I love the way the Queen looked sort of confused and disconnected both in the church and out on the curb, as the bride had to leave first. And speaking of Michael Kent, I never saw him at this, the Greek wedding. What a surprise...
Harold Windsor's provocative boast [ in his book 'Spare' ] of the number of his 'kills' in Afghanistan so increased the 'threat levels' against his father the new King, and his brother the Prince of Wales, that they were STRONGLY advised by the Foreign office, not to travel to Athens. Had they done so the increased danger to the innumerable Royals present would have been a MAJOR headache to the already embarrassed Greek authorities, and the amount of additional security/publicity would have completely eclipsed the obsequies for the late King. So the King sent his beloved sister, the Princess Royal to [discreetly] represent him, and Prince William asked his cousin, Lady Gabriella Kington to do the same for him. The Greek and British Royal families are incredibly 'close knit', and no doubt it a source of intense regret 'all round'.

I didn't notice the presence of Victor Emanuelle until you pointed out. Thanks. Then I noticed the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, King Simeon of Bulgaria, King Michael of Roumania, Prince of Youguslavia and wife. I did not see anyone from the Aosta family but I guess they were represented somewhere. I'm not documented about the dispute of the Italien family but I think it has to do with the marriage of Victor Emanuelle to a commoner, Marina Doria. I believe nowadays every king or heir is married to a commoner thus making the dispute pointless.
A commoner related to one of Italy's mist prestigious historical family
Vittorio Emanuele è nato Principe di Napoli e lo sarà fino alla morte. Negare la legittimità del figlio perché la madre non è nata principessa è ridicolo.
I love the way the Queen looked sort of confused and disconnected both in the church and out on the curb, as the bride had to leave first.
And speaking of Michael Kent, I never saw him at this, the Greek wedding. What a surprise...
Prince Michael of Kent that the Queen walks past at 1:48?
He is there in the top left corner at 2:02.
Μεγαλος μερος των βασιλικων οικογενιων πλεον δυστιχως μετα απο 30 δεν υπαρχει 🇬🇷😔
The two families are obviously close so it beggar's belief why #KingCharles didn't attend the funeral of #KingConstantine
I could see Queen Sofia of Spain standing close the altar
4:00 And that's the closest the "Crown Prince" and the "Crown Princess" will ever get to being crowned!
Every time I saw Charles's face, I didn't see him like a cruel man who had many mistresses. He looks sooo conservative. Why so many people thought crazy thing on this mama's boy?
He is not a cruel man, he is a very sensitive and compassionate individual, and her isn’t a mother’s boy, either. As the years have passed he has become close to the Queen and she recognises his worth.
Lovely
On that very same day, Stephanie of Monaco got married to one of her bodyguards. This wedding, celebrated in London, was the perfect excuse for everyone, who was someone, not to go to Monaco.
That cursed royal Monaco, a huge shame.
However bad she is, Stephanie can't be any trashier than the "Greek" Glücksburgs. At least she's a real princess.
@@Peter-ov6xh The "trash Greek Gluckbergs"? Are you serious? The Greek Royal House is directly related to neRly every royal house in Europe, from the Romanovs in Russia, the Hohenzollerns of Germany, the Bourbons of Spain, the Windsors of Great Britain, and to the Royal Houses of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Do your research before commenting please.
@MrWilhelm1950 There is no Greek Royal House. There is a Danish-descended family, some of whose members formerly reigned in Greece.
I remember when the King married the Danish Princess and they had to leave Greece. He was a very nice man fair and democratic in his thinking well educated. His children in spite of the difficulties well balanced and healthy. Will it be a private funeral ? They lived in London for many years. One documentary shows them visiting his house and garden in Greece that his family had purchased with their private money but was confiscated and abandoned by the government. Wild looking and returning to nature.
Yes it will be a private funeral. The Greek government has shown the usual bitter small-mindedness that all it predecessors have shown since the 1967 coup.

