with it Sarah. I’m only a hobbie gardener and have just taken on an allotment where my plants and veg have been ravaged by rabbits. It’s absolutely heartbreaking when you’ve put so much effort into growing things. I’ve made it as secure as I can with wire fencing but what I’ve also done is a perimeter fence of lavender and lemon balm as I’ve heard they don’t like the smell of these plants. Maybe you could try this for next year but on a bigger scale. Deb in Yorkshire.
Thank you! I am so happy to discover you. Thanks for sharing the surprise delivering with the thoughtful and random act of kindness from the other farme! Rabbits, birds and chipmunks ate 90% of everything last yr and are worse this season in my garden! I feel the frustration and pain of loss time, energy, money and plants. 💔 I keep at it and it is helpful to see you are too. Thanks once again
In a London garden, I plant out my Zinnia seedlings and maybe 50 percent survive and don't get eaten or damaged by snails, slugs and squirrels. Then last week, someone came to mow the lawn and mowed down the poppies to the ground. Sigh....
Try putting paving slabs under the line of the closed gate. Rabbits seem to be on the increase at the moment. Next spring check the line of the fence for holes. One rabbit can cause so much trouble but you can get the measure of them. You are doing such a great job.
Hi fellow flower farmer! Some stuff that might help with the rabbits that came to mind, what about using blood meal and sprinkling around? They don't like the smell, it makes them think there is danger. Or how about growing a "trap crop". So like, plantings a garden that has lots of stuff in it for the rabies to eat away from the flower crop? If they have other things to eat they might leave yours alone? I haven't done this for rabits but I do plant plants that bugs prefer to eat over my dahlias and other things. A cantaloupe plant will attract all the cucumber Beatles as they prefer it over my flowers. Something like that! But for bunnies? Best of luck! Keep at it! I know how hard it is! Im just recovering from a bulging disk that had me immobile for a few days and I had no idea how I was supposed to keep my flower business up when my back is legit breaking but I'm healing, and everything is ok and learning to take care of my back more and hey, its just another bump in the road! We got this!
Just found your channel, and so far, I find it chalked full of great content. Keep up the great work. By for now, from Deer Wood MINNESOTA, USA.😊 P.S. I love the accent
I keep wondering why this year of all years for the persistent rabbits. Is there another food source that got shut down? Are there so many this year because food was so good for them last year? Maybe they, with their incredible sense of smell, pick up on particular brix numbers the way insects do and since this is a new field, your plants and soil haven't had a chance to build up good sugar numbers. I don't know. It's a real win to have improved your soil in your other fields. FANTASTIC WORK!!! I'm sending hopeful thoughts and rooting for you!
And........you are back! Well done Sarah. Look after yourself though. Bunnies. I have some knowledge to share should you ever want it.....I battled with them but was mentored by a retired gamekeeper and won in the end. Great content as usual. 👍🍃
Glad to see you plant so much out. I’ve just received my Floret seeds so will be watching your progress with them keenly. You sound more positive so I hope it all goes well for you.
Hi Sarah, im so happy to see you glad and with hope and fait in the flower farming future ❤️keep the spirit 🙏 So im in Europe and cant find Florets Flower seeds anywhere and then you mentioned you got her seeds in Uk… can I please please get the info on where I can get her seeds? ❤🙏😊
I’m so sorry this year has been so difficult. I’m just a home gardener but I fight the deer, woodchucks, rabbits, etc. This year a woodchuck and a rabbit have been decimating my plants. I’m trying to trap them and relocate them- I’m in a development and not allowed to shoot them. We do have a hawk who lives here and we saw him in a tree close by today. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that nature takes care of it.
Is there a space on your farm that you could dedicate to feeding the rabbits? Maybe a few rows of black oil Sunflowers & seeds that would entice them to that area instead? That’s what we do and it helps quite a bit.
I feel your pain!! I’m so sorry you are having trouble with rabbits. If I don’t want the critters to eat my flowers, I have to place fencing around my beds. My husband says it looks like my flowers are in jail.😂
The deer are eating all my ranunculus buds,😢 and the poppy's too. My tulips drowned and my lilys are lost to botrytis. It's a difficult year. Don't give up!❤
Hi I don’t know if you have seen my txt on your chan. About electroculture antennas. Just looking at your field I’m certain they will benefit with these antennas. Please try just in one corner. Remember plant at south side of field. Mark
Hi Sarah, Love your channel. Please keep going and don't give up. I live in Ireland but am visiting the uk next week to see my family, i was wondering where i could get Florets Precious metals Zinnia seeds, do you have to order online or can they be purchased from retailers? Thank you, Sara 😊
In order to rabbit proof you need to have Rob bury barbed wire around the edge of the field. I put five strands in a 9 inch deep trench at varying heights around my perimeter. So one strand at 9 inches one at 7 one at 5 and 2 in top 3 inches. If you and Rob want to eat them putting the box traps along your fenceline acts as a funnel. They follow the fenceline and look for an easy entrance. You can also just relocate them 10 miles away. Edit: In addition I see you have things tied to your fence to flutter. Add in some steel fence posts in your field and tie on some holigraphic curling ribbon. Put a 18 inch piece every 1 foot from top to 2 feet from the ground, also add some to the tops of your fence. It is 99 cents here in the states for a roll that will cover that field twice.
Hi Sarah, im sorry about the news on the crops, bunnies can be a pain in the back side, as a country lad these need to be controlled, only way is air rifle 4am
I cant preach enough, you need the soil food web approach with the right biology by Dr elaine ingham, and BEAM compost by Dr Johnson. Healthy plants are not eaten by pests, its all about the microbiology in your soil.
Maybe you should change your channel from Bloom and Gray to 'Bloom and Pray'...and with that, I pray that your flowers are protected from those pesky pests. May God watch over your crop and may you have a bountiful harvest. In Jesus' Holy name
Good to see your soil love ❤ If you ever get a chance to visit the beacons…come and stay …love to share my seeds and wild flowers…Becky xx@thewildmanwoods

