I have the NB Beacons size 9. Do they fit the same as Speedcross 5? I think I will go for the wide fitting in Speedcross 5 as I have high arches. Thanks in advance
How snug is the shoe. How much space is in between your toe to the end of the shoe. Would you want more of a snug fit for a trail shoe or a snug fit. What’s your preference?
I saw you tucking in the laces in the pocket, so was wondering if you know you can/should roll the laces down and tuck in that pocket. Wanna see you do a side by side compare with the MudClaw soon.

Great footage! Seth, I’ve been running for over 10 years and I always try to find a running shoes that can be used for all kinds of training! I think that it’s very important to run a marathon (for instance) using the shoes that we ran most of the miles during our training! What do you think?
QOD: god, so many good video's. I think "Where dreams go to die" (Gingerrunner) is indeed a fantastic movie. For the fun side I like "Santa's FKT" from mountain outpost (Jamil Coury). For commercial channels, nothing tops "Killian's impossible traverse" which is so valuable for long distance efforts: knowing when to call it a day, and when you call it a day it's no end, it's a reason to try again the next day. And everybody knows "Kilian's quest slow motion"... is THE BEST movie ever for trailrunners. Is it clear I'm a Kilian fanboy? :-)))
There are so many inspiring and fun short movies, impossible to name a favorite. Most people think about and name some from Ginger, Billy and Co. but one which nails it too is Casey Neistats „my addiction“
Billy Yang - Mt Blanc 2015 I think. But there are so many good ones from Billy! I also love his 15hrs series he done and wish he would do more. Fingers crossed you get some Mudclaws! As an English Trail runner they are one of my favourite all time shoes and are so good for the muddy trails that they were designed for. I'm not sure what they would be like on mountains and rocks as there aren't any where I live. Hopefully we can find out soon!

Which of them is the lightest and which of them has better resistance to water ?
I liked a lot SC3, hated SC4 and I LOVE SC5. I had about 7-8 pairs of SC3 (normal & GoreTex) and a SpikeCross (that is still going strong), then I tried SC4... total disaster. They look about the same but they are completely different. Now we have SC5, and really nailed it! Different than SC3 (SC5 is wider and more flexible and my ankles needed a little adjustment period), but SC5 it's the best one in the series.
For me, it's a tossup between 'The Squamish 50/50' and 'Amongst the Evergreens' by Ginger Runner. Those videos are what got me into ultra trail running and it's much easier to relate to when I watch a regular joe, midpacker runner.
Those 5’s are niiiccceee and they have a rock plate?! That’s exactly what I wanted added to my 4’s Another big question remains are they still slippery as heck on wet smooth rock? And if so, are there any recommended shoes for that situation?

How is the wideness of SC5 compared to SC4? 4 was so narrow even whole size up I gave up on Salomon for big lug action shoes. For now Sense Ride are fantastic. QOTD: Unbreakable: The Western States 100
I would say the width is very similar for the five and the four, so they may be too narrow for you, I totally understand. Thanks for the question and the answer to the question of the day

Hi! Absolutely love your channel. Watching almost every day here from Sweden. I have a question about sizing. (If you have done a video where you talk more about shoe size and how much space that’s preferable in a training shoe compared to a racing shoe... I haven’t found it yet.) You mention that you went up a size for the Speedcross 5 to avoid black n blue toes when climbing. How much space do you have between the big toe and the front of the shoe then? Is it a little more than a thumbs width? Keep up the great work!!!
First of all: Isn’t your pair of Speedcross 4 the GTX version? If so you can’t compare the upper to the Speedcross 5 if That one is the regular version. It’s normal That the Goretex material makes the upper of the 4 less breathable and stiffer. Just staying That so people don’t get the wrong idea of these shoes. i buy the Salomon speed cross 5 for hiking in the Rainforest. before i wear Adidas. I order without GTX because i need to cross river and its high humility and the wetness come from the legs down. for me important, that they dry fast in the layover in the jungle night. covid make me a brake, but i will write you about my experiance

What do you mean by roll the laces down? I have some Salomon's and just stuff them in ☺️

Are these shoes going to get wider and maybe eventually longer when wearing them? I just got them but i’m not really sure if it’s the right size.
Salomon is usually a narrow fit, keep me posted on how they progress for you. I hope they work out. I love mine for the muddy conditions especially

Agree. The biggest problem with the SC4s was the slipperiness on wet rocka.

Great in the mud! And should keep your feet fairly dry. GTX comes out in the fall.

Speedcross! So I know you put about a year into the 4's, but do you know how many miles that is? Just curious what a sturdy trail shoe can handle.
I put about 300 miles, but we're talking up and down mountains, big big rocky mountains....lots of old vlogs from last summer in these shoes.