If i was a King on the same level as Queen Elizabeth II, I'd find it hard to decide whether or not i should attend a wedding. On one hand I'd want to honour a family member on their special day but at the same time I'd worry that my presence would distract people from the wedding and divert attention away from the happy couple
Wonderful. Greeks sadly made a massive error in 1974. The country has progressively gone downhill since.
What was the bride’s name? Was sh also of the nobility?
The elect will attend the marriage supper of the Lamb!
Greek kings and queens omg! They are crowned like Byzantine emperors. It was a nice ceremony, I also follow Achilles of Greece.
I have a One big question why the Pope of the Church speaks Arabic 🤔 😮
When you giving those Elgin marbles back mate
Never with any luck.
Never!
If you want marbles back, then you can excavate some from Penteli Mountain...
Unless you mean the sculptures of Parthenon and not of Elgin's ...
Parthenon marbles not Elgin's!!!
That debate is irrelevant here as the Glücksburgs do not represent Greece. On the contrary, the Greek people rejected them.
Alle Glück diese Welt
WHy was the ceremony in Arabic???
I got goosebumps when they started speaking Arabic! Anyone who knows why they spoke in Arabic ?
Possibly it's was the liturgical rite being used. For example the ancient Melkite rite ,very similar to Greek rite, uses liturgy spoken in Aramaic and their wedding s involve the crowns being encircled either over the bridegroom & bride heads 3x,as was shown in this wedding. Part of the eastern orthodox traditions shared in various Christian expressions faiths, dating from earlier centuries. Thats a fairly streamlined explanation. 🤗
I believe Aramaic (not exactly Arabic) is the language Jesus spoke.
Arabic language but they are all Christians believe to Jesus Christ!
@@emmarich100 No it was Arabic! It was classic Arabic (fusha) thus understood by everyone with Arabic as their mother tongue!
@@faraha2285 The research I have done indicates that there is consensus amongst scholars and experts etc that the language Jesus spoke was Aramaic which was common to Judea at the time. Although many believe Jesus was also multilingual.
does anyone know who the woman was who came with the Queen? she seems to be a member of the family. perhaps it was Prince Philip's sister Princess Sophie.
It may be her lady-in-waiting Lady Susan Hussey :)
I may have been Princess Sophie, I do not recognize her. She kissed and quick bobbed to the King. Lady Hussey would never be that informal.
@@ericduffield524 I agree. The lady arriving with HM Queen Elizabeth II is Princess Sophie of Greece and Denmark. Also interesting to see Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester next to HRH Prince Charles.
@Helen Rossi. Prince Michael of Kent was there also. A true Family wedding 👪

Why the priest is talking in Arabic at this ceremony???
Pavlos is Greek, right???
Marie Chantal is not Arabic origin??? At the end of the ceremony we heard some Greek.
What are they chanting in the background?
Beautiful

Who was the older lady that entered behind\ immediately after the queen? Nobody bowed to her, so she is either not royal, or not senior enough.
Is the welthy Chántal's mother. She is not blueblood but she has a lot of money that the greek royals need.
Was the beginning arabic/Islamic? And why
Arabic is not islamic. There are Christian arabs
Why they used arabic for the congregation?
A part of the congregation was in Arabic for the Arab guests

How was he a crown prince if the monarchy was abolished?
Because he was born and given the title before the abolishment of the monarchy in 1973 and before their exile in 1967.
Well if he is royalty to Greece then is royalty to Denmark therefore could feasibly keep a title.
@@gemmaluescher-verseckas1243"A" title, maybe. But not the title of Crown Prince.
Prince Philip was born 1901 before the monarchy was overthrown and he was the only boy in that family. But because his uncle looked after him he kept his British titles as well.
Prince Philip was born in June 1921.@gemmaluescher-verseckas1243

Was that the lovely lady in waiting who was viciously accused of rasicm accompaning the Queen ?
The lady who arrived with The Queen was Princess Sophie of Greece, the sister of Prince Philip. It was absolutely not Princess Alexandra, as erroneously stated elsewhere, as she was years younger and seated with her husband.

Paulos os not a crown prince, his father was not a king anymore