Create a trench round the fence with a trencher and bury mesh to keep them from digging under the fence
At least 2 foot down and I've seen pregnant doe clear 3' rabbits are a nightmare
I laughed out loud when you hesitated then said "tell it off" about the bunnies 🤣
Same 🤣

Who knows what the future holds? Let’s hope it’s bunny-free. Best of luck for the future.
I have everything cross xxx
I’ve only just started flower farming and I need your videos, so I’m afraid you can’t quit

Somehow I was amazed that you knew about Fort Knox in England! I’m crossing my fingers for you. It’s been a year!
Hang in there Sarah!
Thanks for sharing the ups and downs. Both equally important. So touching that a fellow farmer shared their plants with you - bravo!
For the rabbits put Poultry wire down on the ground around the field maybe even fold it up against the fence a bit to close up any gaps. I have dried and blended egg shells in my blender and added it to my compost. 😊

Well done for bouncing back🎉
I have Precious Metals seedlings started and they germinated really well, can’t wait to see how they grow ❤

Hi from Canada. I really admire your hard work and I hope this works out well. ❤
I’m so clad u are felling better and getting into the garden again 🇳🇿❤️
Wishing you well, Sarah. Animal destruction is so devastating. Light, Love and Blessings. 💕
Keep going-learned so much from you😀

In a London garden, I plant out my Zinnia seedlings and maybe 50 percent survive and don't get eaten or damaged by snails, slugs and squirrels. Then last week, someone came to mow the lawn and mowed down the poppies to the ground. Sigh....
I had to lay a 20cm/6in skirt of chicken wire horizontally from the fence on the outside to stop the rabbits. Works a treat for me

Plant onions around the fencing ... basil.... etc to distract the bunnies

Hi from New Brunswick, Canada. New sub and referral from Nana's Worms & Garden. I took forward to seeing your content 🙂
very impressed how you jumped over that gate...you're a survivor, I wish you every luck but you dont really need it 👍

Ahhh how lovely ❤ getting plants in the post
And........you are back!
Well done Sarah. Look after yourself though.
Bunnies. I have some knowledge to share should you ever want it.....I battled with them but was mentored by a retired gamekeeper and won in the end.
Great content as usual. 👍🍃
Glad to see you plant so much out. I’ve just received my Floret seeds so will be watching your progress with them keenly. You sound more positive so I hope it all goes well for you.

Hello 👋
Please could you share a vidoe on the process of making and using the egg shells and vinegar ?
Thanks in advance

I’ve been to Jennie Love’s flower farm a few times for floral workshops. She is lovely and so knowledgeable!
❤❤
The deer are eating all my ranunculus buds,😢 and the poppy's too. My tulips drowned and my lilys are lost to botrytis. It's a difficult year. Don't give up!❤
Wishing you success with the new plants - don’t let the rabbits win!
Don't give up get even.
Hi I don’t know if you have seen my txt on your chan. About electroculture antennas. Just looking at your field I’m certain they will benefit with these antennas. Please try just in one corner. Remember plant at south side of field. Mark
If you was local I would make you a dozen and come plant them for you. I’m in Morecambe. There are lots of TH-cam about electroculture. Mark
🌼
Hi Sarah,
Love your channel.
Please keep going and don't give up.
I live in Ireland but am visiting the uk next week to see my family, i was wondering where i could get Florets Precious metals Zinnia seeds, do you have to order online or can they be purchased from retailers?
Thank you, Sara 😊
❤️
Can you cover your transplants with one layer of frost cloth laid on top?
Fingers crossed. Keep going, please. You are one of my favourite flower people on youtube. The rabbits should know better!
👍💚
One more tip. Sheep poo in a sack soaking in 56 gallon drum really made my grapes and toms grow huge ??
These antennas will kill pathogens also plant a antenna in your compost pile also ?? Hope you see the growth like a got. Mark
Hope you took a look at electroculture it could save your business ??
What about electric fence?
Can you electric fence low to the ground the perimeter of your new patch?
Fingers crossed those rabbits 🐇 will stay clear.
